"Nigeria should be divided into two nations" Gaddafi

"Nigeria should be divided into two nations to avoid further bloodshed between Muslims and Christians," Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has said. In a speech to students, he praised the example of India and Pakistan, where he said partition saved many lives. Splitting Nigeria "would stop the bloodshed and burning of places of worship," state news agency Jana quoted him as saying.

He has a country to run...I think he should concentrate on that. What do you guys think of his statement?

i think he is right. ojukwu once said this and i believe if biafra had happened we won't have any problems. nigeria needs to be divided into two, at least, if not three. these northerners are making life hell. it's not as if jos is a muslim state oh. why shud they kill? i even heard they are targeting lagos. some of them are planning to poison the tomatoes and foodstuff. it's not good. it's not like there is anything going on in the north sef. i agree with this man about the division. so the north can stay on their own. what is it with muslims sef around the world. they are the only group of ppl causing havoc in every part of the world. i don't know if it's their religion that tells them to behave like that. nawa oh.

See who is talking. Did we ask for his advice. Who told him that splitting Nigeria will solve the problem. Abeg, shut your mouth up and face your country.

He has a country 2 run but it doesn't stop him from having an opinion.

I don't think Nigeria should be divided but then again I can't say i blame those who feel that way.

*sigh*

I think Gaddafi is so right this time around. This One Nigeria fable is what is causing problems for us because there is NO ONE NIGERIA. The Moslems are so funny that they are even killing their fellow NON-HAUSA moslems.

We have nothing in common if you ask me. The Muslims can take the north and go away with their mineral resources. We will keep our Oil and perhaps, the resources will be enough to develop the Niger Delta area which has been ignored for so long....

Even though, Gaddafi made a fool of himself last time he was in the States, he's kinda right this time around. It's about time Hausas/fulanis go their separate way, they've had their way for too long. They trying to turn Nigeria, to Republic of hausa or something.

Division is one of Africa's biggest problem, because it has caused more problems, but if Nigeria can do the division with good strategy, without bloodshed, killings, or hatred, let's do it.

Ibos and yorubas already get along well, so lets get together, and the hausas can be doing their own thing. I just want something to be done, just not to see the hausas rule and have so much power in the whole country. Hausas are just so angry that their time will soon be over, just own it!

I totally agree with Gadaffi. i'm sure at the end of the day it will turn out that way..we might even end up diving into 3 nations sef or evn more.

Ghaddafi does not have space in Libya to keep 150m potential refugees. That article stated that //Splitting India in 1947 caused a breakdown of law and order in which at least 200,000 people died. Some estimates say one million people were killed.

About 12 million people were left homeless and thousands were raped//

The guy wan break the country to pieces so that he can colonise it!
No be hin again?? Take a good look at hir precedent:

He suggested in his last visit to the G8 summit in Italy that Switzerland be splitted in 3(Germany,Italy & France). Check

He asked the muslims around the World to declare Jihad against Swiss..: check

Illusions of granduer, calls himselfking of king: check
He uses women's make-up and usesall femalebody guards::check

He insulted Black Africans migrating through Lybia..saying "they they 'll leave their forests & think there's money in the North-*though black africans too dey fool ourselves again sha*: check

if he wasnt a presido he wouldbe locked in an asylum by now! onyeara, anumanu!!psscheeuiiiw!!

That said, he has the right to an opinion, you know, freedom of speech and all.

hi hi Linda,nothing do you!

I like his boldness and the ability to say what many of us have been saying for a long time. When an outsider now says it, then we can truly say we are in a hopeless situation.

its so sad to read the comments writtn here that this is what our country has become. but do you actually think that if we split the country it will resolve the criss. how will you even go about splitting the county. instead of having negative thoughs we should stay positive. there are countries who have gone through worst phases than nigeria and have moved forward.

I would definitely be the first to agree that we split based on other issues like resource control... etc. However on this issue, splitting might not be the solution.
Fulani raiders did not start their raids yesterday, it has been going on for years. They kill farmers and rape women in Oyo & Ogun states because these farmers refuse to allow their cows feed on their sweat, their crops.
The nomadic fulanis hold their cattle dear to their heart and would rather have an entire family die than to loose a cow. that is their psychology, their sense of reasoning and orientation is way different from others.
I feel that splitting (based on this issue) would rather escalate the problem because then it will be a war of different countries and don't forget that these ppl don't fight by the rules!
Similarly, the recent raids in Jos is on people mainly from Jos. So, will all these people agree to move South? Won't there be another territorial battle between these ppl (if they agree to move south) and original inhabitants of the South?
This is getting rather lengthy. Methinks other options should be used to solve this problem once and for all.

The big question is, HOW CAN WE STOP THE HAUSAS FROM RULING? HOW CAN THE INCIDENT IN JOS BE STOPPED? When I heard division is the answer, I lost it, because division has been Africa's biggest downfall/failure, so why should Nigeria go through that.

But again, if Nigeria can be divided, maybe it will help, because that will stop the same people from ruling. I don't understand, how Nigeria has so many ethnic groups, but the hausas rule, and have so much power. They do nothing for the country. It's such a disgrace, to see Babangida, who is known as one of the most corrupt leaders, to even have the confidence to want to run for office again, that's how you know, hausas rule Nigeria, and it's just ridiculous.

Any Well educated Nigeria of any age and experience will definitely agree to Gadaffi. What he said is not courageous or news to us, it is the very fact.. the truth, the solution to the mistake Lord Luggard made in 1914

I know it's annoying coming from Gaddafi, but he's actually saying what many nigerians have been thinking for years!LOL

I will have to completely agree with Gaddafi, Linda! You have to realize that these killings have been going on for far too long to make no difference anymore.
I have not been to Nigeria in 8 yrs and I am so frightful to even step foot in there. God help us. The Northerners should just be separated from Nigeria and let us find peace for one!

abeg abeg all these people saying split nigeria into two countries are just trying not to think too hard about solutions. so who will determine the division criteria? how will you group yorubas, hausas and igbos and where will you now "chook" people from delta, edo, benue, e.t.c where even neigbouring villages speak different languages? splitting Nigeria is only going to create problems and i kinda like all our different cultures. the only solution is to improve infrastructure and raise standards of living. and linda you are right about gaddaffi minding his country. nobody takes him seriously and neither should we!

Anonymous said...

a split is definitely and certainly NOT the answer to the problem. it is a simplistic solution at best...so many other issues come into play. what we need to do is find other solutions and raise the standards of living.

....and who listens to this ASS FACE anyway, even though he's right?
