Petroleum industry bill has not been passed, his inclusion in d board is to facilitate d passage by d national house of assembly. PIB is not a ministry, board or parastatal. Its merely a bill not even a law yet.

Even if its not settlement, couldn't he have rejected it for the sake of integrity? I hear more people (all of them from the anti subsidy removal protest) have been drafted in.we dont know what their intentions are but lets say a simple prayer for all concerned.the Lord shall bless the good works of your hands but if your hands are soiled and your deeds are not pure then you shall no nothong but grief.amen

PIB is the petroleum industry bill... This bill is the foundation of what's been missing in the downstream of theol industry, once in place, it would be harder for them to steam money.
Pengassan is under TUC and Esele is an insider to the Oil n Gas Industry. Might be a wise idea to have him on board to ensure the passage of the bill.
That being said, I still think labour sold out and money might have changed hands. Now is the time for this man to write his name in gold. Posterity will judge his generations if he goes there to receive more bribes.

to all haters Mr esele has a robust knowledge of the industry , he is well educated , most definately qualified to be a member of the PIB , we should stop name calling ooh as he is sure to stand and fight for our rights .

This is the first time that everyone from Nigeria to other parts of the world came out to protest so that other parts of the world and govt will know that pple are suffering and put an end to it! but alas! somepple then goes around and stab the masses at their back.We might not have this same moment, this same platform to address our country's issue and this so called NLC & TUC(BISCUIT)SOLD US OUT!SHAME!SHAME ON NLC AND TUC(BISCUIT).

Labour Leaders are complicit in the destruction of Nigeria. I have never trusted labour since the days of Paschal Bafyau. If only and if only Paschal bafyau had called the strike 1993 perhaps Nigeria would be better. We would never never know. We would never know because of labour
It does seem that Nigerians don't read that much after all, how can people not know the relevance of the TUC President (whether it is Esele or sombeody else) to the success of the PIB.
Some people don't even know what the PIB is and what is seeks to do? Jeez..I don't even know what details to provide here but the bottom line is that the TUC is dominated by PENGASSAN, the organization for the senior staff staff employees of the oil industry.
TUC contributions has helped shaped the bill, wherever it is and whatever version is going round.
Please deal with the fuel issue separately, it has nothing to do with TUC taking part in the PIB.

I don't know the specifics but I'm guessing that the appointment was made to include him in the process for the appropriation of funds saved from the subsidy removal. I believe that was part of a last minute deal by the Labour union at the end to at least see something good done with the money when they saw they had failed.

Good morning,i second the blogger emeka.if Esele and others do the work with purity then they shall reap the rewards.if otherwise,their reward will be received immediately.may i start with marilyn ogah who says the protesters made utterances that is known to lead to terrorism;interesting marilyn,the boko haramists were not cordoned off with military personnel but nigerian citizens who came out enmasse to vote for jonathan(he has lost my respect to be called my president) are now been brandished as terrorists.interesting martilyn!secondly Akpabio the governor of akwa ibom says artists could not have performed foc and food was served.let me tell you that i personally bought drinks,water and snacks for all around me everyday for 5days.i know of a lot of people that did same and i am an average citizen asking for jonathan to consider the masses.3rdly bloggers,he brought the military to face us.the LORD shall disgrace you jonathan as the blood of the innocent is in your hands and on your head.Diezani said ina televised senate session yesterday that the reason for the very high increment in subsidy paid last year is as a result of increase in car users and back log of subsidy owed on kerosene.if anyone believes that then we are all fools.we produce kerosene and also barter some.we have absolutely no reason to be importing kerosene and if so in what quantity and at what cost?isnt it the same kerosene that was not available at affordable prices in the filling stations last year.Diezani though an architecct you failed as min of works and you are failing again as min of petroleum.remember,you will not always be sleeping with the powers that be forever and one day the bush meat will catch the hunter.

, Linda got this report messed up and that is why people are abusing Peter Esele for no just cause. There is nothing like PIB Board. It is either Jonathan appointed Esele into the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme Board, which has Dr Christopher Kolade as the chairman or the Oil & Gas Industry Implementation Committee--the committee that drafted & is pushing the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bil b4 the National Assembly.
The former is probable bcos the Board has just been set up.
Head or tail, neither is not an opportunity to share money, rather he is just taking up one of the labour's slot, already provided in whichever committee and this shld be seen as an opportunity for Esele to plough in labour's perspective and protect the interest of Nigerians.
Perhaps, many do not know that Esele still works in the Oil & Gas Industry and was the President of the Petroleum & Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria b4 he became TUC Presido.
Unfortunatly, Nigerians are impossible and it is a shame we are insulting our labour leaders. Perhaps they shld have stuck to their guns and have the strike go on for ever and invite anarchy? Sad.
I'll add the TUC to the NLC heap too. Cynical of them all.

PETER ESELE, AS THE IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT OF PENGASSAN IS EMINENTLY QUALIFIED TO BE IN THE COMMITTEE TO STUDY AND FASTRACK THE PASSAGE OF THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY BILL. PLEASE LET US LEAVE SENTIMENTS OUT OF THIS.
This is amongst other reasons why i was not part of the protest. First i know subsidy removal was the best option, and again i know i am protesting with the wrong people that negotiate only thier belly. Welldone mr peter, u are not the first or only.

Linda, I agree with Obim that you weren't quite up to scratch on this one. I guess you saw this on another website, quickly jumped to conclusions and published without doing a background check or investigating further. A lot of your followers didn't do any checks either and jumped on the bandwagon.....abusing the chap.
Anyway, Peter (as TUC president)was named as a member Of a Special Task Force on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) which has a mandate to work with the Ministry of Petroleum resources to facilitate the quick passage of the Bill. The task force has Senator Udo Udoma as chairman. I suppose people here know what the PIB is supposed to address
On the fuel subsidy protest, which by the way I think was largely successful, a lot of posts have stated that the Labour team sold out becaause they received large sums. I don't hold brief for them but that is not only libelous, it's is uncharitable. None of you were there on the three nights the negotiations took place
Consider that the President, in his speech, didn't say that labout agreed to N97. He didn't thank labour for their maturity in meeting with his govt to arrive at a positive outcome for Nigerians. If anything, Goodluck accused the labour negotiators of being unwilling to move forward. He just let us know that govt was being magnanimous in order to minimise the suffering of the poplulace. So they, government, unilaterally set the price at N97 and damned anyone who wouldnt accept it (by continuing to protest). He simply pulled the rug from under their feet while threatening them with sending soldiers into the streets to maul down any protesters that went out on Monday. As you all probably know, the soldiers were already deployed on Sunday night in Lagos, Ibadan and Kano while negotiations were still going on.
In the end what were the labour team expected to do....send out the sheep to be slaughtered? They reluctantly had to suspend the strike and street protests to prevent further loss of lives which would have been heaped upon their heads. Like I said, I don't hold brief for them because I think they probably missed the opportunity on the first night of negotiations to achieve the N65 status quo, but they fell right into a trap and there was no way out but to call it quits (suspend) for now.
Sometimes you need to see beyond the sentiments. In any case, I think that the nation at large (i.e. the 99%) is wiser for the experience.
I thought he's Judas. I was wrong. He is the devil. He sold his soul and he sold Nigeria. What goes around, comes around. He will reap his reward. GEJ won't be in office forever. A new government will kick him out.
Apart from his new post, GEJ and PDP paid him over $10 million. Scumbag.
