Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has criticized those agitating for Nigeria's break up, saying that they see nothing good in the unity of the country.
The Vice President stated this on Tuesday while meeting a delegation of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) led by Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande.
The Vice President stated this on Tuesday while meeting a delegation of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) led by Alhaji Musa Liman Kwande.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari is a leader who possesses the willingness and passion "to ensure this country is a united country".
"A lot of those who say we are better divided as a nation, don’t understand that the greatness of this country lies first in its diversity and then in the size of the country.
"It is better to be a part of a great thing than to be one tiny part of something that is not necessarily great. So, I think that we must not allow those who advance personal causes to defeat the very strong objectives of bringing this country together as a nation and forging ahead", Osinbajo said.
"This country has men who are determined to remain honest, straight forward and are able to speak their minds without deceit."
In an address read by Senator Girei, former Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Coomassie, lauded the Federal Government under Buhari for its achievements especially in degrading insurgency in the North East. He informed the VP that the Forum is organising a security summit that will bring all stakeholders together to articulate strategies that will address the menace of insecurity and proffer practical solutions towards ensuring sustainable peace and development in the country.
The Vice President expressed support for the proposed security summit being organised by the Forum, noting its importance at this time in the nation's history.
"It is a very important thing, the security of this country is a very important thing."

If not for the fact that splitting may come with a lot of bloodshed. Nigeria is not really one nau, let's face it.... We would fare better, each tiny bit.
What great thing are you talking about, Sir?
Hope it's the mischievious Nigeria!!!
It is simple, if we don't break up peaceful, then war will be the last option.

Is dude still a Pastor or he's backsliding? Whats the great thing about this scam called Nigeria. We need to divide Nigeria into at least 4 countries. Hausas can have their fucking slavery country, Igbos their Biafra, Yoruba go their way then Niger their own country too. Enough of this fake marriage called Nigeria
That was why Jesus Christ rejected His people's attempt to make Him King. Can the VP claim he was not aware of the lop-sided appointments his master made (in the appointment of Service Chiefs) in 2015; and his other devil-may-care attitudes in governance? He cannot claim to be an area pastor while he keeps turning a blind-eye to evils of governance. God is watching him (the VP). I strongly believe he knows that God is no respect of persons when He begins His Judgements. What has he spoken since the entire South South and South East are being marginalized, murdered in cold blood? What has he spoken since Christians are being massacred everywhere by Fulani herdsmen? Somebody should better read the scriptures to his hearing because he may have not been reading it since he went into politics. The North wants One-Nigeria, yet they cannot allow you practise your religion; and will even want you to forcefully join their own which jihadically converts people unlike Christianity that converts by persuasion. So many things to say here; but I rest my case for now.
Mr Vice President, Sir, the greatest danger to the existence of Nigeria as a nation is not from those wishing to secede. It comes mainly from the North and its agenda to politically dominate and islamize the country. You are a smart man and I know you know this. But, of course, you are playing politics. Right, Mr VP?
Pls can some one open the bible to him ,
I seldom comment.. Vp's statement should be the other way round.. it is better to be small and great than to be big and fruitless.. Considering, we were all made different by the creator so we can go through the process of living together, it is better to be a president of ur own different self and then live together than be presided over by another.. Regards
So because of unity we should all be slaves to some people who believe they own Nigeria.
what is Unity in the midst of social and economic injustice.
what is Unity in the midst of oppression of the many by the few.
what is unity in the midst of double standard and inequality by government.
what is Unity in the midst of cover ups, nepotism and tribalism in government appointments.
what is Unity in the midst of wanton killings of innocent people without any form of punishment to the killers.
what is unity when those who stole the wealth of this country and plunged millions of Nigerians into into poverty, created a bleak future for the youths, totally destroyed our value system and created El Dorados for themselves and their unborn great grandchildren are being wholeheartedly welcomed with open arms into the ruling party while the betrayed electorate shake their heads in shock and disbelief..
I respect this man a lot. I least expected this trash coming from his mouth but who am I to change the nature of an average yoruba man, pastor or no pastor. Cowardice and not able to say the truth in all situation has been their thing since 1914
Has there been anything good about Nigeria before. Nigeria is heading for doom. But only urgent restructuring may save it
abeg next?
-D great anonymous now as Vivian Reginalds
YOU ARE WRONG PROF. I RATHER BE ONE TINY PART OF SOMETHING NOT GREAT BUT HAPPY AND LOVED AND WITH A FUTURE THAN BE A PART OF SOMETHING GREAT BUT WITH NO FUTURE, ENSLAVED, HATED AND KILLED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Even after 97% & 5% principle of Buhari Administration; what is the commissioner saying afterall. It is obvious that presidiot Buhari is a sectional leader of Hausa-Fulani. He is not a national leader.
