Photos: ..and here's what Ago-Okota Road looks like...

Yesterday I showed you the road that leads to Nigeria's premier port (see that here). Well, here's another road you guys need to see. This is the Ago-Okota road in Lagos. Business owners in the area say businesses have been forced to close because of the condition of the road...and residents say moving to and from their homes is a nightmare. See more photos after the cut...

Linda if you must know there is no government in oshodi isolo LGA,you need to see the linking roads like Ali Dada,Taiwo, Enoma, and the worst of it all is the Policemen who lay in wait to extort money from motorist Claiming ''ONE WAY'', For using the only short good route,Send your team to investigate this act always happening at Ali Dada/Tarred road turn everyday 5-6am

What is LASG doing about this axis>>>>>>Tell your landlords to withdraw their case in court before we can construct this road...Gov Fashola. And they are the govt of the people...how sad.

Unknown said...

See the issue here is that the Landlord are taking Lagos State Government to court for expansion (you get what l mean). BRF went there and told, so what do they want, they should settle themselves jare.

This is what I suffer there everyday. Is it because the environment is covered with Igbos that the state govt has refused to do something? On Sat and Sun, I had to run up to the room upstairs to sleep cos of flood as the entire ground floor was submerged despite the new landscaping. The occupants of the next building to my house have ran away cos of flood. I don't wanna believe that it is politics of tribalism. Pls, gov Fashola should do something ASAP.

Exactly!! The pictures the capture the exact state of the road. My friend and I spent 3hours there yesterday just to boycott the traffic at mile2... It was a terrible experience. And they are busy having elections. I went through Ago some days ago in ny bid ti avoid the Mile-2 traffic. U saw the exact same thing. The water was so high, it sipped right through the upholstery in my SUV and wet my trouser. The next day, I tried Mile-2 and ended up spending seven hours on what should be a 45 minutes ride to the airport. I missed my flight to the U.S. Nigeria tire man o. It is like no government exist.

Don't you want something to be done about the roads? You should encourage her to show more so that the right people would see it and act

Tecres Technologies said...

I hardly comment on blogs but this i can't ignore. I have lived in this area for more than 20 years and the roads are getting worse everyday.
The most annoying fact is that half of the road was awarded to CCECC which was constructed from Okota roundabout to Century and badly terminated with no hope of completing it to Amuwo Odofin. This road is a major road linking Festac town which can take away the heavy toll from Mile-2, yet our government officials in power choose to look the other way. They continue to re-tar the highbrow areas like Ikoyi and the likes while turning Ago Palace Way to almost a slump. The streets are worse off, even the major ones that can take the traffic off Okota road? God help us all.

Anonymous said...

liar not only US but trinidad and tobago

Anonymous said...

For some of you shouting about neglect of the road because of Igbos resident there, Is this road different from Niger street in Fegge, Onitsha or Aba township roads?
Politicians are the same everywhere in Nigeria.
None of them cares for you.
Fashola's case is that he concentrates on Elite domains; Island and Ikeja, to him, other areas residents should 'go and die' apologies to his friend, Oshiomole.

Anonymous said...

These pictures are an understatement of the reality. I drove on that road today and it is TERRIBLE. It is shameful that such a road exists in Lagos. Fashola should respond timely to this issue. Cursed are every politician using Nigeria's money for personal benefits.

Anonymous said...

Please snap out of your archaic tribalistic mentality. Road is bad period. Doesn't matter the tribe there, the road needs to be fixed. Corruption has no tribe. Wake up and stop the self pity.

Anonymous said...

YOUR PIX DO NOT SHOW THE POSITION OF THE ROAD, ITS 'BADDER AND WORSTER' THAN THAT , YOU DONTY GET TO SEE CAR TYRES AND SALOON CARS PASSING THERE WONT LAST 3 TRIPS BEFORE ITR COST THE OWNERS HUGE COST OF REPAIRS. ITS A DEAD ZONE

Anonymous said...

If they discriminate, go back to your village. Stop the nonsense tribal talks. Do you pay taxes? Fix yourself first. Be the solution and not the problem.
