'Never judge a domestic Violence Survivors until they explain why It was never that simple to walk away' - Juliet Ibrahim

Actress Juliet Ibrahim said this in a post she shared on her IG page this afternoon. Lending her voice to the campaign on Violence against women, she wrote "Our value as women has been taken for granted due to domestic violence, egoism and male chauvinism. Never joke about domestic violence. Violence is never a choice anyone should make!!
‘Why Didn’t You Just Leave?’ A question we are all quick to ask but we should never be the judge until we hear Domestic violence survivors explain why it’s never that simple.
80% of women experience violence in relationships around the world and its growing rapidly; We need to speak up and lend our voices as much as we can to encourage these Victims to speak up early enough to avoid a nasty fate, keeping quiet and thinking that He/She will change is not the solution! Also; When a gun is present in a domestic violence situation, it increases the risk of homicide for women by 500 percent.#domesticviolence shame unto every so-called celebrity that is actually tweeting and snapping while mocking any thing concerning another woman's well being that is out there in the news... don't forget Karma is a real bitch; be careful what you wish for others.#sayNotodomesticviolence Thank God there are authorities in place nowadays to do the needful and deal with these maniacs! Violence is not an excuse and should never be a choice no matter what!".

Nice read. I hope every woman adheres to the "Speak up early" thing. If he does it once, he can do it again. And again. And again (this time even worse).

I agree with you my sister. It's not usually easy for victims of abuse to leave because of the children, especially women that have no jobs

Never judge anyone until you're able to walk mile in their shoes. VIOLENCE is never an option no matter what.

Every tom, dick & harry don dey claim domestic voilence. but my question is? all the make up and make down u chiqs apply & all the artificials u wear, who r u wearing them for? for ur sef or other women? nah! for men still. Any woman using these things is already seeing her self as inferior. Men dont look for those type of women, they(women) look for men.
so when u get such men & dey buy u G-Class SUV Mercedes-Benz, and sort out all ur needs. Baby, IF u fuck up, such men will treat ur fuck up, wella! For me, i will solve ur fuck up, 1s & 4 all. NO TIME!

Especially (1) when they are depending on the man for their upkeep and that of their kids (2) when they have invested so much with the man for instance in property acquisition, etc (3) when they don't have the right support system
It is usually difficult to walk out in these circumstances.

No matter how difficult, victims should be encouraged to walk away when the violence starts. That's the best way to nip it in the bud.
