It's a matter of jurisdiction. Although the actual crime was perpetrated here in Nigeria, South Africa acquired jurisdiction in the matter since some elements of the crime took place there. For example the phone orders he gave while in S/A is a good reason for S/A to try him for the crime. Int'l law things!
