Etcetera: Wake up President Buhari

Read Etcetera's message to President Buhari below...
Wake up, President Buhari. Get in the game; you have left the door open for more Federal Government bailout. The question is, why would the Federal Government get involved? And, beyond that, why should it? Can the Federal Government really help a state like Osun? Hell no!! The predicament of these states is due primarily to two causes.

One is mismanagement, which has amounted to billions of their total shortfall. The second is the money that was borrowed through the years for unseen projects and other unnecessary obligations. Disappearing jobs, empty factories have all played a role, too.
There are so many reasons why bailing out cash-strapped states that mismanaged public finances with over N7bn should be prohibited henceforth. We are talking about public funds here and Nigerian taxpayers need to watch their wallets. If not, there will be a call for a federal bailout to finance the purchase of private jets for state governors. The National Assembly should act now to ensure taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for years of mismanagement by government officials. Failure of some of these states to properly manage their funds might be rooted in an unholy alliance between the governors and their godfathers. The issue of ghost workers is another thing that should be looked into. It is a fact that some of the commissioners liaised with the permanent secretaries to milk the states by employing ghost workers.
Leaving aside the argument of the merits or demerits of federal relief for these financially troubled states, the way these governors squander public funds makes it morally troublesome and that’s to put it lightly.
It would have been understandable if this bailout was as a result of natural disasters like earthquakes or outbreaks of terrible diseases such as Ebola. Seeking federal bailout to pay workers’ salaries is preposterous, especially when the said states have been receiving regular monthly federal allocations. Osun State needs to lie in its own poorly made bed; the rest of the country cannot be expected to pay for the myopic misdeeds of a lazy government.
Consider an uninsured driver who negligently makes an illegal turn that causes an accident with another car. Witnesses call the police, reporting who is at fault; the police transmit this information to the traffic offence unit. When they arrive at the scene and find that the car of the driver at fault is uninsured, will they tow his car to the workshop and have it repaired at the expense of the government? Let us also pause and consider whether this bailout shows respect for ordinary Nigerian citizens. The state governors having chosen to run their risks, they deserve their misfortune, so society need not save them from it.
There are so many good reasons why the Federal Government shouldn’t have offered a bailout to these states. That the government treasury is empty is certainly one salient factor. Another is the issue of moral hazard: if these states can turn to the Federal Government whenever their finances go down, other states will have much less reason to manage their money effectively and make tough but crucial budgetary decisions.

What father leaves his children to die of hunger because the money he gave their mother to prepare food for them was used to purchase Mary K instead?
The people bearing the brunt of these unpaid salaries are the poor people in the states who have put in so much into their works with no pay at the end of the month.
What is the need for a bloated external deserve, while the people are suffering.
Some of the governors inherited this huge debt, are we to leave the workers to suffer while we go after the ex governors that left the huge debt.
President Buhari intervened on compassionate grounds, if he had refused to do something, people like you will still find room to berate him.
Isn't it much better we reduce the sufferings of the poor workers while we go after those who mismanaged the funds meant for their salaries.

Relax Etcetera.PMB is very much awake. The bail out while not caused by his government, has to be sorted out by his government. The governors are aware that they won't be getting that anymore but we must remember that beyond punishing the governors,we must not punish the civil servants and the rest of their dependants.

Remember when the bank MD's and their cronies looted their respective banks of their investors funds?Should Sanusis led CBN have bailed the banks?yes otherwise we will have buried more people than we can count. Its however unfortunate that one by one,the judiciary is releasing the perpetrators and even giving them properties seized by them.My country,my country.

Don't worry everyone,he's working.Nigerians are just used to a government that makes noise when they brush their teeth.

"I am so done with dating all these Christian brothers, they hurt me so much and then they lie that God told them we were not supposed to be together. When Segun came to ask me out, he told me God said I was his wife, now he is saying God didn't say so any longer. Does God change His mind? Does God lie? I am just going to date any nice man I meet whether he goes to church or not is none of my business".

Many Christian brothers including myself have had moments when we thought we heard God about a lady we were interested in. Did we truly hear God or we just liked what we saw at the moment and then we simply changed our minds when things didn't go the way we expected?

I will tell you what happened. Many men are expecting to "hear" concerning the woman they want to marry. You have put God in a box and because of that you have deceived yourself. God talks in many ways; it could be the peace in your heart, which to me is the most important factor, it could be the joy you feel in her presence, it could be that good things just start happening to you the moment you started dating her, it could be that her father likes you the moment he sees you. It could just be a knowing that you cannot explain. It is not necessarily a voice or a picture in your spirit.

Marriage is practical so God will give you someone you can learn from, protect, appreciate and be proud of. God's plan is a family plan, the choice of a spouse is crucial to Him. He cares about your choice 100%!

Ladies don't date a nice man who doesn't love God and doesn't go to church because the Christian brother you are dating broke your heart. The most important factor in choosing to marry a man should be is love and fear for God. If you get that part right, everything will fall in place.

You will never meet a perfect man and you are not perfect yourself so you will teach each other to become better people.

The fear and love of God will also constrain him. No compassion, love, respect and responsibility can keep a man faithful. Only the fear of God keeps a man faithful. A man can love his wife to the moon and back and still cheat on her.

To men, sleeping around is a sport, it's not emotional. He could have a beautiful wife and still cheat with the secretary simply because he likes her voice or the shape of her bum or he just wonders what she would be like on the bed. The fear of God prevents a man from carrying out his sexual fantasies with any other woman apart from his wife.

Dear sister, Brother Richard, Emeka, Collins, Segun, Niyi, James and Femi may have broken your heart but only one man will be right. Trust God to send him your way, don't give up, stay with God and He will honour you.

The bible says in Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NIV) 5Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;
6in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.a

Sometimes I wonder how you think but now I'm fully convinced dt those mocking you are right. No wonder you can't meet up with your mates idiot. If Buhari did not do anything at all now it's idiots like you that will still come out demanding for his head. Do you listen to the news, I mean international news. Pls go and make yourself relevant and stop all these notice me syndrome you keep displaying. Fool thinking with another faculty instead of his head.

Nwoke a I bia kwa, he did it for the workers, or should they wait till the governors come up with funds before they eat and pay their bills? And how long will that be? It's good he did what he did. He can now call the Governors to come and explain what they did with the money given to them and do to them whatever pleases him, use them as an example and the rest will sit up

Anonymous said...

He's right but needs to know somethings. 1.Osun's predicament lies solely on Aregbesola and his bandits, not the people of Osun who are now suffering.
2.Aregbesola's government is not lazy but corrupt and self serving. As a resident of Osun, we need the bailout but like Ben Bruce, I wish it could be paid directly to the workers. 3.Aregbesola should be made to face the law for gross misconduct and mismanagement of the state's fund. He's a sugarcoated mouthed crook.

Rescuing the situation to pay civil servants owed for over 6months is the best move. I agree questions should be asked but with caution. Most of these states helped gmb during the election, reacting harshly will offset certain things. Efcc and other enforcement agencies can take up that role. As for the topic, its not preposterous but the best move.
