Dad is Yoruba, mom is American, my parent are happily married. They both have different history, experiences, but at the end of the day they both share the same skin color. We hate on each other so much and forget what we have in common is much bigger than all the negativity. We live in a neighborhood with Jewish, Persians and Asians. They are all so united except for us. You can't complain when you see Jews hanging or doing business with their people, same goes for Persians and Asians. It's not always a pleasant experience but what they have at the back of their mind is, people with my skin color, who look like me will always be my people. When I hang out with them, I have never ever heard them say any negative things about each other, even when they don't agree or get along that well with each other. It's about four other black families in my neighborhood but when we try to hang out, it's so much of putting each other down, a lot of competition, and saying so much negative things about each other. Making fun of each other's looks, hair, skin to the features. The children, including the adults.
My dad is a doctor, has his own practice. It's normal to have your own people support you. When an Asian man opens a restaurant, majority of Asian eat there to support him. My friend's dad who is a pediatrician, majority of the Jewish children in my neighborhood go to him. But, not in my dad's case. Most of his patients are non blacks. One of the black family told us, she prefers a White doctor to a Black one for whatever reason. So, this dynamic of hating on our own for no reason NEED TO STOP. It starts from loving yourself, what you have, who you are, and what God has blessed you with. So, when you see your people, you are able to say positive things.
No group of people needs encouragement, advice, uplifting than Africans/Blacks in general. Let's learn to acknowledge/appreciate each other's effort, and give constructive criticism. If you don't have anything nice to say except negative, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Non blacks do it all the time.

There's a difference between constructive criticism and just being negative for no reason.
This is the result/product of colonialization, slavery and the impact of white superiority that is subconsciously affecting us. Can we rise above it? YES, WE CAN. It starts from home/family.
Dad is Yoruba, mom is American, my parent are happily married. They both have different history, experiences, but at the end of the day they both share the same skin color. We hate on each other so much and forget what we have in common is much bigger than all the negativity. We live in a neighborhood with Jewish, Persians and Asians. They are all so united except for us. You can't complain when you see Jews hanging or doing business with their people, same goes for Persians and Asians. It's not always a pleasant experience but what they have at the back of their mind is, people with my skin color, who look like me will always be my people. When I hang out with them, I have never ever heard them say any negative things about each other, even when they don't agree or get along that well with each other. It's about four other black families in my neighborhood but when we try to hang out, it's so much of putting each other down, a lot of competition, and saying so much negative things about each other. Making fun of each other's looks, hair, skin to the features. The children, including the adults.
My dad is a doctor, has his own practice. It's normal to have your own people support you. When an Asian man opens a restaurant, majority of Asian eat there to support him. My friend's dad who is a pediatrician, majority of the Jewish children in my neighborhood go to him. But, not in my dad's case. Most of his patients are non blacks. One of the black family told us, she prefers a White doctor to a Black one for whatever reason. So, this dynamic of hating on our own for no reason NEED TO STOP. It starts from loving yourself, what you have, who you are, and what God has blessed you with. So, when you see your people, you are able to say positive things.
No group of people needs encouragement, advice, uplifting than Africans/Blacks in general. Let's learn to acknowledge/appreciate each other's effort, and give constructive criticism. If you don't have anything nice to say except negative, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. Non blacks do it all the time.
