Local hunters last Friday killed a hippopotamus that has been terrorizing residents of the
riverine communities of Abaji and Kwali area council.
The animal was gunned down at the River Gurara forest, in Ashara village of Kwali area council. Some residents gathered together and butchered the hippopotamus for meat. More photos after the cut.

Hippopotamuses do kill more people than lions globally,but they are also growing extinct. If ministry of animal sciences were truly functioning, they ought to setup a specialized swift rescue team unit to help rescue these kind of carnivorous extinct species and place them probably in zoos,or parks. All administrations we've had never focus on animal cruelty when this has its pros and cons.if each of these animals kept placed in parks with tourist attractions ,then we begin to grow that sector gradually and not depend on oil occupying over 85% of current GDP.
