NASS Election Confirmation: Chris Ngige defeats Dora Akunyili in Anambra State

The controversy over the Anambra Central Senatorial District election has been laid to rest. Ex-Governor Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N) was last night declared the winner.

Returning Officer Dr. Alex Anene announced that Ngige polled 68,208 votes to defeat his closest rival, former Minister of Information Prof. Dora Akunyili, who scored 68,164 votes. - The Nation

Everybody to his/her own opinion, to me why not leave this woman alone for crying out loud, if not for anything for her antecedents which I believe we all shouldn't forget in a hurry. I'm from Anambra Central Senatorial District and as far as I'm concerned the election is still on-hold pending the completion of the re-run in three LGAs comprising of seven wards as announced by the substantial Anambra Central Senatorial District Electoral Returning Officer, Prof. Charles Esinone with the knowledge of Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu who is also the REC. Why don't we INEC run its cause. We need peace in our state. Anyway one doesn't throw stone on a fruitless tree though.

Chris Ngige = failure, as far as I'm concerned. Is this not the same man that connived with the Ubas to steal Peter Obi's mandate. To think that before the results were announced, the fool was already frothing at the mouth about how he was going to court b/c his mandate was stolen. He should know all about stolen mandates. After what he did to Peter Obi, he should have been given a life time bar from ever running for political office in Nigera.

I watched her on TV yesterday. She was almost in tears insisting that they would be a re-run. I only pray the best man wins, but you know in Naija election anything can happen

I disagree with you totally on your comment, Firstly, Believe it or leave it, Ngige is and will remain a grassroot man than Akunyili who her brother Peter Obi has been grooming with his influence as Guv'nor of the State to take over from him by 2014 when the election will come up in Anambra State.

Besides, Ngige, like the Messiah that Anambrarians seek, didn't loot Anambra Treasury with the Uba Brothers as you claimed, he rather opened the eyes of Anambrarians about what Chris Uba and his likes were doing Anambra State and left 3 Billion Naira for Peter obi if you will remember, so advise your Akunyili to bring her integrity and christianity claims & policies to bear on this issue to resolve it amicably when the rerun comes.

I'm happy that ACN is making in roads into the East though it has the toga of a South West party. Ngige is by far one of the best Ibo "politricktians" out there now. the Uba episode was a blot and he's cut off from them. He will do well in the Senate.
As for Madam Dora, what next? Serves you right!!!!
