Earlier today the first Uber’s started roaming the streets of Abuja. Within minutes, first riders were seen jumping in an Uber! Play lounge owner Charles Okpaleke, the lovely lady behind DZYN Ogwa Igweze, Sal Gbaja who introduced the delicious salamander cafe to Abuja, celebrity photographer George Okoro and the lovely humanitarian, Adama Indimi were out and about with their Ubers! Always the quickest to spot the latest trends, they simply opened their Uber app and pushed the button. 4 minutes later, their Uber’s rolled up and they were on their way. Easy as!
Read all about our glamorous rider zeros on our blog (newsroom.uber.com/nigeria/celebrating-the-city-abuja/) and see the special offers they have for all Uber riders in Abuja! From discounted cocktails to sandwiches to fashion to photography, they have you covered!
What is Uber?
Uber helps people get a ride at the tap of a button – there’s no flagging your hands to stop a taxi or entering an unfamiliar car. It’s the most convenient way to get a safe, reliable and affordable ride – the app detects your location, tells you about your driver in advance, and you can choose to pay with card or cash so it is easy and safer for both riders and drivers.
Can’t wait to try it out?
1.Download the App from the Play store or App store.
2.Register with your personal details.
3.Choose your pick-up location, request a ride and track your car in real-time.
4.Your ride is free all week long!
With Uber, riders can also share the costs of their ride with a tap of a button — which means whether you are heading to the airport, running errands in Wuse 2, planning movie nights at Silverbird cinema or going out for some late night partying at Play, you will get there for less!
Sample trips with Uber:
•Maitama to Asokoro: ₦650
•Wuse 2 to Gwarinpa: ₦800
•Life Camp to Wuse 2: ₦750
•Airport to Maitama: ₦2,350
•Aiport to Wuse 2: ₦2,300
Uber is still in testing mode so there may be limited availability from time to time as they get going in Abuja. Please be patient in the first few weeks as they’ll be getting you connected to as many drivers as fast as possible.
Go for a ride and send your thoughts to support@uber.com or tweet at @ubernigeria.

I like this! Yepeee
Why is naij uber more expensive than regular cab? The essence o uber is that it is way cheaper
@Chyachebe. I'd gladly pay the extra for a vetted driver with drivers licence, road worthy car, security check, driver identification. It reduces risk of "one chance",kidnapping, ritual killers. In Nigeria you have to be careful.
