Good thing he didn't kill it. People have been killing snakes anyhow lately. A snake will not harm you just for the sake of it. It is not like most snakes eat human flesh, or get joy out of biting humans. Most times they attack humans based on self defense. Just led them off to their habitat when they wonder into your living environment, and everything will be cool.

See Kayode SA to PMB, thank you, that snake shall die, for good or for bad, let me give u small story, when I was still in school my GF called me one faithful night and told me to hurry up and come 2her house, without any details I just rushed down there, on reaching she handed over the keys to her house and then I asked what's happening she told me there's snake in her room, if you see the way I flinged this key! (I discharge oo) I didn't pick her calls I sent her an sms to come to my house and sleep and so she did, the next day it was this mallams that came to kill it, and I never slept in that room again, so me and snakes lia lia... I love ma life...
