Katie Price backtracks after receiving criticism for saying she would have aborted her son if she knew he'll be disabled

Ex-model and TV Personality Katie Price has backtracked comments she made during an appearance on Loose Women, an ITV chat show saying she would probably have aborted her son Harvey had she known about his disabilities while she was pregnant.

Her 13-year-old child, Harvey, from a previous relationship with retired footballer Dwight Yorke, suffers from a rare genetic condition called Prader-Willi syndrome, as well as autism, ADHD and blindness.

On the show she revealed she would have aborted him if she knew he'll be disabled because as at the time of pregnancy she didn't know what life will throw at her.

Speaking on Loose Women, she said:
'I was young when I had Harvey and I admit it: If I'd have known he was blind when I had him, as harsh as it sounds, I probably would have aborted him.'
'Now it's like oh my god, no way,' she said. 'Now if they said I was going to have a child with disabilities, I would definitely keep it. I would even adopt a child with disabilities.
'Until you are in that situation, you don't know.'
She said: 'Anyone who’s a carer, mother, anyone dealing with disabilities, I have so much respect because I know what goes into it.'
She added: ‘I absolutely love Harvey so much. I would never change anything about him
'Yes it’s challenging, but it’s also rewarding. He’s a great character and I love him. I don’t think anyone should be ashamed at all if they’ve got a child with disabilities.’
The ex-model received a lot of criticism online after making her revelations while some also praised her for coming out to say 'the truth' and Katie took to Twitter to backtrack her comments and praise the son. See her tweet and other people's tweets below...

Don't mind them. She totally hates him. She is just trying to sound politically correct. That boy is not safe in her care.

Children are gift from God no matter how they happen to look like after birth, she should be thankful to God for blessing her,but for her to wish aborting the child if she knew his condition before birth, then I pray to God to bless her with more disabled children, infact may all her children be disabled sick woman!

99% of women, if the issue of abortion weren't so moralistically bandied, would, given prior knowledge of the enormous challenges raised with raising a challenged offspring, abort.

They just won't publicly admit same ...

What this boy is passing thru is most times caused by the mother. when girls get pregnant without planning, the fetus at times have this disability as a result of the girls been on drugs, alcoholism before they even realize they are pregnant. The effects of this substances must have affected the developing fetus. At birth, the baby will look fine and they hail her that she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. As this baby grows older, you will see some strange features in them. Unplanned pregnancy is very bad, especially our so called baby mamas. *word*

DR. David whatever...shut up. What do you know about life and having a child with a disability? Your own kind, I mean blacks across Africa do kill and leave their children to die or run away from them. Look at the situation of people with disabilities across your neighbourhood, even you you pretend to be better when you meet a person with a disability on the streets. I hate blacks really for being hypocrites

It doesn't matter who she is. Just contribute to the topic.
Even though good luck!

Get informed before commenting. Katie was an adult already. Get the sense of the topic. Disabilities aren't only connected to substance abuse, its genetic at times!!!

Bless you anon 12.50pm. I don't know why people are being hypocritical. One child has a syndrome, is blind and adhd. Ah! Joor oh

Raising a child with a genetic disability is the hardest thing a person can ever do. That child depend on you 100 percent for every thing in life. I know this because I have a child with disability and I tell myself this all the time that if I knew about it while I was pregnant, I would have aborted her. ITS NOT EASY! People can judge her for saying what every mother with a disabled child is thinking. She's lucky she even has money ans can afford to pay for help. What about people who can't afford to care for those children? What then happens to them? Lets stop with the way we judge people because if you don't wear a shoe, you won't know where it hurts. I've been there, done that. And if I can go back in time, I will do things different and not have that child. And to the the person linking disability to the mother's drug use,you are wrong Autism is one of the disabilities that you cannot blame a mother for. You can blame a mother for "Fetus Alcohol Syndrome" (if the mother was an alcoholic while pregnant) or even crack baby, if the mother was on crack. But there's hardly scientific proof that children develop autism from mother's drug use. There are so many factors in play here. Its can be as a result of many things, actually. A child may develop autism after taking vaccination that didn't agree with his genetic components.
