Photos: Nigerian Army council orders release and reinstatement of Brigadier-General Ransome Kuti

The Nigeria Army Council has recommended the release and reinstatement of Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti who has been under house arrest at an army barrack in Abuja.

This is contained in a confidential memo obtained by Sahara Reporters which also shows that the council ordered a reduction in his rank from Brigadier General to Colonel.

Brigadier General Kuti, the son of human rights activist, Beko Ransome-Kuti and nephew of Fela Kuti was arrested in January 2015 and tried for cowardly behaviour and accused of abandoning his duty post in Baga where he was commander of a joint multinational task force which resulted in Boko Haram militants' attack and capture of Baga.

The court martial also accused him of failure to account for the weapons and ammunitions under his supervision which includes three multipurpose light-armoured towing vehicles (MTLB in Russian), three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two pan herd and three Sagie.

The Brigadier General was represented at the court-martial by human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana.

Hmm! I am staring at this man's face trying to see Beko Ransome Kuti's face in it but I can't. He doesn't look like his late father at all. And it is awkward that Fela's nephew would join the military after the hate Fela had for the military.

Why did He have to join the military in the 1st place after all they did to his uncle Fela? Now it's his turn.

He would have done much better for himself in another field.

It had to take the intervention of human right activist "Falana" for the military to rescind their decision. Anyways it's a good dev

Enitan, they are doing all these to u because your uncle and father are not alive. Fela for one would have gone to the studio to release one big album to lash them while your father would have taken to the street to protest and mobilize every mobilizable both human and animals. In fact we miss Fela because by now PMB would have sat up, he should ask OBJ how far? He is still alive. Entangled don't lose hope or despair, it is well and the lord is your strength this is not a casting down because there will definitely be a lifting up. Be of good cheer.
