Leading ICT Company, MTN Nigeria has assured of its unwavering support to the country’s education sector through well-meaning initiatives.

According to MTN Nigeria’s Chief Operating Officer, Mohammad Zia Siddiqui, who led senior management of the company on a courtesy visit to the University of Port Harcourt recently, education remains the bedrock for sustainable growth and development for any nation.

Siddiqui who was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ndowa N.S. Lale and other top management staff of the University explained that the visit would afford the company the opportunity to interact with stakeholders of the university and seek out opportunities where MTN can provide support to the students and the University at large.
"As a responsible corporate entity we are always actively seeking out ways to contribute our quota to the task of nation building and we have identified education as a key area for us to do that.
The University of Port Harcourt has become a breeding ground for future leaders of this country and that is why we are excited to be here,” Siddiqui stated.

Siddiqui also noted that apart from the MTN Foundation’s Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme that has students from UNIPORT as beneficiaries, MTN will continue to make the lives of the students better and brighter through its innovative products and services.

In his remarks, Prof. Lale, while receiving the delegation from MTN, expressed gratitude to the ICT company for the visit.

Lale called on other corporate bodies to emulate MTN in supporting educational institutions. He praised the company for helping indigent students actualize their academic aspirations through scholarships via MTN Foundation’s platform and other activities.
Also present with MTN’s Nigeria’s Chief Operating Officer were other senior executives from the company including the Customer Relations Executive, Ugonwa Nwoye; General Manager, Customer Experience, Andrew Esemezie and others.

After the visit to the VC, the MTN team had a robust youth focus forum with the students. The engagement ended with an exciting performance from the University’s alumna and Project Fame 9 winner, Okeimute, after which several gifts were presented to students.
