My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year now, we recently discovered he had bilateral varicocele ( a dilation of veins in the scrotrum which negatively affect semen peremeters in terms of count, motility and morphology) he had less than 2mil count while motility and morphology of his sperm was also not good. He had surgery to have it resolved using the (varicocelectomy procedure) some weeks ago and from the look of things everything seems right as we have even resumed BD
Would like to hear experiences of people that may have gone through this and when conception happened after the surgery

Hello writer, I did have the same issue when I got married, my husband went through the procedure as yours did and about 7 months later, I became pregnant through natural means. I have to state here that prior to the surgery, I had tried ART and had no success . I think you will need to check the sperm count after a while thouh I am not certain of the exact time frame, however, keep the hope alive
You r lucky he followed you to seek help. Most men will rather die than see a doctor over their privates issue.

It's not a big deal atall.... It's actually pretty common in guys. Hubby had the surgery, we have 3 kids! Relax and enjoy the ttc process. Easier said than done I know, but worrying doesn't help

She sounds like a very dutiful and caring wife. My advice is that she she be patient since they are back in action the baby will come. Dear LIB reader, I never comment on blogs but your situation drew me out.
My husband and I were in the same situation, but his Urologist and my Ob/Gyn recommended we do IVF/ICSI. This recommendation was because sometimes after surgery for Varicocele, Antibodies may develop which would still in the long run hinder conception, and also I was in my prime years (less than 28 years old). We complied and are blessed with GBGG quads who are almost 6 years old. I would advice professional advice from fertility experts, but please hold off on the surgery for now.

I had the same procedure in 2009 after seven years of marriage. My wife took in about 10 months after the surgery. We now have three beautiful kids. Be sure that you will take in. Also read about the procedure on the Internet. It will guide and assure you better than most of the comments here. Best of luck.
