Justice for Aluu 4

Cousins, IIyod aka Big L and Ugonna
I am sure by now some of you have watched the video of the brutal beating death of the four University of Port Harcourt students - Ugonna, Ilyod, Tekana and Chidiaka, by the indigenes of Aluu community in Port Harcourt. If you haven't watched the video, please don't bother. It's the most gruesome and the most unbelievable thing I have ever seen. It will break your heart.

Now I'm convinced that we have lost our souls as humans. The youths of this nation did this. People's children. Beaten till they were unconscious, then set on fire. They said they were robbers...were they really? Even if they were, is this how to treat another human being? Are we this barbaric in this country?

Two of them were even cousins. Ugonna and IIyod. Both of them were upcoming rappers. Big L was the winner of a popular Rap Contest show on SilverbirdTV PH called 'Turb Show'. I have listened to some of his songs...I'm devastated.

We the youths of this country demand that the River State Government look into this matter and arrest everyone in that video. Except the government want to tell us that they have given the youths of Aluu power to arrest and kill indiscriminately. The Rivers government MUST make a scapegoat of the people who did this so it doesn't repeat itself. Next time, it could be my brother or your brother. My child or your child! We can't let this happen again.

So let's start a campaign #justiceforaluu4 until the Rivers States government does something about this!

Meanwhile, if you write any shitty comment supporting this act, your comment will be blocked. So don't even bother!

This should be the last of such brutality and inhumanity so dat d next time anyone tinks of taking justice into their hands, they will at least tink of the repercussions. Some pple be justifying d killings,GPY!. Who are u to judge and cast a stone. That community is sick starting wit its head. It saddens me cos dis mite just be one of those cases swept away. Ya Allah, let justice be served!

This shows you how babaric this people are, worse than Bokoharam, real useless animals. How can they all stand and be watching fellow human get killed without alerting the police. They are really wicked. Its a common thing in the south to kill and burn a common thief with tyres. They had enough time to call the police. May God punish the perpetuators and also those supporting what they did.

Shut your mouth.... What makes u think they are robbers.... If you don't know there's more to this story than what we are reading... These boys are not armed robbers

I'm a bit confused now. When I saw the pixs, I hastily concluded that they deserved what they got cos I've been a victim of robbers attack twice. However, after some soul searching, I do not think they deserved to die that way, no matter their offense. The main problem is the government, they do not care about the citizens, there r no jobs and people r restive. May justice take its course and may God give the families fortitude to bear this loss. God save Nigeria cos we r headed for... God knows what!

As strong as I use to think I am emotionally, I just saw the video of this dastardly act and I wept! what if it was a wrong judgement and the mob was not willing to hear them out? even if they stole phones, do they deserve this? if we dont condemn this now it might be one of us or a relative or even our own kids that might fall into this kind of predicament one day and nobody to save us!

this is terrible...jut watched the video, and I still don't understand why people would take justice into their own hands.I believe there is no justification for this barbaric act, and any one is innocent until proven guilty by the court of Law. No one or community has the right to take a life; if this was not the case, there would be no law enforcement agency. The People of the ALUU community have given Nigerians a very bad name, and although this type of crime happens a lot in many communities and goes unreported, the age of social media and hand held electronic devices have brought it all to light.
I pray the countries judiciary and law enforcement agencies, in the name of public interest, prosecute both perpetrators of the and on-lookers who just simply stood-by and filmed this crime for the purpose of their personal perverted, immoral justification.
Finally, this questions goes out to the ALUU Community:
1. Are you sure these boys were armed robbers, or simply innocent people wrongly accussed.

2. WHO GAVE THE ALUU COMMUNITY THE RIGHT TO TAKE LAWS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS.

3. IF THE ALUU COMMUNITY BELIEVES THEY WERE JUSTIFIED IN MURDERING THESE PEOPLE, THEN WHY HAVE THEY NOT YET SUBMITTED THEMSELVES TO THE POLICE.

I pray these people receive justice partly because of their family, but also for the unaccounted number of young people murdered daily in our country. We must recognise and obey the law of the land, no matter how unpleasant it might feel. This is what differentiates us from animals. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

i can't shout. we seem to live in a country of lawlessness where everyone seems to do whatever they feel like...for example, i was just watching the Ondo deputy gov debate. Common keep quite, turn your cell phone off, don't laugh, mumor, or hail the candidates the audience couldn't adhere to. I can't even count how many times the moderator had to caution the audience...why are we so stubborn??? i just don't know what it is...is it lack of EDUCATION???
what took the police so long to show up? Iunderstand that there is no 911# to dial, but u mean everyone watching the brutal beating couldn't even run to call the police??? because that's what I would have done. just so SADDDDDDD. Feeling helpless in your own country...what happened to the Abia state rape case??? smh

This is the real story: Ugonna has been complaining to his father that his house in school was being invaded all the time by robbers so he doesn’t sleep there. He had a friend in the community that he spends the night with. Himself and his roommate were coming back from where they went to spend the night when they met their other friends Chiadika and Lloyd so they decided to go together. On their way, Lloyd said that he needed to collect his money from someone who was owing him. In the cause of collecting his money, the whole situation went bizzare and turned into a fight. The guy who was owing them started screaming and the vigilante group was alerted and they thought they were the criminals disturbing the community since they were more in number than the guy they went to collect their money from. that’s the real story, no laptops or phone or cultism involved. Those guys were homely and they were all christains. Also their parents are very comfortable and provides them with everything they needed. Lord have mercy on us

I'm confused abt the whole thing. I guess I was quick to judge. I actually said they deserved what they got but after some soul searching, I don't think anybody deserves to die that way. May God grant their families fortitude to bear the loss. God save this country!

Dear Linda,I am very happy you took the initiative of doing something like this. The truth of the matter is that there is no Law in this country and so people take it upon themselves to deliver to whomever the please. This sort of rubbish must stop!!!,we keep complaining about Boko Haram but after watching the video I don't think we need to look any further to see that there is terrorism in the heart of an average Nigerian. They lynched all four and not one person amongst the crowd protested. They were all for it and this shows you how callous we are..NOT JUST ALUU VILLAGERS!!This act of Jungle Justice has been with us in a while and we need to do something about it..OUR GOVT HAS FAILED US..LET US NOT FAIL OURSELVES..NIGERIANS LEARN TO BE YOUR BROTHERS KEEPERS!!!

Am sorry Linda

The community was wrong

The boys were wrong too to terrorise a community. Imagine people walk into your home your home rape you steal from you beat you I hope you never imagine it .

It's a simple saying two wrongs don't make a right

Nigeria needs a lot of growing up but I hope it's not late before God tells his Arch-angel to blow the trumpet

The Nigerian leaders need to have a serious discussion

May God have mercy on us all

It is enough offense that the students allegedly committed a crime against the laws of the land but it is an even heinous crime that without the benefit of a proper investigation by the law enforcement agents and possible trial in a court of competent jurisdiction, certain Nigerians usurped the place of the law by assuming the role of jury, judge and executioner.

Where is our CONSCIENCE? Is torture followed by gruesome death in the hands of a few mob now the punishment for sundry crimes or even grievous ones? The same politicians that rape us blindly by cornering our commonwealth for themselves, cronies, allies and generations unborn still roam our streets free, receive national awards, get bestowed with chieftaincy titles, awarded honorary degrees and still flaunt their ill-gotten wealth in our face, what have we done with them? Have we ever raised our fingers against them? We hail them when they drive by, carry placards in their support when they are ever presented for trial in the courts and even fight off security agents who attempt to arrest them for what? A few crumbs of bread and wine that will not make our lives any better?

Why must dog eat dog in our case? Why should even more guilty people who enjoy the temporary privilege of not yet been found out be the first to cast the stone in matters of this nature? This MADNESS of taking laws into our hands at the slightest opportunity must stop! We’re not animals and neither do we live in the stone age of barbarism and savageness.

Welcome to the First Manchester United Blog in Nigeria!!!

i couldn't watch the video but i am in support of the movement that someone must pay. Wo does this? These boys were young boys and even if they actually stole phones and laptops, why weren't they handed over to the police? They could have beaten these boys and let them go, I'm sure the embarrasment would have taught them a bitter lesson. I couldn't sleep since Friday when I read this story. Have we lost our minds? Has blood become common that we spill t like it holds no significance. Justice must catch up with the guys who killed these boys. They have even created a bigger crime; Murder! Even the students in PH who were around this incident are irresponsible. how dare you watch your fellow students killed in such gruesome manner? You will all pay for this all be hunted, all thiose that either instigated this or didn't have an ounce of self pity while this happened. I remember people who used to steal our phones and clothes in school, did we kill them no, this is so unbelievable, wish words could just change the situation. This is sad

If we do not use our freedom to defend our freedom, we will lose our freedom. People go about condemning the Boko Haram, these devils are even worse. May that which was meted out to those boys be made manifest in their lives a thousand fold. May the God of justice make you weep all the days of your lives. MAY YOU NEVER KNOW PEACE AND MAY THEIR BLOOD BE UPON YOUR HEADS FOREVER.

We're quick to shout he's a thief he's this he's that, yet i know we are all imperfect. You may not be a thief and be much worse than that, who knows. Cynthia Okogwu was killed, her murderer's are still alive. These boys are alleged to have stolen laptops and phones? I read some comment where a girl says they are well known and have been terrorizing for ages, if that were true, how come nobody led the police to their lair? Or as well knkwn as they were did they operate with masks and if so how then did y'all know it was this four??? I cant kill a dog like that much less a human being, our hearts are BLACK! Heck some dont even have hearts or souls. No1 deserves to die like this, no1. A lot of those in that video would have dusted themselves off and went to church/mosque like they didnt just kill humans for fun a few hours before. Sick sick to my stomach! May God grant their souls and the souls of the 33 students killed in Mubi Poly eternal rest, AMEN.

I couldnt stand that video....i regret ever watching it...its the most horrific stuff i have ever seen......those guys on stripped top should face the wrath of d law!!!!#justiceforAluu4!!!!!!!!!!!

I could not bring myself to even watch the video, looking at the pictures caused me enough trauma. I have never seen so much wickedness displayed. Even animals don't deserve to die in this manner, Osama was alleged to have been behind the attack on WTC, yet even him did not die this way. Some of them involved would still go to church on Sunday and ask God for breakthrough. Now i understand when it was said that he will visit the sins of the fathers on the sons to the third generation.
Enough of my ranting...Linda we fully support this campaign.

Linda thank you very much for this post. As a female Uniport Alumni, am happy that this barbaric act is in the open and I honestly pray we will stop it. We need to let everyone that has ears to hear and pray something good comes out of it. Ugonna, Llyod, Chilaka and Tekena cannot die in vain. We must put a stop to the evil Aluu people have been committing in the past. #I support Justice for Aluu 4#

Let us not wait for police and the incompetent court to do everything for us, we as a people can make this nation great, the change should start from us.For example, the people standing there watching should have called people and nearby neighbours to intervene and moreover fellow students should have stopped this. Now no one knows actually what happened except the deceased, the headline was that they stole laptops, now we are hearing they were cult members.Where is the evidence of what they stole?Where was their weapons?Jungle justice MUST stop.Don't be a witness, save the victims. How will you allow that to your fellow human being?? #justiceforaluu4

I ask my self where was the Police when this happened?, It must have take close to 1hr before they started murdering them. The Community and inhabitants will never see a graduate rise from its Place, Its the most horrific of event one will ever see. Where is the Laptop they accuse them of stealing? wheres are the Phones? Everybody on that place must be arrested and made to pay the wrath of the Law. Are they telling me if they were from the same Community they will do the same to them?

My only prayer for the people who killed these boys and those who supported the killing is that "they will be dealt the same blow. What they did to these boys will happen back to them, they will cry like these boys did, they will struggle for their lives like these boys did, they will feel pains like these boys did, they will be stripped naked like they did these boys, they will be set on fire like they did these boys, they will look on in helpless surrender as their lives are being taken from them exactly the way these boys did" AMEN!!!

NYC-1 says: If gruesome things like this could happen to citizens and Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has not responded or hold the State Government accountable, then you can as well forget that there is any functional government in Nigeria. Just to underscore what one of our fellow LIBer said: What is the Nigeria Police paid for? They are always waiting to be briefed b4 they act to stop anything evil; who are they waiting for to brief them? Stupid elements. Sometimes I wonder if Nigeria would not have been better off without the Police Force?

It hurts me so deeply to learn of any human brutality to fellow human. Animals are not even that brutal; animals kill for food - which is their survival instincts. Humans are motivated sometimes by envy, revenge, greed, ego and so on. Thank you Linda for this campaign; all that is necessary for evil to conquer the world is for good people to do nothing. Please bring these barbarians to justice so as to send a strong message that we live in a lawful society, else, we shall continue to see you politicians as Oil Merchants and not Leaders.

No manner of suffering should make people take justice into their own hands. I don't care who was raped, murdered, stolen from, beaten, taken advantaged of, abused, stepped on, beat down, maltreated, shut down, shut up, banged up or treated like an animal. For crying out loud, we're living in the 21st century and we have laws and the Police to keep order. If anybody steals and is caught, they should be HANDED over to the appropriate authorities and not dealt with in a barbaric manner that's devoid of civility and human appreciation for life and order. Not one of those people who killed these innocent people (until proven guilty in a court of law) can make one hair on their heads so I don't see why they should go on and take a life(s) they didn't help God create. Its a shame that they could even dare go this far! How dare they?! This video has gone viral on youtube, tubidy and other internet sites. Can you imagine what the international community would deem us as after viewing this? Let no body point fingers at the Police at all. For crying out loud, we are supposed to be helping them despite their short comings and inconsistencies. If that was one of your family members being clubbed and burnt, would any of you people in the Aluu community like that? Would you even stay and watch the horror of his final moments as life is being extracted from him in the most annoying, petrifying way ever imaginable? Please spare me your details. This is a gross misconduct of human will, freedom, civility and the consistent dominance of one man over another. Its a shame that people even have the impetus to stand and watch the gruesome acts being meted out on these people. They should be ashamed of themselves. We should all be ashamed of our selves, as a people and as a society and nation. That we can stand and condone this from people who probably don't deserve any better than they have given or even less. As I cry and bleed on the inside and watch one of the many injustices meted out by man unto another man in 2012, I pray that God's Judgement and mercies visit all those who participated in this, in all of this. May the souls of those who died rest in peace.

This unfortunate event calls for sober reflection by all and sundry. We need to face the truth and ask some valid questions like: What kind of friends do our wards and loved ones keep? Where do they hang out? Can they reasonably afford the items we find in their possession from pocket money? Are their live styles indicative of of the ungodly? I do not condone or support extra judicial killings..but that seemingly kind, gentle & handsome son or boyfriend of yours may well be a frat-boy or robber. i just watched the video and it made me feel sick but then my question 2u linda & all ur suporters is this: what justice can u give 2 a cultist? were u ever raped by cultists in school? where u robbed by them? did they shoot ur friend or brother? did u ever have any encounter with them? i did my dear. and coincidentally i graduated from same uniport in 2005. cultists are heartless and deserve no mercy. but i dont support the way they were killed becos its possible they could have been innocent, but posts on this thread indicate that they were cultists!. but then again if they were arrested and taken to court, what would have been the result? my company was duped of almost N8m over 3 years ago, the coy that duped us took us to court cos they didnt want us to sell the property they used as collateral and guess what? the case is still dragging in court. so whats the way out? i believe if we have love for one another in this country, it will be a safer place to live. my condolence to the bereaved families it is well.

This innocent boys don't deserve to die. Even if they stole millions. The real thieves are those in the house of reps and senate, governors and other public's holders that are stealing money and cannot put a good security system in place for its citizens. Those idiots steal money every blessed day and nobody talks beats them to death.I schooled in Uniport, the ALUU Community are violent people, they have taking the laws into their hands and pushed it so far, they deserve to be punished by the law. I have seen similar sights in Aluu where thieves were almost set on fire after beating them and dragging them in the mud. At the end of the day these events boils down to corruption, illiteracy and poverty this are the root causes to tackle as a nation.

I've not cried for more than 2 decades, but the contents of this video floored me. What has gone wrong with our moral values? I'm pretty sure the Boko Haram bombers cannot have the stomach to Stand and watch the agony of their dying victims. Even more disturbing is the fact that some people are justifying this grusome act

HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN SHOUlD CAST THE FIRST STONE. Those who deserve dis jungle justice are the ones we respect the most in the society. Linda am with you am ready to put my body on the line to make sure dis people are arrrested and persecuted.

Aluu community- cursed for life! Ikwerre community, people are known for being mean, wicked, and revengeful.

RIP.

I pray this bring a change in our systems.

Blood in the land of Aluu. When things begin to happen, generations will wonder why? Blood.

Omg.... this guyz look very good and innocent and they shouldnt be treated like dis till death, If i may ask Is there no police station or police around to come for these innocent youths before they were killed. The country is bad and getting worth.

RICK ROSS came to expose the suffering and hardship a little bit and they were complaind while suffering and dying in vein,I PRAY THAT I MAKE MY WAY OUT OF THIS COUNTRY I AM SERIOUS ABOUT AND I PROMISE TO CLAIM A NEIGBOURING COUNTRY IN AFRICA as my murder land...accept my coment

I wish I'm the governor of that state, I swear in the name of my creator, the said Aluu village would not recover in 5 years from the kind of unrest I'll give them. From the infants to the elders, the story of this evil act would never leave their lips in horror. The elders were watching and they allowed this to happen. I heard the villagers are wicked, but I'll show them wickedness got class. The retarded bastards who carried out the killing are extremely dangerous to the society itself. Its not their first time of committing murder, cuz they did it without remorse. No matter what they could have done, no human being deserves to die this way. Who among the retarded killers is a saint and who among the fools here who commented in support of the killers cuz they are thieves is a saint. If you are in support of this brutality, then may you die the way these guys have died for whatever thing you've taken that does not belong to you. Can't believe some fools would open their mouth and say if truly they are thieves, they deserve to die this way. I'll never watch the video cuz the pictures enough had ruined my weekend since friday evening. They could have been anybody's brother, they deserve some hearing too. They were not animals, they were humans with souls. #JusticeAluu4

I watched this video as I prepared to nap. Sleep has left me. I wish I didn't watch it. My friend forwarded it to my bb and if I knew d content I wouldn't hv watched it. Am so disturbed that this act happened in Nigeria. Am sure I will have nightmares tonight. There is no excuse for this. GOD please we need your mercy in this nation. Why is Nigeria so cursed. Father lord hear our cry. Deliver us!

Anonymous said...

Thank you Linda for this campaign! I was thinking of sending you an email to know what we can all do about this to bring it to spotlight but you read my mind and went ahead and started a campaign. If there is anything we can do please do not hesitate to let us know. I may not live in Nigeria but I am ready to do anything I can do to make sure the animals that killed these young men are brought to justice.
Are our celebrities speaking up against jungle justice? They need to start speaking up against evil acts!
What if the River State Government decides not to do something? We should have a second plan!

NYC-1 says: Linda, you do not have to post this if you don't want to, its just an advice: I know that you're deeply engulfed in emotions on this matter, and you are truly hurt, and want to make sure that incidents like this do not happen again; however, you don't do the right thing, the wrong way. You must balance your emotions with common sense. You are inadvertently undermining your Blog and playing into the hands of those that don't like you, because your Blog exposes the truth about them. By saying that you will not publish the comment of those with contrary opinion to your campaign, you are saying indirectly that those who comment on your Blog are only posting things they feel you want to hear. This will discredit your Blog in a monumental way and your enemies will use that against you. True, you have to sensor comments, but do it in such a way that no one will feel maginalized because they don't think the way you think, else, you will end up like our rulers who have lost all credibility in the world. Take it or leave it, your Blog has gone beyond national level - we know this.

This is really sad. I read the story and watched the video with disgust. Na wa o...I hope these youths can do same to those politicians that steal billions of naira from them

Yes justice should be done but after justice is done what happens next? The same crime shall repeat itself. Many years back I remember channels television showed news about a 10 years old boy called samuel (bless his soul), was brutally beaten and finally burnt because he stole something (I can't remember what). But the point is he was a 10 years old boy. Who took the pictures? Who videoed it? *SMH* the world is full of evil people. So many people claim they know jesus but they lie, those folks are christians am sure and they go to church even today being sunday. Justice can not help this nation, they fail to love each other and yet they seek for peace. They are millions of evil things going on in this world, the little we are able to see breaks heart and make people weep, what about the ones we don't no about? We need GOD, we need to pray so such evil should not befall our family or loved ones.

I haven't slept a wink since I saw that video. I'm in tears. I watched about 10seconds of it and dropped my phone in shock. No one deserves to die like that for any reason whatsoever. This is cruel and evil to say the least. Some of these people will be in church today and still open their mouth to pray. Nigeria needs cleansing with prayers not hypocrisy, the people need reorientation. Animosity between people of different ethnic groups runs deep. University host communities in Nigeria are always so cruel to students and I wonder why. God bless Nigeria and it shall be well with us all. If this was Boko Haram this will make newspaper headlines, but this has been restricted to blogs. Let's come out and fight for justice. This is not good. These boys felt pain, their respective families are in pain. Justice must prevail for the Aluu 4. There are faces in the video and they should all be apprehended and tried for murder. I can't even make sense of what I'm typing anymore... I can't stop crying. I have brothers and could never imagine any of them going through this for any reason whatsoever. Let's fight for justice for these boys. Our rants shout not die on the internet. We must get up and act.

I will keep saying it that I am so ashamed to be Nigerian and thank God that will soon change and I will never have to identify myself with that Country. I feel for all the good people who live there and have to put up with this BULLSHIT! 4 precious lives that can never be replaced. And you can be sure a lot of those people will go to church or mosques regularly and scream the loudest. Fuck that place!!!!!

Anonymous said...

This is cruel but u don't need to talk in that manner, people should be able to post how they feel about the whole thing. That's jungle justice on your path too Linda!

How van people that did this live with themselves?

Now anybody who'll support such an act's not only a barbarian but also a cannibal that's capable of roasting another human like a goat. It's so sad that people can consider this as a way to tackle crime when it is infact the biggest crime of all.Is it justified to walk into a bank and demand your money with a gun just because your a customer in that bank? There's a process for everything. Why is there a law and a body of rules set aside to guide us as humans? Why do we have the police force, fully trained lawyers, courts and Judges to sit in them and hear cases if we were in the ist place made to declare judgement without due process, who gave that man the right to stand over those boys and so brutally execute them??He's obviously a greater criminal than they could be.How are we sure those guys committed the so called crime?Jungle Justice's so wrong that innocent people can be killed because rapist, robbers, cultists n the likes can also join a mob and shout down whoever they want to get at..A girl was in the same way stripped, beaten and almost killed because she allegedly stole a phone. In all that time, all she cared about was covering up her parts and preventing people from sticking objects into her, does that look like a person who should be publicly disgraced??And to think women also heard n saw this happen and applauded the mob's just so pathetic.May the souls of these boys rest in peace and may God help to expose all those responsible for their execution! We cannot move forward as a nation if we condone such actions..
