Oprah Winfrey revealed on her show yesterday about finding out this past Thanksgiving that when she was 9 years old her mother had gotten pregnant, hid the pregnancy and secretly put the baby up for adoption...
Oprah's sister discovered Vernita Winfrey was her birth mother in 2007 and began reaching out to her. Vernita rejected Patricia's requests to unite. She still does.
Eventually an email from Patricia made its way past the hundreds of other "I'm your long lost relative letters" Oprah receives each week and after realizing Patricia had known the truth since 2007 and hadn't sold her out to the tabloids, Oprah decided she wanted to meet this woman whether she turned out to be her sister or not.

Oprah's mum is a very wicked woman. She actually ruined Oprah's life. Oprah's cousin raped her when she was 9 years and a male friend "molested" her.
No wonder she does not want to ever have kids. Her mother was never there for her. So sad!
She does not want her kids to be raped yet the show must go on. She would want to protect her kids 24/7 if she them. I really pity her very shocking and hard life.

I read somewhere that about the new religion Oprah invented, making herself a deity. Everything in her past contributes to the way she acts and thinks...it's really so sad. Maybe you should even blog about the new religion thing, Linda.

Outside of the "Oprah & her religion" theory.... Linda this your story(synopsis) is not right o. Yes the lady is 9 years younger than Oprah & was put up for adoption, yes their mother declined reconciliation three times, but eventually they have reconciled to an extent. Also, the e-mail DID NOT get to Oprah, she hooked up with Oprah's niece, and the niece set the pieces rolling.
OPRAH IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW ADVERSITY CAN MAKE YOU SEEK TO DO GREATER THINGS WITH YOUR LIFE..OPRAH SEEMS TO BE INTO THIS NEW AGE STUFF ABOUT REACHING YOUR HIGHER SELF!!! HOWEVER, I BELIEVE SHE IS ALSO A CHRISTIAN, EVEN THOUGH SHE TRIES TO CONCEAL IT TO APPEASE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE....MY ANGST IS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE LOOK UP TO OPRAH, AND THE SOONER SHE COMES OUT RIGHT AND DECLARES HER STANCE AS A XTIAN...THE BETTER IT WILL BE..SHE HAS DONE A LOT OF BENEVOLENT THINGS WITH HER LIFE, DESPITE A VERY TROUBLED CHILDHOOD..AND I GIVE HER A LOT OF KUDOS FOR THAT!!
