Your story is inspirational but I am quite confused, How are you "giving back to Nigeria" by reducing the number of healthcare workers in our deteriorating health sector? I think the phrase "giving back to Nigeria" is being misused here. It should be helping Nigerian doctors fulfill their dreams and find greener pastures. I am pretty sure you are aware of the negative impact of brain drain.

I completely agree with 6:03pm. How exactly are you "giving back" to Nigeria when you are draining it of the few expertly- trained doctors it has? Madam, if you truly wanted to give back, you would get US medically trained doctors to volunteer their time in Nigeria. That way, they would be able to share their knowledge, hereby improving Nigeiria's health sector.

Linda Ikeji I think you missed the boat on this post.I am not sure how this woman is giving back to Nigeria. And yes I am a US trained Nigerian doctor that currently live and work in the US. This woman is misguided and she is depleting Nigeria of her already drained human resources. Her project will help a few Nigerian doctors get a better life but the real Nigerians in Maiduguri, the villages in Nnewi and Shagamu have their doctors taken away from them. I'm also a Nigerian Medical doctor currently in the US, How can she claim to give back to Nigeria, yet holding such symposium at a cost. ...thought she would have done that without cost to the participants she claims to be helping. Besides there is no promise to help anyone in residency program, or at least offer observership or externship without cost, as well as providing letter of recommendation for them. These are ways that she can truly give back to Nigeria, that would've been the focus of her so called helping Nigeria doctors into residency. Not coming to give just cheap talk at a cost. Abeg make she go park well for Atlanta.

I totally agree with you. Giving back is a wrong term. As it stands, we do not have enough medical doctors in Nigeria. It should rather be helping Nigerian doctors that want to- achieve their goals of practicing in america.

Ha! This is not Good for Nigeria. So when we get sick in Nigeria we go to America for treatment. After teaching our medical students to become Doctors. Then America wins. They should pick from secondary school na! And train to there own level. Afterall our own will still be subjected to plenty examinations. And they are already good for us ooo. Haba na, kilode!
