Zakari Biu dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force

Zakari Biu was until his dismissal today, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation in Abuja. He was dismissed by the Police Service Commission from the Nigerian Police Force after it indicted him following the escape of Boko Haram suspect, Kabiru Sokoto, the mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing in Madala, Niger State, from police custody.

20 year old Nigerian sentenced to 30 years for London killing

A son of a popular Ibadan based politician, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, Sodq Adeojo was on Feb 16th 2012 given a life sentence with a minimum term of 30 years for the murder of a promising 17 year old  athlete, Sylvester Akapalara.

20 year old Sodiq Adeojo, was tried along with two of his brothers, Qudus, 18, and another 16 year old who belong to the notorious GAS Gang of Brixton. His brothers were cleared in the murder case, but Sodiq was convicted of murder.

Sylvester was found dying in the stairwell of the Pelican estate, in Peckham, south east London, in December 2010. He had been chased by Sodiq's gang brandishing knives and a gun before being shot in the neck and chest.

Like any observant parent, Mrs. Kehinde Oduntan became concerned when she wanted to wash the clothes of her children and noticed what looked like semen in her 12-year-old daughter’s underwear.

She quickly summoned her husband, Peter, and informed him of her discovery. Peter confirmed that what she saw was actually semen.

The parents questioned their daughter (name withheld) and after much threat, she told them their 47-year-old neighbour, Mr. Lateef Amuda, was the one that had sex with her.

Bobby Brown Confirms Appearance for R28 Concert in Lagos

Grammy award winning American musicianRobert Barisford Brown (Bobby Brown) is coming to Nigeria for the first time ever. And he’s making the trip with his pop group New Edition!

TheR&B Singer, song writer and dancer confirmed his appearance for the high budget concert organized by R28 events in an audio statement released on Monday from his base in America. The concert is scheduled for Friday March 9 in Lagos and Sunday March 11, in Port Harcourt.

Lagos State Govt Shut Down Churches in Lagos Over Noise Polution

The Lagos State Government through one of its agencies - the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), over the weekend shut down some churches in Lagos over what the government termed - noise polution.

The churches affected include - Lord's Chosen in Surulere, Bible Church in Festac, The Chapter of Christ Church in Oregun Ikeja, Seek and Save Ministry, Abule Egba, Assemblies of God church, Ikeja, The Golden Gate Church, Ifako Ijaiye.
A rep of the agency say the churches were shut down after the churches disregarded pre-sanction notices given to them to abate the noise pollution emanating from their worship centres.

The government say they are determined to reduce noise polution in Lagos State, so more churches will be shut down.

Dear LASEPA, I live in Surulere, and there are at least three churches around my area that needs to be closed...the noise is unbelievable!

John Okojie, the elder brother of Mercy Johnson's husband, Odi Okojie, passed away a fews weeks back in Kaduna. He was a staff of Nigerian Telecommunications Company. May he RIP.

M.I opens multi million naira office in Gbagada

Though the Nigerian King of rap (Linda says so...:-)) is signed to Chocolate City, he also has his own music label called Loopy Records, and he recently rented a a huge duplex with boys quarters located inside Gbagada phase2, as office space for his label.

The duplex, which is fully equiped with mordern facilities for shooting videos, a recording studio, and all the works, will be formally opened on Sat march 3, 2012 with the unveilling of Loopy Music's new signings.

Bank sack workers through text messages

It's so unethical. You work for a company for many years and when they are ready to let you, instead of doing it in a dignifying manner, they send you a text message. It's now known as e-sacking.

Access Bank and Ecobank acquired Intercontinental and Oceanic Bank respectively, and they've been been laying off staffers of the acquired banks, sometimes via e-sacking.

Here's one of such text messages sent by one of the acquiring banks mentioned above.

“Dear All, Following d current restructuring in (identity withheld) Bank, we regret 2 inform u dt ur service is no longer required. Pls note dt ur letter will be sent 2u soon.”

Boko Haram attack market in Maiduguri, kill 30 people...

According to AFP, about 30 people, including women and children were killed yesterday February 20th in a market in Maiduguri after Boko Haram members set off bombs and also opened fire indiscriminately at the traders at Baga Fish market.

Eight of the sect members were however killed in a gun battle with the JTF after the attack on the market.
