E4 PR and HekCentrik Productions confirm their Hollywood feature film, “Turning Point”

HekCentrik Productions, the makers of Africa’s first digital 35mm picture “TWisTED”, today formally announces their next feature, a Hollywood feature titled “Turning Point”.
The movie is Executive Produced/Directed by Niyi Towolawi (CEO of HekCentrik Productions) and Co-produced by Egor Efiok (CEO of E4 PR).

The project has been generating a buzz in recent months amongst people in the know within the industry that a Hollywood film starring Nollywood stars in leading roles is in pre-production.

Said Niyi Towolawi, CEO of HekCentrik Productions and writer/director of “Turning Point”, “we start principal photography in less than a month and the excitement couldn’t be greater.”

Set in New York, the plot explores ethnic prejudice amongst the various black communities in America (a la “Crash”) and centres around a Nigerian investment banker that bows to family pressure to abandon his American sweetheart for an arranged wife from back home. His life is turned upside-down when the marriage turns out not too rosy, setting off a chain of events that forces him to confront his reckless past.

It features Nollywood stars Jackie Appiah, Igoni Archibong (E4 PR Star), Patience Ozokwor (Mama Gee), Enyinna Nwigwe, Ebbe Bassey and Chelsea Eze (E4 PR Star), alongside Hollywood actors Lauren London (“ATL”, “I Love You, Beth Cooper”, “Good Hair”), Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”, “Law and Order”, “Desperate Housewives”), Todd Bridges (“Diff'rent Strokes”, “Everybody Hates Chris”), Cynda Williams (“Mo’ Better Blues”, “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”) and Joe Estevez (“Apocalypse Now”, “Spanish Fly”).

The Hollywood production crew who have worked on numerous Hollywood blockbusters are very keen to bring to life this innovative approach of Africa-centric storytelling. “They are nothing but a dream team and it’s amazing how they have caught the vision and passion that we convey”. The crew includes award-winning FX makeup artist and E4 PR Star, Lola Maja-Okojevoh.

There will be daily blogging from the set courtesy of Co-producer/E4 PR’s CEO, Egor Efiok (check E4 PR's blog and website) and video diaries will feed the EPK (electronic press kit) television shows, a “behind the scenes” and a “making of the movie” respectively.

Filming begins middle of October in America, followed by a trip to Nigeria for additional scenes. “Our crew is very excited to visit Nigeria and a film workshop with Nollywood professionals is being lined up for their time there”, says Towolawi.
Egor Efiok adds, "Writing this movie with Niyi has been a marvelous and bonding experience. My ideas are usually unique and unusual and I found it difficult to collaborate with like-minded people until I met Niyi. We are the perfect tag team and you will definitely be hearing more from HekCentrik Productions and E4 PR in the near future".

Incredible! In a single press release for a movie, the PR company mentioned itself a whopping EIGHT TIMES, the name of the owner of the PR company another EIGHT TIMES, the name of the production company FIVE TIMES and the title of the movie just TWO TIMES. A movie about to start in 2 weeks with no poster, so let's just put up a picture, you guessed it, it's the PR company owner. Who wants to bet she will also appear in the film wearing the company tshirt?

Bad, Bad Belly / Jealousy / Envy:

You seem jealous and full of hate. Why? Your man / woman left you? Or is it just that time of the month??? She took your man? Why you bitter? She mentioned this and that x amount of times, so what? You actually spent your time counting how many times she mentioned her name, company name and title of the movie? You're so sad, really. Get a life, really.

Constructive Criticism:

Read Egor Efiok's press release. Liked it, but felt it was too long and full of too much unnecessary information. I liked it - business wise - because she is making things happen for herself and others, etc. For that, I give her 200% + applause. For the press release, I can't give her 100%. There's room for improvement. I give her 85%. A good press release should be (Who, What, When, Why) mindful of the reader's time, straight to the point, maximum of 4 paragraphs and about 400 words max. The lengthy version or waffle should have been posted on her blog or website.

Get a life! Linda bad belle people are too much on this blog joor, Meanwhile Congrats to the entire team, abeg act inside if all of you want to,all we want is a better global appeal for Nollywood, and Congrats to my Nollywood sugar banana Enyinna Nwigwe,it's most def. @ Anonymous 11.24am - You are funny omg!!! Sha, great observation but I must disagree with one small point, you cannot have a poster for the film when shooting has not begun - they are still in the preproduction stage and simply announcing who they've gotten attached to the project. Posters for films are often inspired by images from the film so how can they produce one when they've not started work on the film yet? Cut them a little slack, abeg lOL

@Anon October 6, 2011 3:40 PM. May God forgive you! You are pathetic! If black on black crime wasn't illegal, I'd knocked you out! LOL. On a serious note, how did you or do you know that Egor Efiok / E4PR is Linda Ikejis's friend? Why do I ask? I think you already know. One person, you, is pretending to be two persons. Your comment is like someone with inside information and pre-existing dislike or hatred of Egor Efiok / E4 PR. She snatched your man?! You women - especially black Nigetian women, you people are always envious of each other! You all should cut out the stupid beef / dissin and fuckin grow up. Here's someone hustling to make it rather than fuck around (like so many black women, especially Nigerians) or depend on a man or sugar daddy and all you do is tear her up? Jealousy is a decease; get well, soon.

@ Pointless Celebrity, no I am not jealous or envious of whoever this person is. And yes I do have a life and a job, in Public Relations if you want to know. I admit I was a little sarcastic but my point is still valid, as you yourself took time to break it down and it shows we're both saying the same thing. I work in PR and these type of self serving PR is a no no in our business. As a PR agent you do not use the main focus to publicise yourself, even if you're involved in the film. The film should be the main focus not the PR company, ask any proper PR person.

@ Nara, not all comments are out of envy, envy of what? A press release is progress story for you? Sorry sweetie I pity you. And @ Pointless Celeb, on the issue of if I have time on my hands, your comment was twice as long as mine.

Don't expect another comment from me. I read Linda and never comment. I just did this because it concerns my line of work.

PS. My man is sitting behind me right now giving me a neck rub and it's leading somewhere, my time of the month is not for 2 weeks, so bite me bitches.

Okay, people. Egor Efiok seem harmless and I don't think she or Linda Ikeji posted the press release to piss anyone off. Peace, goodness and goodwill to ALL.

Now, put your guns away :)

@ Doubting Thomas

FACT - This is a terribly done press release. I still can't remember who the ACTS are or the name of the movie.

Instead of coming on here as various anons, work on your releases or better yet - pay someone to do it for you.

@ the first Anon and FTW: Thanks for your observations/corrections; i do listen to constructive criticisms and your points have been noted.

@ Pointless Celebrity and Doubting Thomas: I feel so touched to see you sticking up for me like this. You sound like someone that really knows me @ Pointless Celebrity because all you said about my hard work is very true. I work all round the clock and hardly sleep and i always say that God does reward hard work cos He is very faithful. I pray this prayer for you from the bottom of my heart: May God bless yourselves and your families and may all your hearts' desires be fulfilled IJMN- AMEN. I may not get it right always cos i'm far from perfect, but when you wish people well the way that you've done, God always rewards you; this is why i'm very appreciative of your comments. Thanks again, God bless you.

@ Linda: I'll miss you my dear friend, but will try as much as i can to keep in touch. There is a Turning Point Movie tab on both my website and blog and i will be posting regular updates and Behind The Scenes footage under both tabs, so you can take info from there that you'd like to blog. Talk soon girl. Stay blessed. Xxx
