was so dark, and then came the twin girl looking really fair. The boy
looks exactly like his dad, while the girl looks like me. If they don't wear the same
colour clothes when we go out, people don't really ask if they are twins
unless they start to want mummy. Then the questions start flooding "why
is one so dark?, they don't look like twins etc."

You can have identical twins of different sexes. Your babies are two fertilized eggs and so this can very well happen. Lindas previous report is about identical twins from one egg which divided to give two babies, therefor the surprise qs two how one egg can give both dark n fair complexion.

Madam, in your case, it's common cos it was two eggs that was fertilised which means the twins can not be identical but in the case of Linda ' s previous post, it was one fertilised egg which broke into two. They shared the same placenta but they came out looking opposite of each other instead of being identical

There are so many unidentical twins nah... Twins are either identical or fraternal... That is they could be one sperm n one ovum (identical) or 2 ova fertilised by 2 spermatozoa. Anyway, biology have got a way to settle this thing sha. Rarely but it happens, a woman may release 2 eggs simultaneously and when both eggs are fertilised the babies may or may not look alike.
