Well done to Nigerians for this...I was there too!

That Pakistani idiot that spoke is NO friend to Nigeria!! Please beware as he has his own agenda. He has been a lifetime supporter of Sharia rollout in Nigeria and very solidly supported extremist muslim clerics in the North. His presence here makes me wonder what him and his Boko Haram group are up to.hmmmm....Please God let them not turn a worthy fight into something that will land us from frying pan to fire.

His father (an international weapons dealer) has even been to jail her in Britain on terrorist charges! When a foreigner starts to "support" us Nigerians in our own fight, it is worth knowing what agenda he brings to the table.

Well done to those who stood up for Nigeria. Really, enough is enough. our ancestors are so great! We are of the highest and yet live in squalor. Because of the ultimate greed of those that are promised death.

Thank God there is a God because as a story begins, it shall also end one day...

i understand they are passionate about this issue, but must they yell? SHEESH. anyway, if its just a one-day thing, then i dont see what could really come out of this protest besides creating awareness.
as i said, when the REAL protest goes on where people are marching to ASO ROCK then i dont see what affect other protests will have. after all, dont expect the US or UK or any of those other western countries to come to aid, after all, they are commending GEJ's administration. SMH.

and i meant the ones yelling into the microphone...

Well done to those Nigerians in London who sacrificed their time and comfort to protest against the removal of the fuel subsidy. However, this fight should not be only about the subsidy but should the removal of incompetent and corrupt "leaders", who have no vision for the country but implement unsuitable policies which put the country into greater underdevelopment. Truly enough is enough and I can only pray that soon, change will come to my country. Let's not give up the fight.

Sorry Alicia but the protests outside the country make a big difference to what happens. It shows solidarity and support. We are willing to do it as long as it takes.

BUT GEF HAS CUT TO SUBSIDY TO STOP 'FEULING' THE SO CALLED 1%. HENCE THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE FROM THE UN. SURELY YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR THAT.EFFORTS SHOULD NOW GO INTO ENSURING THE REVENUE RAISED DOES GO THE PEOPLE.

INSTEAD WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR VIA THESE DEMONSTRATIONS IS FOR HIM TO REINSTATE THE SUBSIDY SO THE FAT CATS CAN GET EVEN RICHER AND MAKE THEM THE 0.5%

I am so Proud of you Diasporant, We are together in the struggle, it is no longer about subsidy alone, it is about the curruption pervading the land. we must press these Rulers to allow good governance for the wearied masses

Most families in uk, us and canada will protest because they too will feel the pinch! if most of them usually send money b4, now it'll be x5 now 'cos of this. Everybody is going to feel the pinch, no escape route except you're among those that don't send money home, then you're lucky, if not, start looking for more hours of work!

Let the strike kick off! but i have my reservative based on the past conduct of NLC, they may likely call off of the strike by 1.00am on monday morning 'cos they have a way of romancing with the government just to fool the populace.

At any other time, I would cringe at the yelling however, this is yelling at the appropriate time, for the appropriate issue. The anger and disgust at what is happening back home - the injustice, is justified and I am so glad that those of us in the diaspora are not just sitting on our hands waiting for someone else to come to our assistance. A revolution must begin somewhere so, to those asking what the point of the London protest is, clearly the point is lost on you. In that case, let me school you. How about showing solidarity with the plight of your fellow Nigerians - we all have relatives there and they are suffering.

We protest to highlight the unfairness of the system, high unemployment, corruption, people who put money ahead of the lives of other people, homelessness, mistreatment by the government, poor infrastructure and health care system and the general economic situation. We all know that the fuel subsidy had to go, but the timing is absolutely wrong, there's nothing in place to cushion the effect of the removal on the gen pop and we all know that the money garnered from it will only further line the pockets of these thieves in suits and agbadas.

So, what do you expect those of us here to do? Just sit back and do nothing?

I bet when the Arab uprising started in Tunisia and Tunisians in the Diaspora began protesting all over the world, you were sitting in your cosy living room, watching TV, sneering at the futility of their protest. Well, hot damn! Protests by Tunisians in the diaspora along with the intensive campaign of civil resistance helped drive the change. Fancy that!! How did that happen?! If they can do it, so can we. We must be the change we want to see.

So I beg of you, stop twiddling your thumbs and maligning those who choose to take a stand and join in.

Failing that, STFU!!

@January 7, 2012 10:20 AM i agree with you i wondered what his business was and as you said these foreigners when they start supporting naija they usally have there own evil agenda round the corner so please do not let people like him comment

I want thank my fellow comrade in the stuggle, freedom never come easily in any good thing in life that is why we must have one voice to wipe this 10% of nigerians that is making nigerians to suffer.

I believe president goodluck was mislead by the northerns to destroys his govt by at the same time i fill is a coward for accepting such foolish decision at this time. by let us not forget we must make all necessary measure to kill some group of people for the country to move forward. example people like dangonte, atiku, babagida, obasanjo, dora, david mark, soludo, and many more with the country will not forge ahead with such people. i can understand why some body like dangote will never allow light to work just because of his business to florish. God help nigeria.

This is too funny..... "the former speaker that ate our money".

Anonymous said...

ask the guys protesting how much they pay for fuel in the UK? the fact is the goverments needs the money to develop our infrastructure. really dont see anything wrong unless a slight reduction to say N100 per ltr.

It's nice to know that we have foreign supporters. But I am a tad bit confused as to what the people in the video were arguing about : against fuel subsidy? or its removal?

Linda I think you need to write a "Fuel Subsidy 101 Basics" because i think a lot of people are confused as to what they are arguing for/against.

@anon 10:20am

Thank you for exposing that idiot of a guy. Instead of Naijas to keep their eyes open that foreigners don't have their interest at heart all the time, they fall for anything, too gullible.

We naijas sabi yell, it's funny. Well done, we shall overcome and the government will have no choice but to get their act together. Yes, we will.

Anonymous said...

I know this is serious but these protesters are cracking me up. It's too funny. chai, naijas like to yell and shout sha with all the face expression, hand gestures, leg movements.

Any illegal person better not be stupid enough to bring his bighead to any of these protests because that will be the fastest way to deport you.

I hope Nigerian leaders are really listening to the masses, it's about time.
