Negotiating With Terrorists: Let The Chibok Parents Decide

Another article written by Dr. Peregrino Brimah. Read below and tell us if you agree with him...
We have come to the conclusion that the only legitimate option for the government of Nigeria in the predicament of the abducted 234 Chibok girls is to entrust the decision to negotiate with the terrorists to the parents of the girls.
We advise the Federal government of Nigeria to host a meeting of all affected parents for them to make a decision on what course of action Nigeria should take in handling the release of their wards. This recommendation is in the best interest of the nation and the direct victims of our failure. This decision on the next course of action is made with due consideration of the reality that the government of Nigeria, based on the history of its dealings with Boko Haram, leading up to this notable abduction, has lost the credibility to make this decision on behalf of the victims. The Nigerian civilians are the only entity endowed with the credibility, responsibility and authority to decide in this matter.
In regards to giving money for the release of the girls; if the parents so decide, then so be it. There are mechanisms of controlling the impact of financed terrorists, and it is time these are enacted. Nigeria’s commonwealth goes to terrorists’ hands every day, regardless. Nigeria’s oil goddess still steals $4 million from the poor masses including the Chibok families, every day in the kerosene subsidy scam that the executive and senate leadership yet refuses to debar. If this is not money going to terror, in frank terror to the nation, then what is? Billions of dollars looted from Nigeria’s oil revenue by government officials and their cabal partners is what finances terror. Thus, giving some money to these terrorists today if the parents so decide, will be Nigeria-business as usual. We assure you that the money you give them will not affect or in any way reduce the rate at which we are going to be killing them. Boko Haram are dead. The civilians have dug their graves.

In regards to prisoner swaps. We have earlier advised the Nigerian government to visit Algeria for consultation on how the Algiers government addressed their similar “Boko Haram” crises of the 90’s “Black decade.” Apart from the Algerians officially training and arming civilians to defend their neighborhoods, they decreed a conditional amnesty by which terrorists who had not been directly implicated in death or rape were released. If the Chibok parents so decide, we believe Nigeria can exchange some of those women and youth arrested who have not been directly involved in murder or rape in exchange for the girls. Those convicted of rape and murder should have long been killed.

We also strongly advise you not to listen to advice from any so-called northern leaders. Many of those who shout loudest and come forward to make suggestions to the government today have lost the credibility to do so. Where were they during the four years of Boko Haram free flowing carnage? Where were they when Churches, Mosques and farming villages were destroyed across the north? We do not believe they care about these 234 girls when they hardly cared about the 40-80,000 who have been massacred. Most especially, please do not listen to certain individuals who suddenly became Boko Haram “analysts” as a French media organization referred to them. Their amazing ability to predict Boko Haram’s next moves to the letter have made them greatly suspect. It is strongly advised you steer clear from these persons.

We also caution you against information and advice from foreign “partners” and the nation’s you are visiting in addressing this Nigerian situation. Please realize the hesitance of these nations, despite the Boko Haram holocaust, to declare the group a terror organization. Please notice the UN’s reluctance to do the same and to place sanctions and declare resolutions against Nigerian government officials and partners for their support and sponsorship of Boko Haram terror. Nigerians have only Nigerians to blame and to consult in these matters. We have only ourselves.

Thus, we advise a meeting of the parents during which they are informed of the consequences of all decisions they take and they confer and decide what decision Nigeria should take in this matter. If they decide we use force at the risk of harm, we assure you, the civilian army is on stand-by to accompany the military to search, rescue and exterminate. It is time for the Nigerian people.
By God, no girl can die or be killed by a terrorist unless it is the stipulated time of her death as decreed by God.

It is time to act fast. May the Merciful Almighty have mercy on us all.

To be frank with you this issue of negotiating with terrorists is way too complicated,no need making assertions, that may turnout in,military terms irrational.
The fact that many countries like US and UK have people whose job is to negotiate with hostage takers shows how serious it is.
I heard they are in Nigeria lets leave the experts to decide instead of speaking out of emotions.

"Boko Haram are dead. The civilians have dug their graves."

I like this part.cos truthfully,Nigerians do everything themselves anyway.

We provide our own electricity, jobs, generate our own income, education, transportation etc etc.we even actually already secure ourselves thru all sorts of means from opc to privatized securities to electric fences.
We might as well tell the government at all Levels to piss off.

I'm beginning to suspect this Dr Brimah wt this his last submission. What arrant nonsense, suggesting we pay terrorists and release some of their members to them in exchangeThen his analysis on the petroleum minister....gives him away too. That was very unnecessary wt the issue at hand. Pls he shld better take several seats. Govt can't negotiate wt terrorists simple. Even one of the parents who hv 2 daughters held by the terrorists advised govt on cnn not to negotiate and that he was ready to let his daughters stay there than allow the negotiations. It's just common sense, u cnt negotiate wt terrorists or else u are opening urself up for more danger. The militants situation in the south is in no way the same as the boko haram situation in the north. NO NEGTIATIONS wt any terrorist pls.

I think this man has lost it oh!!!!!!!!!! In wat World wud a parent place a country dey dont trust over their kids lives?! Definitely not a Naija parent! U dont even need to ask d parents to negotiate bcos there answer wud b dat they want their children back!!!!!!!!! The parents are not in right state of mind to handle a negotiation of dat magnitude cos their minds are clouded wit emotions which is a normal thing! Nigeria shud get those gals nd leave negotiation out of this! Nd d Idea of arming citizens especially naija citizens wits arms is d worst idea ever since worst ideas started existing! Arming d citizens of a country wit a very high level of unemployments nd ppl living under a dollar a day is like telling them to go on a thieving/killing spree! Use ur head not ur phallus to think!

This Peregrino guy sounds insane! I don't know who's scarier, him, Boko haram or the Jonathan administration!! How can you suggest arming of the civilian population and emotional, distraught parents deciding how to bring the girls back?! That would result in total chaos! And as precarious as the state of this nation, that's definitely not the way to go! The Jonathan administration is ineffectual and Boko Haram blood-thirsty animals, but we can't all go crazy! Just security operatives carry guns for now and we see how trigger-happy they are and now you want community members to do too! Please, that's not the way to go!

omalichaspeaks.blogspot.com said...

Who is this dude? How insensitive can you be? The Chibok parents should decide? If it were one of your daughters will you be writing this gibberish? So the Nigerian government is too weak to make a concrete decision on BH but the distraught parents of those girls are? What else do you think would be their major concern besides brining their daughters home safely? You think they care how the government goes about it, if you were in their shoes would you care???
This whole thing is just like a really really bad movie.
May God continue to protect those girls wherever they are.

I disagree with this on the basis that the parents now NOTHING about military stratagies nor negotiating. You can't just let anybody walk into a security briefing and say 'everybody listen, this is my daughter so y'all do what I say'. Who ever wrote this article doesn't know what he's talking about.

well @aloy, i suggest that if your child is to be part of this you would consider negotiation appropriate. the point is terrorism as of date has not been eradicated in united state the most powerful nation in the world. what more,i prove that whats that important now is to return those kids for their parents. thanks

At this point there is a need to negotiate. You only don't negotiate with terrorist when they don't have valuable in their custody.
If you look at the US expert entourage that came in to assist us you will find expert negotiator among them which simply tells that it will get to that point.
What the government need to strategize about is how to CRUSH the group as soon as they have Our girls in their custody so as to prevent a repeat of the abduction and also to serve as a deterrent to other groups that might want to spring up.

At this point Negotiation is highly and quickly needed for the sake of Our girls. You only don't negotiate with terrorist if they don't have valuables in their custody. Over 100 young Nigerian girls are too much valuable in the custody of Boko Haram that the Government must negotiate over. I think the US knows this which is the reason why they have an Expert Negotiator in the list of their entourage to Nigeria. What the Government should be concern about is the type of attack they will lunch and how they will lunch the attack the must put Boko Haram to a final rest what I mean is to CRUSH Boko Haram with every resources in the Government's disposal so as to prevent future abduction and also serve as a deterrent for other group that might want to spring up.

I don't think the parents in their present emotional state can make rational decisions. Yes those girls/women are their daughters but they are 1st and foremost nigerians and as such the govt is responsible for the protection of us all even though they have failed so far, they still are in the best position in defending nigerians.

The Bokos kidnapped girls and forced them to change their religion.
Islam says: “Let there be no compulsion in religion...” (Qur’an 2:256)
The Bokos have forcefully married off girls.
Islam says: "Do not inherit women against their will" (Qur’an 4:19)
The Bokos are aggressive towards those who do not follow their beliefs.
Islam says: “IF IT HAD BEEN YOUR LORD’S WILL, all of the people on Earth would have believed [in one religion]…” (Quran 10:99)
The Bokos have murdered thousands of Muslims and Christians alike in cold blood.
Islam says: “…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” (Quran 5:32)
The Bokos use the cover of Islam to commit their mayhem and claim they are doing God’s work.
Islam says: "……………BUT DO NOT TRANSGRESS LIMITS; FOR GOD LOVETH NOT TRANSGRESSORS. (Qur’an 2:190)"
The Bokos believe once you are not with them you are an enemy to them.
Islam says: “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other)…” (Quran 49:13)
The Bokos have unleashed tyranny and indecency in the land.
Islam says: God commands justice and doing good and giving to relatives. And He forbids indecency and doing wrong and tyranny... (Quran 16:90)
Despite all their false claims it is clear, for those who wish to see, that the Bokos do not represent Islam because they are clearly acting against it!

Nonsense.

Dr. Peringo Brimah... Point of correction, you are not the voice of every Nigerian.. I hear the indirect negotiating voice of BOKOHARAM... Are they now scared that Nigeria has foreign aid??? We have been ridiculed already, the aids are already here, let them do their job.. Or are they scared that the truth of the whole matter is about to be unveiled??? If it was money they wanted initially why the killing??? What about the people that have lost their lives and loved ones ?? Most especially christians??? WE know already that this is pure conspiracy... No missing girls !!!... We also know that NIGERIAN ARMY is BOKOHARAM we know... We know that the nothern leaders want to do everything to get the power back with the aid of the likes of Obasanjo, Babangida, Buhari, Nothern Emirs to mention a few.. We KNOW all these !!! After all they have said GEJ is an annormaly is their equation... We know... Therefore DR. Peperingo Bramah.. Pls go back and tell the parents that they should quietly go and pick their daughters as they have handed them over to the bandits... Or else they will regret their actions of conspiracy... And trying to ridicule Nigeria...
