Mystery Death In A Tailor's Shop

The two friends, Abiodun and Oluseyi lying dead inside a tailor's shop at Obalende, Lagos

The police in Lagos State, are trying to unravel how 29-year old Apatira Babatunde Abiodun and 30-year old Oluseyi Taiwo Abbey died at the weekend inside a tailor’s shop in mysterious circumstances.

It was gathered that the two friends were found dead at the weekend in a shop located at No 70, Ajeniya Street, Obalende, Lagos Island with blood stains in their mouths. Eye witnesses said they might have been poisoned.

Neighbours narrated that Abiodun and Abbey had gone to relax in the neighbourhood in the evening and returned to the shop where they usually sleep late in the night before they were discovered dead the following morning.

“The two of them were very good friends and they had been sleeping together for long. I was surprised the following morning when some people came shouting at my door to come out and see my son, and on getting there, I met the two of them dead with blood and foam coming out from their mouths.

“Now, nobody really knows where they went that night. I have left everything to Allah because he gives and he takes,” Sakirudeen Apatira, a printer and father of Abiodun said.

“I am still in shock over the sudden death of my son who was hail and hearty the night before the incident. My son and his friend told me they were going out in the evening of the previous day and when they came back, they also came to greet me and told me that they were back and were going to sleep,” he added.

The strange incident threw the whole area into confusion as onlookers gathered on Odo, Moshalasi and Toyan Streets to find answer to what might have led to the death of the two young men they all knew.

Biodun has been buried at Ikoyi Cemetery while Abbey has been taken to the mortuary by Onikan Police officers who are still investigating the matter.

Mystery indeed!! The Police should not have allowed for the other gentleman to have been buried regardless of religion. His body is clearly evidence in what can be deemed a crime scene and until the scene including bodies have been thoroughly investigated, they cannot be released. We need to start moving towards Best Practice in every area in Nigeria. Wishing all the families well.

"...Blood and foam coming out of their mouth..." This is obvious that they were poisoned.

Hey my dear Lord..and i can see they are scantily clad...this is clearly a homicide...the barbarism in Nigeria does not end and doesn't' cease to amaze me...

Did they leave a generator on?It could have been carbonmonoxide poisoning

First off, my question is, was the generator on? If so, they may have died of carbon monoxide inhalation.

Why are you always posting pictures of the Dead. It's not right Linda, please respect yourself. MSCHZZEWWWWW

Two of them seem to have died in their sleep sans a struggle, so it means they inhaled something during the night that caused their lungs to stop functioning...

Generator was what first came to mind...

This is clearly, carbon monoxide poisoning...

* If it was food poisoning, they would have enough time to come out and cry for help. The pain from the belly is not sudden, so it still gives some time to cry for help.

But with carbon monoxide, it kills gently, even the victim does not know he is dying. And most likely, the room they were sleeping is not well ventilated.

anon 12:31 pm scantily clad how?
are they supposed to wear a three piece suit to bed. they live in a shop for crying out loud - which millions do in lagos. hello u strip to your boxers if u dont want to die of heat.
carbon monoxide seems like the answer but blood and foam at the mouth?
anon at 3:36 pm - not all food poisoning is the way you think. some paralyze the muscles first in fact.

they obviously left a generator on and slept in a room without no ventilation...and they were naked?cos they were hot and needed the generator to keep the fan going but that does not stop the polluted smoke from the gen from killing them..that simply explains it too bad.most pple dont know how deadly the generator could be..even the ringing from ur mobile phone can brings generator to a blast and kill..

This Carbon Monooxide poisoning is becoming too popular. Why has the government neglected to force generator sellers to educate people on the use of generators. There should be adverts and safety radio commercials blowing the waves in a country like Nigeria, where people even own generators for a 2x2 shop. This is sad. And no they were not gay obviously, if not they may have been found on top of each other. RIP and i pray God gives their families the fortitude to bear the loss and sue generator suppliers and the FG for lack of awareness.

lol @ them not being gay or they would have been found on top of each other...

Do you sleep on top of or under your partner each night?

These people died from carbon dioxide poisoning. This is one notorious and silent killer in our communities today. Yet we would rather believe it's all poison and black magic.
Carbon dioxide is odorless and colorless. It kills by limiting the ability of the blood to carry oxygen to the brain. The brain cells deprived of oxygen for a few minutes leads to death.
