This is another wedding gown in the making. Lovely.

The royal wedding is already ended, why the glove?

Immediately i looked at it, i said what rubbish. I had to keep looking and then realised that the gloves spoilt the ensemble. It's not cold in London, so why the gloves?

A dress like that should be worn by a teenager on her high school prom dance, not by a classy first lady.

I guess her hairdresser was also off duty on that day.

I don't understand why anyone thinks this woman is a style icon. She either overdoes or seriously underdoes her dressing, but she NEVER gets it quite right.

The attention that is paid to her clothes in the media seems a bit patronizing to me.

SHE DINT HAVE TO WEAR THE GLOVES.. PRETTY WOMAN THOUGH

The gloves were wrote! Yeah an overkill!

Seems like tastes differ across the pond! Most websites in the UK and US(including Obama haters) loved the dress.
When i saw this picture, i thought the dress was hideous but after checking out the other pictures she took with the Queen and others, my opinion changed.I think the dress was appropriate for the occasion.

Am so sorry, i love Michelle but i hate this outfit. Way too much, looks like something worn over a deceased at burial...honestly,eeewwwww

THIS IS THE MOST ELEGANT I HAVE SEEN MICHELLE..THE GLOVES ARE EXTREMELY APPROPRIATE CONSIDERING THE OCCASION...
THOSE OF U THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND ETIQUETTE SHOULD KEEP YOUR IGNORANCE TO YOURSELVES...LIKE THOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT EVEN KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT DRESSING APPROPRIATELY..

Those hating the outfit, i guess if she wore 22inches of horse hair meaves, boots, and some hoochie mama outfit to like some of you like to wear u would have loved it...u have to be a certified local champion, and bush meat to criticize this ensemble..smh..

It’s amazing what money, education and living in a good country can do. Strip away the make up and dress and put her in an iro and buba and she will be like any Iya Tawa in Mokola, Ibadan. One day Nigeria go beta and our beautiful Ladies will all look like Michelle.

Me I like. Me I want.

You should have titled it 'Beauty of the day'.

I really like, if u watched it live u would have seen the deep plunge at d back of the dress. I think she added some Americanness to the usual prim n proper way of dressing by the Brits, so way to go Mchelle, thumbs up to u.....all u haters can go hug a transformer for all i care........"tongue out"

I like the Obamas, but I hate, hate this dress.

This is the worst dress i have ever seen Michelle Obama wear.

Whoever advised to wear this lousy and ugly dress ought to be sacked.

What's with the Victorian hand to armpit gloves? In this dress, she looks like a black waitress at Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.

Sorry.

such an inspirational woman-she's amazing! - i dont care what she is wearing - in a world where black women (especially dark skinned black women) have a bad image as baby mamas, loud trouble makers its nice to have someone so amazing represent us!

Why the gloves?
What a stupid question...the queen was wearing gloves. Did y'all notice that?

Try and read up a little on etiquette before posting on Royal dinners, your ignorance is showing.

no. no no....

this dress is bad. is the dress made of plaster of paris (POP) or they just wrap some 'babdage round the first lady?

she don jam trouble for america with this dress. fashion police will 'tear her to pieces' on this....mark my word o

yes, first lady must dress like those oyinbo people. those clothes do not look flattering on us, period! its only for shapeless white women. lol I KID, I KID! but truthfully, that outfit is hideous!

The dress and glove is appropriate for the occasion, she was at a dinner with the Royal family, what do u expect? Beautiful Michelle Obama. I love the Obamas. God bless them

She is sooo overhyped in terms of her fashion sense. I think she should fire her stylist. Why is she always in sleeveless or strapless dresses when she has a masculine body?!!! Not a good look at all, especially for a royal visit

It’s not compulsory to wear gloves to a Royal event. Those shouting off about ignorance and etiquette should shut the foxtrot up! If she chose to wear gloves, she could have worn another colour. Or better still if she wanted to stick to the colour of her dress, she should have worn lace gloves. She just seems too extra here. The dress is okay and her body shape sells it more.

I got this from a Royal website; In past, gloves were all but compulsory. The etiquette has of course relaxed since then, however more traditional Royals (especially the British ones) still wear gloves during official engagements.

As per the royal etiquette, long gloves should be worn at Gala Balls, Court presentations, “White Tie” dinners, dinners in Honour of a dignitary, formal indoor occasions, receptions, on arrival at a luncheon or dinner party and in all other similar cases.
Short gloves are worn upon discretion, however it is highly recommended to wear them in church (or places of worship), at semi-official events, practically at all outdoor events or events where you are expected to be introduced to a large number of people.

As for non-Royals who are presented to Royals, nowadays, it is not necessary to wear gloves during such ceremonies (unless otherwise warned beforehand): however if you do wear gloves, you should not remove them during the presentation.

The etiquette regarding gloves has considerably relaxed lately; the Scandinavian Royals, for example, hardly ever bother with them at all. And if they do wear those, most remove at least one glove upon arrival to great people more ‘informally’.

Someone wears gloves, other people start eating themselves up. What a country. She already wore the dress, so nobody can do anything about it. This is an unnecessary dissipation of energy. For God's sake, she was in Buckingham palace, the home of the 85 year old queen and her 90 year old hubby! Has any of you been there before?

Na wa for this Kim Kardashian generation o….someone just called that a prom outfit…SMH.

@ Anon May 25, 2011 1:30 PM. Tragedy. U be goat and your stupidity is all over your daft comment. Lady thicko, just cos the queen wear gloves that makes it fashionable? U dey for Naija and u dey chat sheeet :) We way we be black Naija Brits and dey here for London tell u that it's uncool and hideous and u dey argue? Wetin u know about fashion or British culture? Don't make me ask Linda to fetch you. Just cos the queen a human being was wearing gloves and that makes it okay young Mrs Obama to wear those hideous gloves? The Queen is an old woman and from an old era. Mrs Obama don't have to dress the way she wants. The Queen has been to African, Asian and Middle Eastern countries but have u ever seen her or any of her people in the gears of the countries they visit? Never. Have you ever seen the queen in Nigerian tradition wears? Never. When u visit them, they tell u in advance how to dress, but when they visit you fuckers in Nigeria can your president, Goodluck Jonathan tell the Queen or Prince Phillip to wear tradition clothing for any state occasion? Never. Not cos they are "royalty", but cos of the white man's superior racial mentality. Wise up, FOOLS.

Try and read up a little on etiquette before posting on Royal dinners, your ignorance is showing.
