Nigerian twitter users react to photos of a Zenith Bank staff kneeling before Fayose

A man said to be the branch manager of one of Zenith bank's branches in Ekiti state, knelt before Fayose when their team payed a visit to allegedly beg him, following media reports that the bank denied its involvement in the funding of his 2014 Gubernatorial election. Nigerians on twitter were not pleased with the photos and shared their thoughts. More tweets after the cut...

Why won;t he kneel and beg Fayose? do you guys know how much Fayose has in their bank? If he takes it away the bank will collapse

The man didn't know there were going to be cameras in the room. And he is just fighting for his job. That's the nasty side of the banking world. This doesn't mean Zenith did fund Fayose's elections; technically speaking, that is impossible. But Fayose wants to let the world believe Zenith bank really did fund his elections. Well, when EFCC comes out with the evidence, people will know better.

What do you expect, if people are told ekiti economy could be comatose they may not believe. Zenith probably knows majority of its funds are from Ekiti state employees and the government. But a typical Nigerian businessman also AKA the governor will continue to deceive ppl that Ekiti is working, probably has not been working since its creation. But the bank accounts of the governors and some employees has been working since its foundation. Nigeria a beehive of fraud since 1914.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION!

Why must every body be scared in thIs country to talk.the dictatorship is geting too much even a corporate body cant even stand for the truth.i think its high time pple shld come out of their shell and say out their opinion matters.if fayose must be investigated for campaign money, then every other person must be investigated starting frm the president to any other elected official in this regime.

they're weren't professional with their approach at all, in trying to keep face with Fayose, they've lost their face in the public, they'll have a great deal of work to do damage control wise, else dark days are ahead for them.

Your comment will be visible after approval.

This should be considered a torture and intimidation. Zenith Bank has the right to sue Fayose for abuse of office.
Only in Nigeria !!!

It is very simple. The governor is helping them stay profitable by giving them huge deposit and with this matter at hand now.. they are mostly likely to lose the whole benefits they are getting from the governor. There is also politics in Banking too. They have to kneel down and beg to sustain their business or else somebody would be punished. That's the process bankers face most times. But this time they have made it public.

The said loan was purchased by AMCON in 2011 after the capital base of Union Bank was terribly shaky,” Mr. Adegoke continued.

“And the Commonsense senator has persistently failed to pay the loans and yet has been pretending to be concerned with the welfare of Nigerians whom he has been skinning alive in order to remain relevant and live like a king.”

Mr. Murray-Bruce, who’s also a senator from Bayelsa State, has courted public attention lately with his distribution of video clips in which he could be seen proffering solutions to what he believed were the nation’s most critical challenges.

The populism messages, which he usually disseminates through his various media channels, have earned him both praises and derision from Nigerians home and away.

There is certainly nothing wrong with kneeling. It is professionalism. It is called customer management and this one action can retain the customer as well as d buoyant transactions, then it is justified. This guy is not just saving his job, he's saving d bank. Pls enough of d critics, some of have done worse to retain their jobs, biz even relationships sef

To me, this is a classic case of an optical illusion. Part staged, the more I look at the scene, the more it indicates that the kneeling man was there for a separate issue while the zenith bank staff were sitted on a sofa closer to the gov. He might as well be an aide or an associate on his pay roll. 90% of the time, zenith bankers wear red ties as the others sitted did. The pictures were leaked to the media with an obvious caption and ofcos, it would be too juicy not to run it on media platforms and wait for the bank to debunk it rather than confirm from the bank 1st. Note that zenith will ignore it to appease fayoses'ego. I'm loving the whole poilitcal movie these days, better than game of thrones..

What's the noise about kneeling down; things that go on at the government circle will always baffle the common man.

YOU CAN SAY OR WRITE WHATEVER YOU LIKE BECAUSE MOST NIGERIANS DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO GET ONE LUCRATIVE ACCOUNT LIKE THAT OF A STATE GOVERNMENT.

YOU ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO APPRECIATE WHY A THREAT OF CLOSURE OF SUCH AN ACCOUNT CAN MAKE EVEN THE MD/CEO OF ANY BANK TO KNEEL DOWN OR EVEN PROSTRATE FOR GOVERNOR.

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL ABOUT KNEELING DOWN FOR SOMEONE THAT IS CLAIMING THAT YOU HAVE OFFENDED HIM OR WHAT HAS PROFESSIONALISM GOT TO DO WITH SHOWING RESPECT TO AN ELDERLY PERSON IF THAT WILL MAKE HIM TO CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOUR BANK AND BY IMPLICATION, SAVE YOUR JOB .THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS!

PEOPLE ARE MAKING NOISE BECAUSE THE STUPID GOVERNOR PUBLISHED THE POOR BOY'S PICTURE BUT WORST THINGS HAPPEN BEHIND CLOSED DOORS :

-- BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, PERVERTED OLD MEN UNDRESS AND COMPLETELY GO NAKE IN FRONT OF LITTLE GIRLS WHO ARE EVEN YOUNGER THAN THEIR DAUGHTERS ALL IN THE NAME OF SEX FOR CASH

--BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, YOUR SO CALLED RICH PARENT PROSTRATE ON THE FLOOR EVEN BEFORE A LESSER BEING TO BEG FOR CONTRACTS

Quite sad when the people should be accusing d Govt. Of conspiracy & lack of Change focus...especially with such huge evidence to defend d Gov...imagine some o them r surfering seriously...igeria will die in slavery to their leaders if we continue like this.

it is a big deal peeps for a professional to kneel down. This is dragging professionalism to the mound. For all i care this could have been at gun point. Things are not always the way they seem

CHIEF AJANAKUKOJAAMORINKANFIRI said...

THAT IS A TYPICAL ZENITH STAFF FOR YOU. PEOPLE SHOULD PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT THE TIE COLOUR. GO TO THEIR BRANCHES, THEY DON'T ALWAYS WEAR RED TIES! THEY ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR ANY TIE COLOUR! USE YOUR SENSE.

This is one of the reasons why Nigeria cannot progress. Where is professionalism here? Such a pity
