Very Nigerian... Don't tell ppl how to spend their money. Good idea, poor plan. The church can pony up the money if they are serious.

Mich said...

I totally agree with him.
If these pastors are gonna follow the Bible in its entirety then they should also remember the part in the New Testament where memebers of the church were made to bring parts of all their belongings so it could be shared amongst the poor.
But then again, there're always gonna be poor people in the Church and in the society at large...no amount of wealth sharing by billionaires will change that.
There's a mechanism in place that constantly sees to it that poor people are subjugated,I mean,do you really think most billionaires would want the poor to attain their level of financial success?
Long as the world exists, there would always be poor people,do the little you can to help the few you know and that's about it.

The gospel according to Ali Baba and that's just the fact! Churches today are not for the poor, the church is suppose to be the one place where people should get succor after being shunned by almost every facet of the society and yet there too they are shunned! Imagine schools built with the money of poor people and their kids can't attend said schools! This phenomenon is not peculiar to the 21st century churches but all of them! Rich people will show their affluence by buying car gifts for Pastor and priests who have fleets of cars already, while members of the same church go to bed hungry. There is something seriously wrong with churches today and something has to be done about it. How many times have churches raised money for a family or a member of their congregation? Good wake up call Ali baba

alibaba for the first time in your life u made sense...everyother fin u have ever said was a joke...i support u on this one, all this church wey thier pastor dey buy autobiography and porsche worth 120million naira..what ve u done to help that girl who wakes up every morning and say m going to pastor i no mention name church in oregun to go and look for husband. Empower her, let her start her own business and leave husband matter for now.

All these pastors and thier flamboyant lifestyle, u can never hear of any politician buy porsche, na only business men, pastor and entertainers...why should pastor fall in a category of vanity...the same tithe wey people dey pay u, wey u suppose use establish churches up and down like my dear adeboye...u use ur own dey buy cars with so much billionairies in ur church...of what does it profit u pastor i no mention name to have all the lamboghini and dont make heaven...thank me and alibaba later.

pastors are the ones that are suppose to help poor members of their church not the billionaire members. The billionaires pay huge tithes and offerings to the churches and sponsor most of their programmes, while the pastors uses the tithes to buy private jets that takes billions of dollars to maintain and build universities that are beyond the reach of their poor members.what does a pastor want to do with 4 jets?

I Totally agree with his submission, the church should also alleviate poverty in the country.

Common sense said...

Moral conscience speaking. Alibaba's idea is brilliantly thought out and given freely. Government should buy into this idea quickly and send a bill to assembly as a matter of critical urgency and the lawmakers should pass the bill into law stating all religious houses as a per-requisite must have a department of human empowerment or cannot operate applicable to churches and mosques e.t.c .The future direction for churches who wish to be relevant in 5yrs time with proven results of people they have empowered and changed their lives for the better . Only people like Madiba saw life from your perspective. Ride on ALIBABA!!!!!!!!!!

True talk. Not all those rich men dat come to church to flaunt their wealth and yet, they can't help the needy. They keep giving to pastor that has got more than enough. God help us.

I have to comment (This is my first time of commenting on this blog but I just have to comment)Ali baba is soooo right. I mean God blesses us to be a blessing to others. If we preach the above in church, then why don't we start practicing it in church. It will go a long way in eliminating poverty in our midst. We shouldn't wait for the government to start something. We should start from wherever we find ourselves cos they said and I quote "charity begins at home." you can not tell somebody that God is good without showing God's goodness to the person. It all begins with giving. MOI.

Baba u have done more than enough in ur own field. Empowerment, empowerment and empowerment. That should be the watch word

UgoMichael said...

Good comment Ali Baba, But unfortunately the need of nowadays church are very very long that the billionaires cannot finish them talk more of empowering the poor. A church with good auditorium will require branches, and where there are branches, it will require to have a good camp ground along Lagos - Ibadan Expressway, the cost of acquiring the land and building it to specification will take years. It does not stop at that o, cause when eventually the camp ground is ready then there will be need to have a private university. Baba, when will the billionaires complete all these and still have time for the poor members of the church?

Anonymous said...

Lmao. What type of jacket is that? I know he is comedian and all but WTF!!!

Yeah yeah to his message

Anonymous said...

This. Exactly my point. You don't need comfort to go to heaven. As u are spreading the gospel plssssss spread the. Help to the needy for a better nation. Having. Surplus takes u to no were. Helping people stand on their. Feet. Makes you their STAR. Like. Dey said don't judge. I will share the little I have how about u. A land with kitchen line 1 or 2 bedroom for 30 people if you can afford it. can change an armed robber youth to an entrepreneur. Spread the love and not greed it kills. Billionaires on forbes gives arms to Africa. So what does billionaires. In Africa do????. That was a good one Ali.

True talk Bros. How can a member contribute money for project building in a church after which the member is not allowed to go inside the particular building .its very sad.

Money makes you fuck lots of women without stress said...

Billionaires don't owe anybody anything.

This is a lil bit selfish on his part. It's like the theory of rats debating who would bell the cat.

Why did he not mention "millionaires" ? Or is it because that's where his class is and he would then be propelled to do more for the society?

The point is, everybody has a role to play, no matter how little.

The persistent pressure on billionaires is uncalled for

I totally agree with Allibaba because I have a personal experience I would love to share. I worshipped in a particular church in Lekki for years being active in the choir all the while I was there. Two of the soo called "big men" were impressed with my cause of study and promised me good placing upon graduation. When I graduated from the university, I informed them I had graduated and the moment I did, they stopped picking my calls and were never seen in church. I sent series of mail and text messages ( eventhough they did not see the mail atleast they would have definitely seen the mails and the messages) but they never called. I wasn't deterred and I met some other"rich men/women" whom I knew had their companies and could definitely fix you somewhere reasonable should they not have vacancy. What killed my spirit and made me leave was the fact that they published my job search in the bulletin for months and kept announcing it yet none of them could help instead they asked me to be praying and keep searching when I know its a small problem they could gratuitously fix for me.

The moment I left the church, the jobs just started coming. My advise, never trust in man.

He is right, I once said this. Covenant Christian Centre is one church I know that offers money to entrepreneurs with business ideas. I don't know how much the church is worth but the pastor is obviously sensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

I have always say it, we need to enpower our members, otherwise we encorage stilling cos if u are in a church and ur pastor has fleet of exotic cars in his garage meanwile u don't even know what u will eat when u leave service it is very partetic, provide a place in d church where members with needs can register

Nkechi J. said...

i know most Nigerian pastor worshippers are going to bash him, but lets be real its called redistribution of wealth that's precisely what Obama is doing with American tax increase (read up on it if you don't know what am talking about). In a society or environment where things work, everyone should know that they have a communal responsibility to care for their neighbor... No one is saying just dash away money, but pastors ask money everyday for one project or the other, how about ask for money to empowerment your fellow worshippers? How can you have peasants and billionaires worshipping in the same place and a "man of God" or anyone with conciseness don't see the need for some members to help others. He's right not everyone needs a life overhaul and even those who do need it, it might not take as much as you think to get them started. If you go to a church with millionaires and you are having trouble paying school fees or trouble feeding, the church should be able to help, maybe not all the time, but sometimes, it's called membership enrichment, after all, when one benefits from such program, they are more likely to help others via the same program... For those of you that will disagree, please what do you think charity begins at home means, after-all the early churches progressed by sharing what they have amongst other members, that's caring for your neighbor, it is the job of the pastors to spearhead such, not just requesting money for everything else... Humans should value human life and well begin over other things!!! Just my 2cents

The issue here Sir is while most of us are pure hearted that is a loooonggg run - No be by force to HELP person- so all these billionaires can keep some of their not so pure money - some just don't want to. If Beyonce and Jayz or Oprah alone have money more than one little starving nation why are there so many of them? If just Bill Gates, Dangote and Oprah said lets make Zimbabwe rise again they'd do it so erm why isn't it happening? It's the game of life!!!!! In my "not-yet-there" state I help to my last penny but not everyone is like me or thinks like you- it keeps variety- thats the unfortunate world we live in and May God bless the pure hearted - Amen

Please guys lets not always generalize on this issues to all churches, I can tell u a good number of churches here in lagos that are heavily into feeding the poor and empowering the youths, they have schools on empowerment and even very robust curriculum with experienced professionals to lecture you, but if you are the type that is always criticising the church from afar, that will always limit you from benefitting from their programmes, a lot is happening under your noses so please we all also have a duty to be openminded and objective and willing enough to learn the positives from some churches instead of throwing stones at them.

He said some truth in his tweets most rich ppl in church don't empower their fellow church members

Have you guys ever thought of dbanj, don jazzy, davido tiwa savage and all your other idol celebrities try to do anything constructive and positive to empower the very young people they make their wealth from? No, instead its to keep buying cars and houses to flaunt and to keep drinking and getting high, easy to blame churches, Nigerian youths are seriously endangered species but a lot of people only see their vantage point and forget to give back cos they are reaping profits from the situation, they make all look okay and alright

because a pastor or a rich man hasnt helped you dosent mean he hasnt helped anyone... must he give out all he has worked hard for before people can say he has given.... pls give these pastors a break... if its soo easy why dont you find salvation yourself and get rich so you can give it all out to the poor... like it or nt alot of pastors are trying... and alot of them have impacted positively one way or another in many peoples life... im sure if i get to your church i will still meet people dat are struggling..... why dont you give out all your properties to them....
life is an individual race... if you want to give you give....im nt saying it is bad to give im just saying you dont impose it on people... you can advice people to give or even beg them too when neccessary but dont get all sarcastic and judgemental about it....and pls dont judge pastors or rich men... alot of them help people in ways you dont know... there are millions of people suffering all around the world and the fact that they havent helped you or anyone one close to you dosent mean they havent helped others..... they all worked for their money.. be it bussiness or running a church.... none of it is easy... it takes work... lets all learn to give for givers never lack... giving is gud... but first pay someones school fees before you accuse another of nt paying someones school fees....

Religion is the poison that will eat us up like cancer in Nigeria, Religion must have killed more than any disease since the beginning of this world. Religion is an establishment where money is taken from the poor and given to the rich, Even according to religion, God himself/herself or both , has a way of moving with time and civiliazation. God was so much in support of slavery and slaughter of innocent people, sometimes according to the bible and I am certain it is there in the Quran.Leaving the word "holy" out for both. God will tell the Israelites to go ahead and kill a whole tribe of people, no leaving anyone behind, then God became civilised and it was only black people that are meant to be taken as slaves , beaten, chained and killed for fun, because the people who came down to Africa and started enslaving us were Christians before they came down to Africa. But God gave them the go ahead, I can imagine how much the James , Williams, Philips and those english guys who came to Africa will go back to church to give thanks to God for letting them catch enough slaves after each trip, then suddenly God became civilised again and it was no right for black people to be taken as slaves, Not mentioning the Roman Empire when the Church rulled the world with Iron fist and anyone who said anything Unholy like what I am typing now about the Church will be killed( something like the way the Muslims will react when someone writes something Negative about Prophet Mohhamed (Salale wa salah) not sure how I was suppose to write that but anyway the whole point of this is to let you know Religion is BS. Designed by some genius and perfectly created to Fuck with the human mind.
Then it became to unspeakable to call someone Gay or someone to admit they are gay but all of a sudden God does not allow discrimination of gay people and now churches are embracing homosexuality even the unthinkable happened recently when a US Imam came out to admit he is gay. I dont understand what a christian President of Nigeria with Nuclear power would do if Isreal were to attack us or a Muslim President should one Crazy Saudi king decide to extend his tentacle. The moral of this long story is . I wonder what happens to all the good Muslim, Buddist, Jews, Sango Worshippers who go about their normal lives without hurting no body but they do not believe in JESUS CHRIST, will they go to Hell and if that is not the case like the Pope said recently , that means the Bible is not such a perfect book anyway. On a final note, dont mind my spellings or grammatical construction, Just try and think with a free mind and think about what you just read be you Christian, Muslim or whatever you have decided to fuck your brain with. Lets start emancipating ourselves from Mental slavery. Jesus is white and the Devil is Black, Angels are white................... If you are a christian ot Muslim and probably due to the the fact that all this would be so hard to explain for anyone in Nigeria because of the level of illiteracy , go to church , follow the rituals so as to seem normal , but do not drop a penny, help that little kid in your area pay his school fees, help that widow struggling to take care of her kids, help that disabled man get a wheelchair or something with that money. Rohinga Muslims are dying everyday in Myamar and most of them are living on water and mudy environment because they have been chased away by Myamar monks, out numbered and rejected by Bangladesh , I wonder how many of them would fit into all this our greedy Pastors jet? I wonder how much it would cost a church to get them a shelter , school and feed them for as long as possible, probably right in the middle of Maduiguri. How is mode of preaching Gospel of Jesus Christ to them not better than flying in private jet to pray for some bunch of yahoo boys in Malaysia ?? Common who the F is fooling who?

omo steph,i was reading your comment when i came across"dont impose people to give"you may be a pastor. But do you know pastors imposes their members to donate tithes and offerings in large amount too?I had been to a church where pastor berated congregation for donating #5 to #20.Giving food to needy is not empowerment. You can ask him/her their profession.capitals may be their obstacle.some people are trickish tho,you should test and investigate them if they are truely what they claim.
*cheers*

This is a good talk. Hmmmnnn I pray, God will open our eyes to the need of others. People are so confortable when they use you to achieve what they want not minding what you want to become.

Food for thought
