Nwayo with Indian police after his arrest

A Nigerian man, Innocent Nwayo, 31, has been arrested in South Delhi, India, for killing his 22yr old Myanmarese live-in girlfriend and dumping her body in a travel bag. He left the bag in his rented house for many weeks until the owner of the house informed the police that a very foul smell was coming out of the locked flat. The police broke down the door on Nwayo's flat on May 20 and found the decomposed body of the lady wrapped in a blanket and tied with a plastic rope.

Nwayo who had fled after the killing, was tracked down and arrested. He's since confessed to the killing, saying it happened after they had a huge arguement about another woman. He said her death was a mistake.

Innocent Nwayo was a police sergeant for 7years in Nigeria before relocating to India a few years ago.

In a statement released to the press regarding the controversy surrounding Rihanna's Man Down video, BET says the video will continue to air. "BET has a comprehensive set of standards and guidelines that are applied to all of our content. The Rihanna 'Man Down' video complied with these guidelines and was approved for air."

Some other channels like Youtube have blocked the video...as of yesterday. Was the video that offensive?

TVC Newscaster, Bukola Ore dies at 29

29year old Adebukola Ore died in a Lagos hospital on Thursday May 26th after a brief illness. She had complained of stomach pains days before her death. Bukola was a business newscaster with Television Continental, Lagos. She would have turned 30 in July.

She's survived by her husband and 4yr old son. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

How ex-govs operate foreign accounts with wives’ names

The Code of Conduct Bureau on Thursday in Abuja revealed that some public servants particularly ex-governors, legislators and ministers operated foreign accounts using pseudonyms and left hands to append their signatures. It also stated that the bureau !would investigate the dramatic disappearance of the names of some big politicians which had been sent to the Code of Conduct Tribunal with a view to wielding the big stick on those involved in the complicity.

The Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, who spoke with journalists in Abuja said the case file of a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had been transferred to the CCT. He regretted that only very few ex-governors agreed that they have foreign accounts in Europe and other parts of the world. - Punch

Whitney Houston Suffering Serious Health Issues?

That's according to National Enquirer. They are reporting that Whitney is fighting for her life against deadly emphysema, a lung disease. Doctors have told the 47-year-old singer she’s suffering from the early stages of the disease and told her she must immediately quit smoking or she will die.

“She’s developed emphysema and her doctors are warning her she’ll die a horrible death,” a friend told The Enquirer exclusively.

My Story: How I was physically assaulted by policemen

 

A LIB reader (who wants to stay anonymous until the case is over) wants to share her story with you all. Below is an unedited email she sent to me about her ordeal in the hands of some police men in Port Harcourt yesterday, June 1, 2011.

The picture doesn't say much, just my palms bleeding. It happened at about 5.25pm along choba rumuokoro road. I was in a cab and a policeman stopped us as usual to collectN50, which the driver willingly gave him and asked dat he got the evening number. The policeman refused and said he would give him the afternoon number,just imagine,they kept on and on and so i signaled to the policeman to save our time, that he wasn't only delaying the driver but all the passengers and that became my offense.

Nigerian 'baby factory' raided, 32 teenage girls freed

 

Nigerian police have raided a home allegedly being used to force teenage girls to have babies that were then offered for sale for trafficking or other purposes, authorities said on today Wednesday June 1.

"We stormed the premises of the Cross Foundation in Aba three days ago following a report that pregnant girls aged between 15 and 17 are being made to make babies for the proprietor," said Bala Hassan, police commissioner for Abia state in the country's southeast.

"We rescued 32 pregnant girls and arrested the proprietor who is undergoing interrogation over allegations that he normally sells the babies to people who may use them for rituals or other purposes."

Federal court discharges Lucky Igbinedion of corruption charges

Former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion yesterday received a breather from his legal troubles as the Federal High Court sitting in Benin discharged him in the 66-count charge of money laundering and corruption brought against him and others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judge ruled that it would amount to double jeopardy and abuse of court process to try the former governor again as he had in 2008 entered into a plea bargain with the EFCC. - 234next

Uche Jumbo set to wed footballer boyfriend?

That is what Stella Dimoko Korkus is reporting in this week's Encomium magazine.
Here's what she wrote

"The ring is actually on her left index finger. She is not hiding but she's also not talking about it. She got the ring sometime last year from Ikechukwu (Uche) and the two are planning a wedding. Some of Uche's very close friends know of this engagement and are helping her keep it under the carpet. The ring is a simple silver ring with three diamond stones decorating it.

I found a pic (above) of her wearing a ring similar to what Stella described. I don't know if she's truly engaged, but if she is, then a big congrats to her!

Ibadan poly shut over students’ protest

The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, yesterday announced the indefinite closure of the institution following a protest embarked upon by its students at the Governor’s Office to demand for the reversal in their tuition fees.

The protest, though initially peaceful, nearly degenerated into a breakdown of law and order as policemen attached to the complex fired teargas canisters at the protesting students, forcing them to scamper for safety.
This created panic in the area as commuters and traders abandoned their wares and ran for their lives.

Naomi Campbell offended after Cadbury likens her to a chocolate bar

Naomi Campbell is considering taking legal action against Cadbury, after the company launched a new advert that compared her to a chocolate bar. The company unveiled a new campaign last week with a slogan reading "Move over Naomi, there's a new diva in town". And Naomi is mad as hell...lol

"I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful." Naomi told reporters

Cadbury released a statement saying: "It was certainly never our intention to cause any offence and the campaign itself is a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss,"  "Cadbury takes its responsibility very seriously indeed and we would never produce any marketing activity we felt might cause offence to any section of society."

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with being associated with delicious yummy chocolate candy. I would have been honored. But maybe Cadbury should have paid her for using her name or something. What do you think, was this offensive?

Nigerian High Commissioner's Official Response to Battery Allegations

The Kenyan ambassador who has been recalled has sent out an official statement in response to allegations of wife battery. Ambassador Wigwe in his response denied battering his wife. He claims it was all a set up by her for financial reasons. These two people have been married for over thirty years, have five children, four grandchildren and they are doing this to themselves? Incredible!!!

President Goodluck Jonathan has named former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He was sworn in this afternoon. The President also re-appointed former Chief of Defence Staff, Andrew Azazi as the National Security Adviser.

Dear LIB Readers: Does Marriage Destroy Friendship?

Dear Linda, I am so angry right now that I can't even explain. She was my best friend for 13 years. My very best friend since our high school days. We did everything together, even lived together in my parents house for a few years before she met her husband. She got married last December and I've only seen her twice since then. Everytime I call her for a meet up, she comes up with one excuse or the other. I've only ever been invited to her matrimonial home once. These days I am so anxious about calling because she acts like I am disturbing her. Her marriage has put a huge strain on our friendship and I am devastated. I never thought marriage would take my best friend away. Please help share with your readers and ask them if friendship have to change when one party gets married and the other remains single? And what's the best way to deal with this anger I feel towards her?
