With $30 oil price, we have to proritize and downsize our promises- Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, says with oil prices sliding to as low as $30 per barrel, the APC-led government will have to downsize or prioritize on the promises it made during the election campaigns. Lai said this to Channels TV
"When you campaign, you say you’ll do A, B, C, but when you win elections, you’ll priotize. We were elected for a four-year period, not for one year. Things, we hope, will not be bad all through these four years.
We are still faithful to those promises, but as you have rightly said, when we were campaigning, the price of crude was $100 a barrel. Today, its $30 a barrel, so definitely, we would have to downsize some of the things we intended to do, or prioritize them but this does not mean abandoning those promises”he said

D-PinPointer Says: So what you are telling us is that you guys are dumb: smart people just don't make promises based on one given scenario, especially when other factors determines the stability of oil price.

Unknown said...

Who cares?

Come 2019, we know better never to trust APC ever again bcos of their failed promises.

It's actually true. You have to prioritize in order to have your promises fullfiled. But apparently Nigerians won't understand, they want the govt to perform miracles. The present hash state of the economic is not just felt by Nigeria alone, the oil price is a taking its toll in counties like Angola, Russia and all oil producer/exporter. It's going to be well, for now we have to cut our spending.

Oil was $48 dollars during your campaign last rural I don't know when you guys will stop lieing to innocent Nigerians.
having said that it's immoral/inhuman/disgraceful and unacceptable to downsize on promises instead of downsizing on government at all levels, what we have seen so far is more portfolio by your government. "SA on new media"

Unknown said...

True story...its not easy for the govt and the citizens keep mounting pressure on them

LIAR Mohammed, U make people angry any time you come on air and think Nigerians are fools or illiterates. U remain a fraud to many Nigerian and u have exhibited unrepentant characters, note that your sins will certainly hunt you down, U lie at per seconds billing truth has forgotten you but note all ur promises mostly N1 = $1, pump rice =N40,00, N5k for all unemployed monthly. 24\7 electricity, good medicare, no more going abroad for medicare, excellent roads etc. Boko Haram is APC baby, stopping them would not be seen as good job.

Fulani Herdsmen are killing innocent people even in their farmland. they boast Buhari is their chairman and he is in support of what they are doing nothing happen. let me just stop here

It was this same Minister who said that if the price of crude oil reduce to $5, our President would still perform. I begged to ask why the sudden change?????

senatorbayor said...

while its good for them to prioritize, the govt should equally note that the masses are watching them as any attempt not to meet up with those prioritize items and coming up with another excuses will not be acceptable.

Even the politicians knew that most of their campaign promises were not feasible even if the crude oil price is $200 cos of the process of achieving it (lack of database) just that my people thought the word CHANGE means heaven on earth.

how many of allowances, salaries, cost of these executhieves, legislooters and judisharing have been prioritized.

Nigerian Govt deceiving the people since 1878

Dat one na ur business. Make una arrange plan b

AJ MAIN BOY. ..

senatorbayor said...

I hope the govt have equally prioritize their own allowances, salaries and Avoidable Over head cost considering the excuses they are giving for prioritizing the campaign promises .

APC would have factored the negative and the positive so as not to over promise. However, they should remember that a promise is a debt.

Anonymous said...

God bless you. Sometimes I wonder if people reason at all. Or hate has just blinded them. Even in a family you can promise your child something, but later not be able to fufil it immediately because of funds.

Even if grude oil were to be sold at $150 per barrel oga lai moh'd go still find lie and excuse. What we've all seen in the APC-led government are lies, excuses, blame on the past government and chasing shadows. It's a big shame of the Buhari-Osinbajo led administration so far, i'm sure you guys saw leadership as bed of roses. What a shame!!
