The most creative things I have done with my Nokia phone is to

a. Record gospel songs on them so that I can pray while listening to them anywhere, anytime.

b. Store reminders of appointments on my phone so that I can remembered about the appointments at least fifteen minutes to the time.

c. I also stored the code for accessing my credit balance as a separate number so that instead of typing the full code for accessing my credit balance, I just dial the name of the number that represents the code, and PRONTO, my phone credit balance comes up!

I hope I win IJN!!

One of the most creative thing apart from daily blogging i've done with my Nokia Phone was helping play out some mixed songs at a friends wedding reception after being disappointed by the DJ who was hired. He (The DJ) called about 25mins to the commencement of the Wedding reception to say that his truck had a flat tire somewhere. My Phone was connected to a mixer which was played out via a mini combo and it did saved the day. People were dancing and jumping to the music without knowing what was playing it (Thanks to Nokia) - The end part was, i didnt charge the batt for about 3days before then and about 6mins to the end of the reception, we all heard tee tee (low battery) But sincerely, it did a great Job.

100,000 naira? Jesus, that’s £400 in my money. I just checked online and it’s nothing less than £450 off net! However, with a contract/post pay, it’s free. I didn’t even get the I-pad 2 for that price. Okay, my excuse now is that i’m in the “Diaspora” so i cannot apply. LOL! I’ll need to ask them at work to see if i can test it and navigate around the functionalities. The phone looks “major!!”

the most exciting i have done with ,my nokia phone is to exactly co-ordinate my life and its affairs and this include checking my mails; which are so pertinent to my daily life, listen to my favorite tracks even without an ear piece; cos the volume is really loud and good to be heard from quite a distance, then get to steal pictures displayed on my favourite blogs which is the linda ikeji blog and then do my facebook, twitter and whatsapp, nimbuzz etc also take pictures with my friends and loved ones and listen to my favorite radio programmes...in essence my nokia is so multi-purpose for me... The most amazing feature of my Nokia 6760-s is the quick office. As a Nigerian international student in a university where almost everything is online, i have all my lecture materials, presentations, study questions etc on my phone. With the "find" button i can search for specific information in any document fast & easily. During the dreadful "seminars" (compulsory orals with d teacher) i can peep 4 clues without my teacher finding out.
Secondly, the inbuilt dictionary with the ability to download languages is a big help. when i go to the market & i cant communicate with the Ukrainian locals, all i have to do is search 4 words & try to make them understand what i want.
I saw the e7 in a Nokia shop here in Ukraine, It's a real beauty. I would love to have one, if only i can afford it.

The most creative thing I've done with my nokia phone....
it was with my nokia E63, whilst i was still in the university, I had an assignment due the next day that I hadn't done... and as always, power supply had gone kaput... My laptop battery was flat, all the cyber cafes in school had shut down....I was stranded.
So,I picked up my phone opened my web browser (bolt), begun research on the topic of the assignment via google... copied relevant portions and then opened the word processor on my phone (quick office) and started editing... after a few hours of going back and forth from web to document (thanks to the wonderful advent of multitasking) I had something to tender as an assignment.
All that was left was to wait for power to be restored, hook up my phone to a PC, edit the assignment properly on MS word and to the printers I went.....
Fun & creative huh? i hope i win!

Cedric JlS Obasuyi said...

You know miss Linda, this is realy a hard one. Nokia phones are designed to be used creatively, making you feel as if thats what a normal phone would/should do. Is it when i need to record calls? watch some DSTV when im bore in class? easilly download files of 400MB in 30 minutes? or stream from youtube? Wow my friends with high quality pictures and edit them 'creatively'? etc. The list goes on,thats a nokia phone for you (at least the ones produced within the last 5 years lol).
But i gotta say, the most creative ive been with my phone is when i see a random design of a dress on TV, that i need to sew. ** you see i totally suck at drawing, and at describing stuff, so i just ***SNAP*SNAP*** it right there on the TV screen, and voila no more explanation needed to my tailor :) . This is extremely useful as i live in a very small local town where there are only petty tailors (bless them) and little r no fashion oriented stores. But i still gotta look trendy, cos it makes me feel gooood haha ...*phew

I'm an IT technician. One of the most creative things I did with my Nokia N97 mini was when I downloaded an antivirus update from avast! and transferred the file through b/tooth to an infected system at one of my client's offices at Ago-Iwoye in Ogun state.

After cleaning the system of all viruses, I used my N97's 8gb internal memory as a removable drive and did a back-up of my client's computer.

My Nokia N97 mini made my day and saved my client's valuable data! And this is apart from Ovi maps saving me from getting lost on more than one occassion in remote places in Lagos!

@ akunyiba: just one question, if you have the nokia n8, what do you wanna do with the n7 phone.

ibukun olaoya (eyebeekay) said...

Most of the useful (creative?) things I have done (still do) with my Nokia5800 have been software based. A few of them are hardware based.
1). I have a software installed on my phone called “EXPRESS ALARM”. The software monitors the noise (decibel level) and emits a rancorous alarm when the noise level exceeds what you set-up inthe application. It can also dial another number once the the noise level exceeds your threshold.
I use this application as a ‘poor-man’s burglar alarm system. I put it in my car at night. If someone attempts to break into the car, my ‘alarm system’ sets up strident noise and dials my other phone close to my pillow.
I also used this application when wife newly put to bed. I put the phone with this software close to the baby’s crib at night. When the baby cries at night, the phone by the baby’s side dials the mother’s (not mine!) phone. The mum can then wake up to attendto the babe. I can continue snoring!
2) My nokia5800 has Tv-Out functionality. With this phone, I no longer need a dvd-player. I do not need to carry CDs about. I have lots of memory on themicroSD card.I convert the video CDs into MP4 format and the audio CDs into MP3.In this format, they are portable and last forever.
I then hook up the phone to my 32″ LCD Tv. The Tv is in turn connected to an amplifier system. Of course,to listen to FM radio, I also hook up my phone as earlier described. The difference in this instance is there is no video, but the surround-sound is just mellifluous!
3) I use my Nokia as my bedside clock. Using JBak Taskman, a digital, luminous clock is displayed on the screen. It is legible from 5 meters, in daytime. You can imagine the legibility at night!
4) I have a piano application on my phone (Pocket Piano). By connecting my phone to the Tv – again – You will imagine we have a full-sized piano performingwhen I start playing.
5) My phone is important tome. I have a software that guards the phone perpetually. The software uses the light / proximity sensor to do the magic. If I put the phone in my pocket, if anyone brings it out surreptitiously, he will ge a shocker as the powerful Nokia5800 speakers are deployed to emit a nerve-shattering, high-piched noise. Pickpocket caught! Put the phone in your purse, briefcase – anywhere where the sensor is covered. A sudden sustained (for some seconds) uncovering will deploy that loud noise.
6) Most homes have albums– with their wedding and other memory pictures. Problem is, the pictures deteriorate over time. Enter the Nok5800! I scan all my photos into digital format, place them on my memory card. Like the caseof the Cds, they last foreverin this form. I then use Resco PhotoViever to flip through my album. Connected to that big Tv, visitors can flip through photos. I am also able to dosome level of photo editingto enhance the quality of the ones that are not up to par.
7) Power being a major problem in Nigeria, we often need a torch. I have “Phone Torch” application which turns my Phone into a Torch. I also sometimes use this phone as a ‘hazard light’ as it can intermittently turn on/off the flash on the phone. The intrinsic ‘torch’ function – while present on may phones – is absent on the Nokia 5800
8) I often need to scribble things down. My phone makes it unnecessry for meto carry about a pen(cil) and paper. I use an application called ‘Stick Notes’ that allows me use the phone as a ‘Post-It’ yellow note
8) Being able to enjoy the services of my phone needsthat I use the battery parsimoniously. I have a my JBak Taskman that allows me attach a ‘display-liminousity-level’ to every application I have on the phone, I can also attach thisto any profile. In association with a programlike “Handy Profile”, you can instruct the phone to turn down the brightness automatically depending on prevailing conditions (such as current battery-level, whether it is day or night, e.t.c)
Kindly refer to a related article http://www.artwales.biz/?p=1043 for some other (creative?) uses to which my Nokia-5800 is deployed.

I have always been a fan of Nokia and its a rugged phone as well.cant remember how many times it has fallen.
1) It has helped me in organising my daily schedule with the to-do list and calender.
I can also quickly scribble informations into the notes instead of looking aroung for a pen and paper.

2)The delivery reports for messages helps me in catching those that are lying they never got my messages.

3)It is also my alarm clock and i used the camera to take passport photograph which saved me money from going down to the photo shop.

As a creative writer, you'll agree with me that it is impossible to remember everything i see, hear people do. What i do with my phone is to either record with the voice recorder menu or save as a draft message "ideas" that i pick up from what i see or hear people say that may be of help when i am writing. Over the years, this creative use of my phone has helped me in unimaginable ways plus it saves me the stress of always carrying around a spiral bound notebook...

The most creative thing i have ever done with my Nokia 5800 is moving money from one of my accounts (which does not have an ATM card) to the one that has. This was when i needed cash urgently to buy some drugs at the hospital. I quickly did the transfer and walked down to a nearby ATM and withdrew the money.
