A staff told LIB that what angered them even more was the recent deduction of N7,500 from their salary due to a claim from management that workers have been overpaid for 5 years. They said there is disregard for their rights and unjust exploitation of their services hence disregard for their effort and hard work. The workers said they've had enough and are demanding change from management. They are now insisting on an association to help them fight for their rights. More pics after the cut..

I support una, carry go
wish them luck
They should contact Unite Here/unitehere.org, the international hospitality union, for some help. It's based out of the US and Canada but can probably provide technical assistance for effective organizing. The workers it represents wins amazing concessions from major hotels (independents and chains) all the time.
In solidarity with the workers,
Me
abeg make una take am jeje oo
I go come form union 4 una..tomjerryswit
Eyah..this isn't fair..them reach to protest

Good luck to them!
Too bad.
Employees should be treated with fairness and respect.
supporting the protest.
Omo na wah ooo
God have mercy on employers
Ok...... hotel workers association will be next on NLC agenda.
This is what I always say. It is not all about creating employment but how are these employees treated when they get on the job. This is a very sad reality in our country. People work and at the end of the day they realise that their employees never remitted a dime as pension meanwhile they got deducted. Even exposed people like you and I get that treatment too but we stay silent so long as our monthly salaries come. Then the work environment is one that people work in fear because they do not want to loose their jobs. Also people work without any terminal benefits put in place for them and when they get fired, no benefits. Ministry of Labour and the NLC must come up with a body that will be given the authority to move around in organisations whether public or private to ensure compliance to these statutory rules.
Diz issue nidz to be addressed properly coz I knw hw it feels wrkn 4 a lesser wages

'we need a change'.if they need change they should vote buhari as their hotel manager at least he can do dat job without having to tlk too much and stress himself instead of contesting for president
Very good initiative
That first pics..their cloth wan resemble APC campaign cloth
@Galore
The management better look into this matter and make necessary adjustments. How can they be so cruel to their workers.

Na wa oh......this is serious.
Most hotels are like this
They're so stingy and will still overwork their staffs
And they make money
Even Federal Palace Hotel staff need change....The Hurricane change will hit on 14th Febuhari and blow away the Portharcourt degree holder into jail....
corruption everywhere not only our politicians, we all are into it.... And it's bullshit
Datz too bad!!
..
Unbelievable.
That hotel is dead!! How do they manage to pay this large number of staff? Low maintenance and all. They should close it down abeg, it lacks good management.
Phewww. So sad. Some workers are just painfully underpaid.
CHANGE! CHANGE!! AND CHANGE!!!..WAY TO GO NIGERIANS.
if u need a change then join APC...lol
This is serious oh!!! Abi Brekete family go help resolve the issue ?
Guess they're renovating their structure too.....#smh
Aluta continua, the struggle continue. There almost 15 expatriates in one company. GM earning over $15,000 plus other benefit while Nigeria management staff is earning less than $1500 monthly.
Racism on the high side. God help us all
They deserve every cent and more..
They've got awesome customer service and, their Live music, wow..
How I wish my people go chop liver like dis. Another month don end oooooo! No leave no transfer.
This building needs some repainting job abeg..nawa ooo..7,500..is Damn too much to be reduced from someone's salary without a genuine reason
May God help una
I don't accept a foreigner heading the human resource unit in a different country, that has to be looked in.
I hear the Ibrus run the hotel????If true, that is so typical of them....rolls eyes
Most workers need a union e.g glo staffs, re dying in silence
THE MALTREATMENT OF WORKERS IS TOO MUCH IN NIGERIA ESPECIALLY CHINESE COMPANY IN NIGERIA..THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I WAS LAID OFF MY JOB LAST YEAR FOR NO SIGNIFICANT REASON..
