The bridge from Igando to Ayobo

This is the pako-bridge that you must cross with your car if you are going from Igando to Ipaja-Ayobo, around the Ikotun area of Lagos State. The bridge was built by a resident of the community after the govt failed to provide a link road between the two areas making it difficult for residents to visit each other in spite of the short distance separating them. There was a swamp that lay between the two communities so residents had to travel long distances to gain access to their adjoining areas. To cross this bridge with your car you have to pay N200, pedestrians N20, tricycles N50.

The bridge looks dangerous to me. Hopefully, govt will do something about it, maybe bring it down and construct a modern bridge. Pics thanks to Bunmi Azeez

A FB friend (you are on his list also) has said he heard its Fashola's next big project. It looks like it can give way anytime. Why a toll? I hope they will use the money they have collected to add to the proper construction!
Linda, hmmmmm; "that lied!" LOL!!

Yes, Linda.. It is dangerous to look at talkless of the vehicles passing this bridge...
What is Fashola going to do about it?

i think the toll is to recover the expence to costruct it by the resident who thought of it.

The bridge really does look dangerous.I hope the government does something about that side of the state in general, not just the bridge, the roads there(speaking of Ipaja-Ayobo)is something else.....really bad, that part of the state has long been neglected.

I have passed through that bridge before, believe me its not a good site, Fashola should really look into it because a whole lot of development will come into that area if a proper bridge is constructed their,

this bridge may look dangerous but you do have to praise the initiative that ordinary residents in the area took in constructing this makeshift bridge rather than waiting for the government to take action- this is exactly the initiative that we need if our country is to make progress. I also like that they charge users for the bridge because they use the money to maintain the bridge= well done, this makes me proud to be a Nigerian

Linda dats where i stay, i pass that bridge every day to work. i admit it's scary but wetin man go do?

very dangerous, the weight of any vehicle can destroy that bridge.
I am assuming the money charged is to recover the expense used by the guy who initiated the construction bridge.

i meant the construction of the bridge

Equity, fair play and transperence is grossly lacking in Nigeria. Where is SON- Standards Organisation of Nigeria? What does local government do these days, or the state government? It is not all about building bridges and paved roads in lekki, V.I and Ikoyi. What about Ikotun- Egbe, Mushin, Alaba, satellite town and all these areas?

That is my area,l passed there almost every time if l need to go to Igando,Festac,Ikotun,Ejigbo,Isolo,Idimu,Ago,Okota,Badagry,Agbara,Iyana-Iba.It makes easier than going to pass the long road with traffic. The person that sent the pictures kudos to you and to Linda that posted it weldone.

What do you do,when government refused to have a listening ear, this was initiated by a man and the toll he collect is to repair/maintain the bridge.

Please Government we are paying tax and l personally have not beneffited from the tax l have been paying over 10yrs ago, everyone of us dont have to live in Victoria Island,Ikoyi,Lekki. Open alternative route it will ease the traffic in Lagos.

Is it until someone dies on this bridge that is looking like giving way before fashola would do something about it? He has been there for 4 years and he still could not do anything well I hope this time he would not forget it ooo because this is a very dangerous bridge. Kudos to the person who thought of the idea but lives are at risk because the bridge does not look strong.
