17yr old Ghanaian accepted into all 8 Ivy League colleges in the US

17 year old Ghanaian-American Kwasi Enin, has been accepted into all 8 Ivy League colleges in the US. Yes, all 8 - from Brown to Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth and Columbia, all holding a spot for the violist and aspiring physician from William Floyd High School, Long Island.

This feat is extremely rare, as most top students do not apply to all colleges and even if they did, the acceptance rate into these schools are less than 10%. "By applying to all eight, I figured it would better the chances of getting into one”, Kwasi told NY Times.

Kwasi ranks No. 11 in a class of 647 at William Floyd, which puts him in the top 2% of his class. His SAT score, at 2,250 out of 2,400 points, puts him in the 99th percentile for African-American students.

"My heart skipped a beat when he told me he was applying to all eight," says Nancy Winkler, a guidance counselor at William Floyd High School, where Enin attends class. "In 29 years as a counselor, I've never seen anything like this. It's a big deal when we have students apply to one or two Ivies. To get into one or two is huge. It was extraordinary."
Kwasi (pictured above with his family) has a few months to decide which school he wants to attend.

Brilliant performance!! One that can never be achieved by majority of our Nigerian youths of today who are busy cramming all the latest songs of Davido and co, sagging their pants, chauffer driven to every hot spot in town, and posing with expensive phones and gadgets, all provided for by their millionaire clueless and highly corrupt parents!! The answer is not in expensive private schools because money does not buy intelligence. It is in dedication to studies, clear focus and a determination to succeed against all distractions. Parents, please help your children!

Doing great in another mans land and america for that matter is one sweet experience...... Congrat dude.....

This is a classic example of 'do not be deterred in working out your dreams, because it has never been done before does not mean it can never be done, it is just probably because someone has never tired it before, or they did not try it hard enough'...Congrats Boy!!..Do yourself proud

Nope, this is what happens when parents do there work of actually raising their kids. Not nannies, not God, just hard work on your part as a parent. Engage them in other activities as well s school work. Broaden their horizon.

See me God ooo!!! This is my 7th attempt at JAMB and still no news. I will never loose hope; the attempts continue.

A big congratulations to him. This is very inspiring, may God bless his hustle he is hot cake and not only is it hard to get in it is also expensive, it is for the rich and Elite. Well done sweet heart my only advice now is to be careful of the women you pick because a woman can be the downfall of a good man already look at what Iyanya was saying smh. Lord bless me like that too

kenni said...

This is a great achievement. It's indeed a rare feat. Wish him many more successes in future.

Congratulations!

Oluyemi said...

A big congratulation to Kwasi and his proud parents. This is simply a result of hard work and God's favor. Children of nowadays should take a cue from him. Stop cheating at examinations. Cheating does not pay you but hard work does. My pray is that he will not relent and get 'swollen headed' but continue to work harder still. Remember the saying that says 'Don't rest on your oars'!.......am I correct guys out there? I wish you the best in your future endeavor. Great job!!!!
