Igbo leaders a disgrace - Etcetera writes

I don't know why this guy thinks it's okay to say Igbo leaders are a disgrace...shuo! But I think he's Igbo (his name is Pascal Ejikeme) so let's read what he's got to say and tell us what you think.
I was told that every Igboman who heard Ojukwu’s speech after the Biafran war was filled with a renewed sense of pride and hope. A hope that one day the Igbo nation will rise and become a force of reckoning not just in Nigeria but in the entire black world. I have read that speech over and over and each time I read through, I am filled with pride and imagination of how those who heard the words pouring out of the mouth of the warlord himself must have felt. Before going any further, let me recount a little part of what the late sage said while addressing the press:
“In the three years of the war, necessity gave birth to invention. During those three years of heroic bound, we leapt across the great chasm that separates knowledge from know-how. We built rockets, and we designed and built our own delivery systems. We guided our rockets. We guided them far, we guided them accurately. For three years, blockaded without hope of import, we maintained all our vehicles. The state extracted and refined petrol, individuals refined petrol in their back gardens. We built and maintained our airports, maintained them under heavy bombardment. Despite the heavy bombardment, we recovered so quickly after each raid that we were able to maintain the record for the busiest airport in the continent of Africa. We spoke to the world through telecommunication system engineered by local ingenuity; the world heard us and spoke back to us! We built armoured car tanks. We modified aircraft from trainer to fighters, from passenger aircraft to bombers. In the three years of freedom we had broken the technological barrier. In three years we became the most civilised, the most technologically advanced black people on earth.”

Ojukwu, with those few lines, defined the ingenuity and never-say-die spirit God has embedded in the marrows of the Igboman. But my question for Ndigbo is, where has this ingenuity for which the entire world has given them a standing ovation, gone? Why can’t it be used today to enhance the cause of Ndigbo? Can’t we re-enact the same war time feat to launch ourselves back to reckoning again in Nigeria and in the entire black world?

Since Ojukwu died, Ndigbo have been like sheep without a shepherd. Those who we thought could take up the mantle of leadership are nothing but selfish entities who care for nothing but their personal interest. As I am writing this article, I just got words that a senator in Imo State has been discovered as a saboteur working against the interest of his people because he has been promised to be made Senate president in the new political dispensation which begins on May 29. What is it with Ndigbo and greed? How long are we going to kill ourselves? Isn’t it a gargantuan shame that a tribe as populous as Ndigbo can’t provide a single individual that is seen to be credible enough to be elected president of Nigeria? A casual observation of the performances of the governors of the south eastern states will reveal their level of under-performance since 1999. Case point, take Aba which has failed to enjoy any meaningful development since the 1929 Aba women riot. The place is a total mess. What have the governors done with what has been accruing to the state in the last 16 years of democratic rule? The fact that these individuals who have mismanaged fortunes of the state consider themselves fit to even contest election is a slap on the faces of Ndigbo. Ndigbo, are we cursed? The red-cap goons known as Ohaneze do nothing but crawl from one place to another offering themselves for sale and for use. This has been their money-making scheme for too long and it can no longer hold water. Can’t we take a cue from the style Dangote adopted and made a kill? The Yoruba have already adopted it and it is working. We have to restrategise to become that economic power house we crave. The idea that every Igboman who makes money whether through his ingenuity or by accident becomes misguided and begins to push for political office even though they are clearly not professional politicians should be discarded.

We hear of Dangote, the Dantatas, Otedola, Mike Adenuga, the Okoyas, where are the Igbo equivalent in terms of their organisational set-up? Most of our businesses are largely one-man businesses and whenever the founder dies, the whole thing dies. Ndigbo must do away with their selfishness and personal greed, otherwise we will continue to languish as a people. We must redirect our thoughts away from the deeply engrossed notion of “to make it in life,” “we must make money at all cost.” What Ndigbo should learn from the just concluded elections is that without a harmony of opinion, all our efforts will yield nothing. Igbo kwezuenu.

@Linda he is right, greedy and selfishness is killing them
We are powerful tribe

he has a point about igbos been selfish and greedy and mentioning Aba, he says it all. there is no good road in that city since "Aba women's riot" lol. most of them are not even proud of the state. finally, he should ask himself, what has he done for the greater good of the igbos.

Yes, Etcetera is Igbo. So because he is Igbo, he should not say the blunt truth?
Look at great people like Ngige and Rochas, those are patriotic Nigerians who are Igbo men. Those two can make great leaders on the federal level but because of greed and selfishness by other "leaders" in the region, they've turned the common man to turn against those two.

We keep insulting each other's tribe time and time again... I read these comments as well as the comments on the xenophobic attack and I'm wondering if we have the right to point fingers at the zulus (I'm not in support though) when we as a nation, tribalism is embedded in our DNA....

.
1 - This is but a mere RUMOUR.
2 - This is but a SINGLE case.
3 - You did neither name the senator nor what is it he/she is doing AGAINST his/her people so we and not you alone can judge if it's against the people's interest or not.
4 - What has "position" got to do with greed rather than "ambition"?
.
Yet Mr ITK etcetera castigates a whole ethnic group. The same ethnic group that are in the front of business, sports, education, industrialisation, literature etc... in Nigeria.
.
He accords himself the freedom to say all these because he comes from a ethnic group that tolerate idiots like him.

In 100% of the Nigerian blogs and forums online that I know, Igbo are the people that EVERY Tom, Dick and Harry give UNSOLLICITATED advice to. Advice from the minority tribes, advice from Igbos themselves, advice from the hausa-fulanis, advice from the yorubas, advice from non-nigerian afrivcans in those forums. This is STRANGE phenomenon.
.
Yet the Igbos are the RICHEST Nigerians with the highest standard of living.
Yet the Igbos are number one in Nollywood.
Yet the Igbos are number one in sports.
Yet the Igbos are number one in business.
Yet the Igbos are number one in Education. (Imo state alone presents more Jamb and Waec students that 12 states of the North COMBINED together. When ALL the Nigerian universities are put together, Igbo males are NUMBER one in number followed by Igbo females. Please, anybody who doubts me should chekc the net for these FACTS. There are more Igbo females in Nigeria univerities than there are yoruba males in ALL nigerian universities counted together.

I am Yoruba and have a lot of Igbo & Benin friends and I've been living with Igbos & other Nigerians abroad for the past 15 years....The truth about our Igbo brothers is that "Igbos are their own enemy".

Firstly I will start by saying, most Igbos "Hate & Jealous" fellow Igbo who is hard working or successful in business or other endeavors...An Igbo man or woman will go behind his or her fellow Igbo to other tribes like Yoruba or Benin to say bad things or plan evil towards their fellow kinsmen, just because of envy.

While Yorubas, Hausa or Benin stick together to help each other both home and abroad,...Most Igbos will instead want to be "Boss or Chairman" towards their fellow brothers and subject them to serve them as a boy or servant.

I have seen several cases of Igbo men taking the passport and money of their fellow Igbo brothers immediately they land here in Europe and throw them out on the street once the money runs out....While Yorubas & Benins will accept and assist their fellow kinsmen into settling down abroad and start a slow journey into a better future.

I have travelled extensively around the world across Europe, America and Asia,..You will cry for our fellow Igbo brothers in Asia when you see their conditions in prisons over there waiting on Death Penalty.....Most of the guys in prison over there were pushed into drug trade out of desperation or ignorance caused by their fellow Igbo brothers that they can make "Fast Money"......the truth is, Yorubas are also involved in drug trade too, but they don't take the "Senseless Risk" of going into drug trade in Asia where the punishment is "Death Penalty"

The world is evolving and things are changing fast because of technology....The general views that business activities in Nigeria is controlled by Igbos is fast fading.....Having a small shop in "Alaba or Ladipo" doesn't make someone a successful business man, the new trend in Nigeria top businesses and "Top 20" businesses which are running the Nigerian economy are owned mostly by Non-Igbos such as Yorubas, Hausas, Edos, Deltan etc.

The issues of calling all Yorubas lazy is a funny thing which makes me laugh every time our Igbo brothers make such statement. Indigenous Lagosians are predominantly fishermen, so you don't see them setting up shops to trade and other Yorubas from Kwara and Osun states are roving traders who sells their wares moving from one community to other. Most shop owned by Yorubas in Lagos are owned by Kwara or Osun state Yorubas....The issue of calling all Yorubas "Area Boys or Agberos" is also funny because the so-called "Area Boys" actually consist of all tribes who were "Born & Bred" in Lagos.

Area Boys in Alaba or Ladipo Markets are mostly "Igbo & Yoruba Boys". I totally agree that Area boys in other parts of Lagos are mostly Yorubas though........It is a fact that Lagos is the only part of Yoruba land that you can find Area Boys,..but it is interesting that we also have "Area Boys in Onitsha" too....I have been to Onitsha several times and the touts there are even Deadly & Cold-Hearted & Callous than the Area Boys in Lagos.

PDP & Jonathan government did absolutely Nothing in the South East, but our Igbo brothers voted for PDP out of the hatred they have for Hausa & Yoruba politics.....Yorubas had ACN, but formed alliance with CPC & other politically parties to oppose PDP for 16 years...Tinubu & Co, were in opposition of 16 years and endured until they finally kicked PDP out.....Where is APGA? Igbos need to ask themselves!.......The same PDP that Igbos are loyal too is run mostly by Hausas...Lol & PDP will come back strong to present another "Hausa Candidate" in 2019. So when will Igbos get their Act together and stop living with a " Civil War" that happened 40 years!

In the last election ALL Igbo states and LGAs in the SE and in the SS voted for JEG. Where's is the "disharmony" of opinion among the Igbos?
.
This is the problem with ITKs, they just write to write. Led and BLINDED by their egos. Gushing blind opinions and blind emotions with NOT an ounce of a deeper thought. Disgusting.

There are no less than 5 million Igbo men and women who have made substantial amount of money. People who are VERY VERY very RICH. So are there 5M Igbo women and men pushing for political offices ? What's more, is there any clear cut stats showing that there are more succesful Igbo women and women pushing for political posts openly or secretly that thare are hausa-fulani, Edo, yoruba, Ijaws, Ibibio etc... doing the same ?
.
Why then are the other tribes not producing people who insult their tribes on the basis of this as this Etceera is doing against the Igbos tribe?
.
Why are there nobody advising their tribes as this Ectcera is "advising" Nigeria's most successful tribe; the Igbo?
.
Unsollicitated advice is a disguised INSULT.

Igbo people are very funny people, judging by the last elections they couldn't even conduct a free and fair elections in ANY state in the east. It was either inconclusive, (because both side rigged it), or there was too much blood shed or there was an agreement by all concerned to write the result. Yet they attempt to terrorize the good people of Lagos state by telling them that but for them Lagos wouldn't be what it is today. Well! As the majority of Igbo people don't go to school and hence don't know history a little lesson is necessary.
Before their fathers left their mud huts in the village to venture into Lagos, the following was already happening in Lagos.
"By 1872 Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading
center with a population of over 60,000 people. Colonial Lagos developed into a busy,
cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that
blended Victorian and Brazilian styles.The
Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders
and masons who had returned from Brazil. The
black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cuba.

By 1872 the population of the colony was over 60,000, of whom less than 100 were of
European origin.

In 1876 imports were valued at £476,813 and exports at £619,260.

Telephone links with Britain were established by 1886, and electric street
lighting in 1898.

In August 1896, Charles Joseph George and G.W. Neville, both merchants and both unofficial members of the Legislative Council,
presented a petition urging construction of the
railway terminus on Lagos Island rather than at
Ido, and also asking for the railway to be extended to Abeokuta.

Lagos history is rich in
Yoruba tradition,trade and
commerce,infrastructural development and
cosmopolitanism." -

The Igbo tribe attempt to compare themselves to the Jews ( how laughable) because the Jews are home proud and are actively developing their land. So they need to stop eyeing other people's property and territories and start developing their land. And they have many locations to choose from Enugu, Port harcourt, Aba, Owerri, and so many other places

I do not like the guy but yes fine he has a point but he writes it and name rich Hausa and yoruba guys like there is absolutely no yoruba man that has been involved in greed or sabotage, he needs to choose his words carefully and write like he is educating people not like he wants war

There's no doubt the Igbos are jealous of the Yorubas, they wonder why despite their aggression they don't make as much money as the yoruba
They wonder why the yoruba are so blessed geographically, they hate us cause we watched the Hausa beat them silly and made their leader run away after killing his people .
They hate on us so much because despite how much they try they are just not good enough, the so called trade they claim they are great at they are not the richest in it, the richest woman is a yoruba woman, the so called nollywood they dominated a Yoruba woman Omotola is the best in it, literature they worshipped Chinue Achebe but he wasn't as good as Wole Soyinka. Music they tried none of them was a good as Sunny Ade Fastforward till today it's Davido, Wizkid and tiwa savage all Yoruba people
We have 56 universities in SW
It pains them so much they need our intellectual prowess to be great
The Lagos enjoys the deepest sea port in the coastal line in ng and with the construction of Lekki sea port and Discocery of oil in SW, they are dying of Jealousy
It pains them all their business men run to Lagos, Oyo, Ondo to make it
It pains them we have a sound democratic system just look at elections in their region and see how their leaders molest them.
It pains them our states have the lowest number of unemployment, it pains them how we don't struggle or fight to get things done.
It pains them we fought for independence
It pains them we have Lagos and Ontisha is a wreck.
They envy the Yoruba Civilization
It pains them they are natural Losers
It pains them they are land locked
Whenever they see projects in SW, they cry Eko Atlantic financed by Yoruba businessmen shows how far we are ahead of them.
Despite introducing tribalism to the finance industry and stocks
Yorubas head / own 13 of top 25 banks they control only 4 and they are small banks
The stock market is another Yoruba affair 60% of stocks controlled by Ijebus
It pains them we don't have to go to China to import fake drugs to make x2 of their money.
Whenever you go abroad you see the Yoruba child learning and acquiring knowledge but you see the igbo student doing drugs, 419 (claiming they are smart) Pls accept we are superior to you we are better than you.
Igbos you can only try your best you can never be better than than a Yoruba man
Yorubas are Like the Germans
Igbos are like the British
Both good but a British Man can never be better productive than the German man.
Igbos surrender to your Yoruba Gods your a barren tribe with no access to water and small population.

I totally agree with you Bonario. I'm a proud Ibo chick but I must confess I was very disappointed and ashamed of Ndigbo during the recently concluded Presidential election especially the elite amongst us in their blind and unflinching support for corrupt GEJ. And I kept asking man why are we as a people so deeply embedded in this politics of tribe and religion? We even supported him more than the people of the south south.
The truth is that whatever was done to the ibos happened over 40years ago!!!!! and we still holding deep grudges. It's unbelievable!!! And whether we like it or not, we are now in this country called Nigeria and we must do everything to protect its interest first because if it's going to be good for Nigeria it will also be good for the ibo race and the Hausas and yorubas and every other ethnic group in the country.
The Yorubas have been able to overcome that as was seen in The last elections.

Lastly, let's take a cue from the likes of Shoneyin and Yomi Adefulu etc who were able to forgive their jailer (Buhari) in 1984 and support him in this elections in the interest of NIGERIA before personal and tribal sentiments.
I rest my case.

"Ndigbo must do away with their selfishness and personal greed, otherwise we will continue to languish as a people. We must redirect our thoughts away from the deeply engrossed notion of “to make it in life,” “we must make money at all cost.” Mr etcetera.
.
In 100% of the Nigerian blogs and forums online that I know, Igbo are the people that EVERY Tom, Dick and Harry give UNSOLICITED advice to. Advice from the minority tribes, advice from Igbos themselves, advice from the hausa-fulanis, advice from the yorubas, advice from non-nigerian afrivcans in those forums. This is STRANGE phenomenon. Nobody ever gives advice to the hausa-fulani, to the Ijaws, to the Ibibios, to the yorubas, to the Berom, to the Edos etc...
There are more Igbo females in Nigeria universities than there are yoruba males in ALL nigerian universities counted together.
.
Repeat:
THERE ARE MORE IGBO MALES IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES THAN ANY OTHER TRIBE, FOLLOWED BY IGBO FEMALES. In other words, THERE ARE MORE IGBO FEMALES IN ALL NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES PUT TOGETHER THAN THERE ARE YORUBA MALES IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES.
.
Please, if you doubt me, check this fact out online.

If the Igbos have a leader such as TINUBU who is a certificate forger, a former USA CONVICTED drug baron and an ULTRA corrupt politician, the same ITK Etcetera with his EMPTY ego will viciously insult the Igbo tribe for having a former drug dealer convicted in the USA, certificate forger and a KNOWN very corrupt politician as leader.
.
Too much tolerance for fake ITK idiots such as this Etecetera is one of the major problem of the Igbo ethnic group; believe me.

@True_Nigerian:

Most of the things you said about the Igbos are PURE lies. It shows the IGBOS ARE STILL A MYSTERY TO NIGERIANS.
.
Just one of your lies: That the Igbos don't love or help themselves?. You are very comical.
How do you think, they control the business and some markets in Nigeria, Africa, India, China? COOPERATION, my friend. COOPERATION and INTRA-ETHNIC HELP.
.
Igbos are the people who cooperate the MOST with each other to progress. The result is visible all around Nigeria and the world.
.
Igbos are the people who help each other the most in AFRICA. Look more closely INTO Igbo communities and you will be AMAZED at the high level of help they give to each other. And the result of this massive and permanent intra-tribal help is visible in Nigeria and around the world.

@True_Nigerian:

No, it's a lie that Igbos are only in small business of trading: There are no BIG and BIGGER business and human activities in Nigeria that the Igbos are not there massively...even more than many or more than others.Just name it. Let me give you the names.
.
What's more, TODAY IN NIGERIA, NNEWI HAS REPLACED IKEJA AS THE MAJOR INDUSTRIAL CAPITAL AND INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING CENTER OF NIGERIA. Check this fact on the net.

For those of you griping about his article, learn how to embrace the truth Sometimes harsh words are necessary to draw attention. I am going to mention names of politicians that have done nothing but profit themselves and their families from their representation of the Igbo people - Mbadinuju, Ararume aka Mr Breathless, Ohakim, Udenwa, Okorocha, Orji Kalu, Nwajiuba, TA Orji, Iwuanyanwu and all members of the so called Ohaneze which need to be dismantled or relegated to where it belongs - the archives of negative history. Igbo people, you have what it takes. The people who assign themselves the role of representing you do so out of self interest. They care not for you, or should I say they do if it benefits them. So you have to rise up and demonstrate that you don't need them to represent you. Anyone representing you should look like you. You too should easily see yourself in their shoes. Is that the case? If not, they do not represent you. They are a bunch of old and young men who are constantly in need of access to national coffers because they are unable to multiply what little they have stolen or they have been bequeathed with. They build white marbled edifices and villages for their families that are surrounded by broken mud huts. They ought to be dethroned and the people need to take back their power. It is not by violence. Show the incoming government that they do not speak on your behalf. Get on social media and be heard. Talk about the lack in your community. Highlight their inadequacies and get them the hell off their self made throne that is founded on dry twigs.

@mole baba I think you are very nice by telling he needs a brain transplant. I want to tell you that what he/ she has is not brain. When he was formed in the womb. There was a mistake instead of brain forming there, it was butter that entered the person's skull. So he has no brain na butter he get.
