Air Nigeria Abuja-bound plane refuses to start

According to Daily Times, the engine of an Abuja-bound Air Nigeria plane refused to start at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2) yesterday May 27th. There were passengers aboard the plane and all had been set for the first flight of the day, but several attempts by the pilot to start the engine of the aircraft proved abortive.

The pilot then explained to the passengers that the development was caused by the fact that the ground power could not ignite the engine, but three different ones were brought and the aircraft engine still failed to start.

The passengers panicked, got off the plane and demanded a refund of their fare, which they got back after the management of the airline apologised for the situation.

Typical of nigerian flights. It is either delays today, cancelled flights tomorrow, theft of luggages, or poor airconditionins system. the woes are just too many. - KC

the ground power could not start the engines? huh? #megaconfused someone somewhere got the facts so absurdly wrong or the pilot just successfully washed all of una. Geez! Planes dont require any bloody external source to start them. Try again mof!

This same air nigeria plane left for lagos to abuja on saturday nyt,due to the heavy wind nd rain in abuja,we cudnt land,we ended up spending extra 45 minutes on air, everybody on d flight was scared to death, cos d plane was really shaking,we thankGod sha.

HKE get out of here with your backward mentality. It's no darn sign...it's operational /mechanical fault which is not uncommon unless you are operating a brand new plane. Everything is Gods intervention....stop excusing nonsense. The airline ought to ave a contingency plan for each scheduled flight just in the event that things like this happen. While we r thanking God lets not forget to condemn the stupid airline whse solution to such eventuality is a refund. That's crap and we need to learn to say no to bulkshit service. That happens in the US all the time but guess what? There is a backup plan that ensures passengers are not left stranded cos their schedules will be screwed up....and cn result in a softly lawsuit when people miss business del meetings, job interviews, doctors appt etc

Nigerians!!! Dem say na God no let the engine start!!! hahahahahaha. Isn't the engine supposed to be idling while the passengers board? were they saving fuel? God has absolutely nothing to do with it. Once we get the concept of "Taking responsibility" in Nigeria, we will move ahead. Instead of investigating the cause, they are blaming God.

Linda a beg brush up on your grammar "plane refuses to start" huh? Meaning what? Plane was asked to start but declined? Please remember that your audience includes people outside of Naija. I live in England and have introduced my colleagues (not of Naija origin) at work to your blog. Imagine my embarrassment when asked to explain your chose of word.

You were quick to insult others with your first statement and then ending up saying †Ñ’ξ same thing....being that, î†'s better that †Ñ’ξ plane didn't start cos î† prolly would've had a fault up in †Ñ’ξ air...

U cldnt sounded more intelligent if u hadn't resorted to insult (well, maybe that makes you feel better off than others..

ID said...

**could've sounded**..I meant to say!!

№t blaming God, thanking Him! And u could deride others all you want, fact remains that God can and does use situations like that to stop a worse situation from happening

Anonymous said...

All u guys shouting 'only in Naija', you obviously do №t have much travel experience...only prob is see with †Ñ’ξ situation is †Ñ’ξ airline №t providing another liner to take its paengers

While we are thankful that it wasn't worse, this is EXACTLY how the people responsible for this rubbish want you to react. You'll be so busy thanking God that you'll forget to tell them they shouldn't be using Methuselah's planes to fly *hiss* God is warning us ooo. The next time we may not be so lucky.

This very incident occured when I was flying from Lagos - Ph. There was a commotion in the plane because some Ibo business man claimed he had business class tickets and the captain said he didn't. Captain said he won't fly unless dude goes back to economy. After all the comotion, plane pulled backwards to the run way and just died there. It had to be pulled back to where it docked. All passengers thanked God for the argument with the pilot and Ibo dude. Since then been very very skeptical of Air Nigeria. I recorded the plane # sef.

If you only knew what was going on internally you should be thanking God for his divine intervention and if you're smart let that be a warning to the wise.

Plane don turn to kabu-kabu for Naija!
in my opinion, divine providence was at work to save innocent passengers from the effect of human negligence but why did they not beg the passengers to come down and help them push? *Laughing in efik*

It happened to me with emirates. Going to dubai from ghhhana, after three hours trying to fix the problem,we were lodged into an hotel and the. Next day we left on d same flight.it happens everywhere.let's not be too critical of naija.we need to go to other countries too
