FG to inject N350bn into the economy

Minister of Finance, KemiAdeosun, today disclosed plans by the Federal government to inject N350 billion into the economy. Speaking with reporters in Abuja today, Adeosun also disclosed that there are plans to also raise $1 billion from Euro-bonds by mid-December to ease the recession.

According to Adeosun, the N350 billion being injected will be directed towards capital expenditure projects. “We are raising money. As you know the Euro-bond capital raise is on. We are about to appoint advisers so we we will be raising additional $1 billion.

Two weeks ago we approved the external borrowing plan and that was very important,”she said

The Minister said the Federal government plans to borrow N1.8 trillion from the African Development Bank, China, Japan and World Bank with rates of 1.25 per cent and a 20-year maturity. She added that the borrowed money will be used to fund an expected budget deficit of N2.2 trillion.

“When we said we will borrow, we said we will borrow the cheapest money first. We have approvals in that plan from the World Bank, ADB, with interest rates as low as 1.5% and tenures as low as forty years to intervene in some specific areas which include agriculture, education, health, rebuilding of the northeast and of course the rail way project that are very key to what we are doing”she said

The economy can never grow In this 21st century without a steady power supply throughout the country! Investors can't come into a country with no basics "electricity"

Won't you lot put the money you recovered from the loot in the economy? Is the money going like that? I see liar Mohammed and his fellow liars shinning their eyes on top of the money. Nigerians should call for proper accountability of the returned loot, otherwise these people will play with our brain and die the money. Why go borrowing that much when you recovered more than enough. Fraud alert!!, FG wants to play a fast one on Nigerians, let them account for the money they recovered before going to borrow on top of the debts Nigeria is owing. Nigerians wake up, call for accountability, "kwarruption fighter" account for the loot you recovered, it belongs to everybody.

Ok since you are more intelligent tell us the better solution you have?

Otherwise shut your trap. Everyone with basic economic sense knows that to get out of recession you have to spend. Go and read Obama's stimulus package of 2008 that got america out of recession .

If they like inject 100trn usd...with those incompetent folks manning ministries. Nothing will happen...how can someone that studied French be a minister of agriculture? Or a surgeon be a minister of youths and employment mehn what do they expect? Minister of aviation studied English...and the custom service by a military man...even the minister of finance previously head Osun state ministry of finance and according to my findings that state is the most indebted state in Nigeria. They banned rice...why?
Fuck this Nizooria

Story na small thing, how a woman with no good working experience, no impressive CV was hired to man the finance department baffles me till this day. CLUELESS is written all over her face, even when she talks she appears jiltery. Now I know NGOZI is fucking GENIUS. GOD will continue to enrich her where ever she is.

As they are Injecting N350Billion into the economy can they at least tell the CBN governor and his Monetary policy commitee that when they have their MPC meeting this coming monday and teusday they should reduce CBN interest rates to foster liquidity in the economy so the money can circulate to the right channels. if not 37% of that 350billion will not get into the economy. That's a whopping 12.95billion that would be held back by the CBN through their high MPR and CRR interest rates.

don't you care were the money is coming from

Pls don't be naive ehn

Let me just point out, that it took us time to get to where we are. For argument sake, if we blame PDP. They were in power for 16 years. Buhari is not a miracle worker, you need to give him time. Just one year and people are complaining. It's not easy, even me am desperately searching for a job. But you need to give time

@anon 5:35 , my dear Ngozi is nothing close to a genius. She was only hyped by Nigerians. If she was genius, she would have done or taken certain measures to save for these rainy days. Crude was at it's peak in the past administration, as the finance minister what did she so ?

Of which 349billion goes into the account of the government

Anonymous said...

Don't follow the crowd and complain about everything the government says especially if you don't have a better idea.

Successful businesses borrow to grow. So far as the money borrowed is spent on infrastructure projects and not stolen it would help the country out of recession.
