After the transplanr, you are likely to stay in the hospital for about 1 week ie if there are no complications and your creatine levels are at acceptable. Your bulk of the expenses will be your hospital stay -lodging, medications and the lousy food you have to eat. Don't forget you need to pay the Surgeons, anesthetists Nephrologists and other specialists your doctor refers you to. Then in the hospital they put you on immunosuppressent medication. It's amazing how shallow Nigerians are. And also how quick to judge. So many people are busy emotionally blackmailing celebrities to sort out OJB's problem led by Linda herself. Na wa o. Do you know what kind of personal relationship OJB had with each and every one of them? Maybe he's not a nice person and has hurt a lot of people, must they give by force? We all came to this life alone, even twins came one after the other. When GOD will judge us, He will judge individually. Linda on the one hand i am happy ojb is getting the funds for his treatment but on the other hand i am so sad that his treatment cant be carried out in nigeria by nigerian doctors. That says a lot about nigeria's health care system. When will the nigerian govt fix health care? When will other nations come to nigeria for medical tourism? All this money raised by nigerians are going into another nation's economy. They will benefit that economy and the lives of its citizens. Look at mandela who never had to leave the shores of south africa for his treatment. This is a fellow african country. Shame on nigeria for failing its citizens by being unable to provide good healthcare services for them. Ojb's ailment should be treatable in nigeria by nigerian doctors thats of course if the govt only cared. I wish ojb speedy recovery.

Juliet, 50,000 is not going to cut it in the US for a kidney transplant, esp if you do not have a any insurance. There are some steps before the actual transplant. First there is the blood work for both parties to check for hidden problems which might lead to rejection. Meanwhile, you will be on some prescribed medications which are pretty expensive. After the transplanr, you are likely to stay in the hospital for about 1 week ie if there are no complications and your creatine levels are at acceptable. Your bulk of the expenses will be your hospital stay -lodging, medications and the lousy food you have to eat. Don't forget you need to pay the Surgeons, anesthetists Nephrologists and other specialists your doctor refers you to. Then in the hospital they put you on immunosuppressent medication. Either you are rich or have insurance. One of those medications 'cellcept will cost you $4,300/monthly. If you body can take the generic, it is between $800 - $1200/monthly. This is just 1 of the many you will be taking FOR LIFE.
Don't forget about the person who donated the kidney. He/She will spend at least 2 days in the hospital for observation if all goes well.
