NTA rejects Buhari’s campaign advert

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) yesterday rejected the campaign jingle of the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) General Muhammadu Buhari on grounds that it contained messages that were offensive to the government. The jingle is the first intended to be run by the CPC on the national network. One of Buhari’s campaign aides who does not want his name in print told Daily Trust that after booking the advert and making necessary payments, they were later told that the jingle would not be ran on NTA because it was critical of government. The NTA authorities therefore demanded that such areas be removed. - Daily Trust.

Avoid driving at night in the month of April

"Throughout the month of April, if anything happens to any of you after 8pm, we will not be responsible for it" DG of a Govt-owned corporation warning his staff

I just got out of a meeting with some people and I'd like to put out a warning to those who live in Lagos. Not to cause any panic, just a friendly advice. If you go out a lot at night, please try to reduce it in the month of April. If you can help it, then stay indoors at night throughout this election period. I hear nights will not be as safe as it is now. I don't want to go into details but be more cautious when driving at night or try not to drive at night, especially very late in the night if you can help it.
May God keep us all safe.

This is according to those who spotted him recently. They said he was surrounded by uniformed men and men in mufti. What is not clear is if the police and SSS protection is temporary until after the public outrage that followed his interview with the president dies down or if it's a more permanent one. D'Banj was said to have expressed concerns about his safety after being threatened by some youths for 'selling out'.

Trains are coming back to Nigeria

In keeping with promising less and delivering more, I promised revival of our railways. If you live near tracks, you may have noticed that promise is now a reality. Trains are now gradually getting back on tracks. We met a rail service requesting attention and gave it support. It is the same way that we will bring life to every sector in Nigeria with your help. GEJ

He plans to build 36 railways in all 36 states. Is that necessary and can this be achieved in four years?

Deputy Governor of Lagos State Mrs Sarah Sosan is also the Commissioner for Education, Lagos State

Watching the live broadcast of the Governorship debate on LTV and Gov. Fashola is being criticized by other candidates of not taking the education sector seriously, otherwise why is there no commissioner for education in Lagos State?

I love Fashola and I think he's done well for Lagos State, but how can a deputy Governor of a state have time to also be a commissioner? How does that work?

What is wrong with this picture?

The Politics of "Our Time". Written by eLDee. A must read!

Integrity requires three steps: discerning what is right and what is wrong; acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost; and saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong." – Stephen L Carter

Months ago, before the 2011 voter registration exercise began in Nigeria some of us were very excited as we saw this as an opportunity to effect the much-needed change in our country. I geared up and began non-partisan campaigns aimed at youths in Nigeria to ensure that they register, vote, and protect their votes. I spent at least four to six hours everyday campaigning on social network platforms, TV/Radio, and print media. My team and I did everything we could from explaining the process, to following people on twitter who posted pictures of their registration cards, to giving away cellphone airtime and even went as far as helping local INEC officials with some of the technical difficulties they faced at the commencement of the registration exercise.

Stop Using My Name For Campaign - Wole Soyinka

In an e-mail to some media houses this morning, Prof. Wole Soyinka called the attention of the public and the police to some fake text messages purportedly written by him endorsing some politicians.

His e-mail: It has been brought to my notice that certain text messages of a political nature are being sent out over my name. I have actually seen one of them. I wish to alert the public that these messages are fraudulent and did not emanate from me. I have sent no text or email messages whatsoever to any individual or circulation list, and have no plans to do so. To the best of my knowledge, forgery in any circumstances remains a criminal act even in Nigeria. I therefore draw the attention of the police to this unsavoury development on the rapidly degenerating political scene and call for prompt action before it becomes rampant.

Wole Aboderin has stalked me for six years and taken my name to different celestial pastors – Oyin Adenuga

 Oyin Adenuga and Wole Aboderin

Oyin Adenuga is one of the pretty daughters of Otunba Mike Adenuga. Last year there were rumours round town that she was engaged to be married to man about town, Wole Aboderin. Oyin who never speaks with the press, broke her rule and spoke with a City People reporter about the engagement saga.

Excerpt:
There was a time news broke that you were engaged to one Wole Aboderin, it was later denied, what happened?
Oyin: “I was in Atlanta last year June when I got a call from a friend in Nigeria saying there was a newspaper article written about me that I was engaged to a Mr. Wole Aboderin. At first I thought it was a joke. My friend had to take a picture using her phone to show me the article. When I saw it, I was in a complete state of shock. Wole Aboderin is just an acquaintance. I’ve never gone on a date with him or ever gone out in the company of him. The photograph of us together was photoshopped.

Quote of the day...

"Only 4 sets of people can vote for the PDP: (1) those who are intellectually blind; (2) those who are blinded by ethnicity; (3) those who are blinded by corruption and therefore afraid of the unknown, should power change hands; and finally (4) those who are suffering from a combination of the above terminal sicknesses.” -Wole Soyinka
