Pics: Petroleum tankers back on Apapa-Oshodi expressway, cause traffic gridlock
Few weeks after the Lagos state government ordered them to stop plying
the busy Apapa-Oshodi expressway, petroleum tanker drivers have resumed
parking their tanks on the highway. The drivers say they park on the
road because they have limited parking space at the Apapa petroleum
depot where they collect fuel to distribute to different parts of
Nigeria. More photos after the cut...
Is there no other way to transport this petroleum products? This government system is a failure so far. Buhari! Ambode! This is a disgrace if you guys cannot do the right thing.
The tanker drivers are just so damn stubborn and will always refuse to hear no matter the level of rebuke they get considering the tankers are been owned by big cabals in the country.
Wot a stupid reason, if they don't hv enough parking space.......why not make it turn by turn......instead of all of u going to get fuel at the same time.......
As in eh,i stay at apapa and i do business around d old ojo axis, its been hell for me,transportation has been a daily nightmare for me,the govt should pls help us out,let dem leave d road for us nw.
Can't remember the last time I used dat road, its not a joke o! Linda take note!
Okiie, notice to all LIBERs. Didn't want to do dis before but I gex I just have to do it as a disclaimer. One idiot on dis blog stole my identity, my name & signage. So please any negative comments on dis blog is not coming from me but from the thief cos I would neva say anything bad about someone or wish anyone evil. So I have gone back to using my old pix. Linda take note!
Yes oh, the traffic around that side is terrible, so because they don't have space they need to block the express?? Can they come batch by batch? The Lagos State Government needs to do something about it cos that a major road.
You see this is the result of blacks operating in their environment like monkeys. How can we hate ourselves so much? This is because a monkey thought it wise to locate a petroleum depot at apapa but not think about the number of trucks that will have to come there. No parking has been created for them but we all want fuel at stations but we don't want them queuing to take it to stations for us at Apapa. I can imagine this people are not happy queuing for hours on this road. There is one solution RAIL. Take this fuel in loads of the roads and onto trains to the different regions or give the drivers company allocations to get fuel so there's no need for queuing and let's stop operating like a jungle.
The problem is that the right hand side of the road leading to coconut is completely blocked with tankers. Now the containers are taking one-way, it's quite beyond me why containers wld pack conveniently on one way. No movement at all. U have to trek from mile2 to coconut. It was ok when buses where taking one way but why containers. Pls we need govt officials to stop this barbaric act in apapa.
Linda, God knows i wanted to send you this pictures myself. It is sad to say the least. I live in Festac and experience traffic everyday. I cannot drive to work. I cross over and take a bus. It is no use going to Mile 2 whether in the morning or at night. It is really bad. The place is like a tank farm. The drivers sleep, pee and poop there.
My husband works at mile2 and he spends 6 hours, 3 hours to work and 3 hours back home to lekki, yesterday tears roll down his his has he tell me it took hime 4hours from mile2 to lekki and he said he can not cope any long. It is kill him slowly and he is planning to resign. Lagos state should pls do sometin.
They should just give them that road and use the others lanes as dual. The problem is this can be a major fire hazard.one wrong lit cigarette will cause a major fiasco. There is no escape.
This is what happens when you have a group of people who lack the willpower to get the simplest things right yet they call themselves the giants of Africa...scuffs! We all keep talking and nothing seems ever done. These things are simple- Provide railroads to courier the petroleum products. But in the interim, restrict them to two or 3 lanes at most. Policemen should be on the road 24/7 to ensure this especially around Second Rainbow. They should be diverted into Festac and back through the inlet that runs through ABC road when they try to make use of the service lanes. If this continues the crime rate in that axis will increase as the robbers are back on that road. I saw them yesterday and same for today. Police presence is not enough. We will pay higher taxes if we need to contribute for better welfare. I am tired of all this
I pity dat bridge, for d heavy Loads of tanker mk im dey carry evry blessed day, wel no b 2day dat place start 2 dey block, as of last year fashola say d road no consign am, say na federal road, im 4get say lagosians too dey use d road, i tel u, in 1 way or d other, dis gridlock dey affect d economy, even we 4 ajegunle na we dey suffer am pass, we dey c hell 4 driver and conductor hand, were dey suppose collect 100 naira, dem go collect 300 naira, if u complain dem go say hold-up dey, lyk say na we cos d hold up.

Most of the trucks do not have loading tickets and should not be on the road in the first place.
Pls Mr Governor, rise up to your duties, treking from mile 2 to coconut is worrisome
