Someone pls explain what our President just wrote on his FB page

Last Friday I launched a comprehensive database on all Vehicles in Nigeria designed to link every vehicle to its owner/operator such that vehicles can be traced within seconds. This is part of proactive steps we are taking as part of a review of our national security architecture to lay greater emphasis on intelligence and citizens' participation in security surveillance. Terrorism has no conscience and spares no one. We must stand together against terror in its destructive manifestations. GEJ

Can you break it down please? Thank you...:-)

Difference between Yaradua and Goodluck in their 1st 100 Days in Office:
Yaradua-No Kidney, Goodluck-No Liver

Idiots ruled by a single fool.

Surprise said...

He is trying to say that he is confused. That he lacks the know how on how to tackle the many problems of the nation especially the security issue. So he decided to take to facebook to tell his fans not to expect any miracle.

this man is a liar !!!!!!!!!!!,,,,, am an ict executive with an oil n gas insurance company, this can only be achieved tru NATIONAL INSURANCE COMMISION. AND LEFT $ ME THE PROJECT HAS NOT COMMENCE!

Car GPS or simply a data base of all cars in Nigeria.

Bia Linda, what is hard to understand in what he wrote? Using "big" words doesn't mean that it is hard to comprehend. Geez. It makes sense.....

The real question is - do we believe him? NO!

Anonymous said...

Anon sept8,7:20pm:d national insurance commission software is ready, how do i know? It was handled by my company..thnx

He is merely saying that he has introduced a new car registration and identification system. This means that by the plate number of ur car, you can be traced to you residential address. which i think its good.

but i dont think that this new system will go far enough. the challenge is going to be lack of adequate date base. Govt needs to get all Nigerians have a unique identification number . the way its done in civilised societies. that way you can know who is a Nigerian and who is not. we should work on our registration of births and deaths.

This will enable the govt to know where every Nigerian lives. It will make things a bit easy for law enforcement and security.

come to think of it, if you focuos attention on car owners alone, then terrorists will devise another way.
may be by using pple who do not own cars.

I think its a nice idea but i am afraid it may not go far enough. Even addresses and names can be falsefied in Nigeria and used to obtain car registration without the govt detecting it.

damn simple question folks..Linda hasn't asked u all to bash the commander in chief. show a little bit more respect. What this means Linda is that we all have till next year to upgrade our car number plates and licenses to those types that are linked to a central database. Just like the ones in England. They see it as a way of preventing terrorism, fraud and car theft. NO i wasn't paid by Goodluck and NO i'm not a member of the PDP.

Anonymous said...

his simply talking about tags and tittle, registering ur vehicle tag and tittle will help identify and keep a track of the owner, d only thing the genius of a president forgot to add is that pple can falsify information because there is nothing like social security numbers in Nigeria, sry but ur president is an ASS.

This man should Stop Lying... and It saddens me that many Nigerians don't realise his statement doesn't make sense. Make una read am again...

1st of all if what he's saying is true then it is also unconstitutional (freedom of association, and privacy can not be violated by the state without legal probable cause and a warrant under law).

2nd... Vehicles have ALWAYS been linked to owners/operators... its called "vehicle registration"

3rd... tracking within Seconds? Who the fuck are you lying to Sir???!!

4th... Does he understand what it would take in terms of capital investment and technological adaption to track in seconds with or without a court granted warrant?

WHEN WILL THE POLITICAL CLASS STOP INSULTING THE REST OF US, and WHEN WILL WE STOP EATING EVERYTHING THEY FEED US.

*SMH*

There is no need to be insulting the man, if u dont understand what his statement, just say so... what he is proposing to do is already implemented here in d UK. Every vehicle bought here is registered to a database, this is linked directly to the owner of the car and their address, as well as the driver's license. Therefore if a hit and run occurs for example and a witness manages to take down the plate number, this will be entered into the database and the details will be accessed. Obviously, Nigeria is a looong way from gettin to that level, but he is thinking in the right direction.

Anonymous said...

Linda, na wah for u. U no go school?

The man didn't write in Chinese or Swahili.

A centralised computerised database of vehicle owners is not a bad idea if properly implemented.

Linda, go back to school, ewu goat. Lol

Anonymous said...

What is wrong with what he said?

If he didn't do anything in regards to terrorism every nigerian would complain, now that he is doing someone about it you are saying you don't understand.

Please give the man a chance, Nigeria is a mess and it will take a while to clean it up and fix it.

He is going in the right direction, all he needs is prayers and support.

But if you think you can do a better job, please by all means run for president.

Buki said...

For God's sake, @ Anon 7:51 pm, did you really have to insult Linda? What's up with this "ewu goat" that u just called her? I think you should be ashamed of yourself for using such words. I think you should be the one to go back to school and learn how to criticize constructively. My goodness!

PALA said...

Well this is a good idea, though its not the solution for dealing with the "Boko Haram Clan", we should already have this systems in place anyways.

Vehicle registration, monitored by Insurance Coys in partnership with the Govt.(Yes this is welcomed)

However this does not stop them from stealing a car to use for an operation. Does it stop them from buying a tokunbo car not yet registered for terrorism operation?.

Fake plate numbers can as well be made.

The main focus i reckon is to identify what and who exactly BOKO HARAM is, know what they are bombing for.

If matters can't be settled amicably, then the BOKO HARAM Clan should be exterminated, so peace can reign again.

Like the earlier post Yaradua had kidney problem, its certain Goodluck is on Liver treatment.

Meanwhile i need to mention this, we have certainly got some scumbags on LIB.

You come to a blog to abuse the owner. If u wanna critic something fair enough.

However you have no single right to abuse or use swear words at the Blog owner.

If you dont like what Linda publishes, you can either.

1. Never return to the Blog again
2.Go get your own Blog.
3. Fucking get a life, and be useful to yourself if not the community.

LINDA i must really commend you for your work on LIB. I cant possibly miss a day without checking your blog. Keeps me connected with stories back home. You are a STAR....HUGs

Hahaha at another foolish initiative by GEJ. Only way to trace every car is through its VIN #.

VIN #s are found in two major places; the axle and the dashboard right under the windshield.

It is a minor job to replace the VIN on the dashboard, and a semi-minor one to replace the one on the axle.

Having said that; what would this initiative actually accomplish after all is said and done?

Those who want to bomb buildings with car bombs will still bomb buildings with car bombs, stealing a car is not a major undertaking in Nigeria, filling a stolen car with explosives and then crashing it into a building, not a major undertaking either.

But of course it looks like the President is doing something, so the ignorant ones out there would applaud.

GEJ said...

plz be patience with me. I have big plans for Nigeria within the next 2 years!

You people of Nigeria, it is only God Almighty that will save us. The vehicles reg is supposed to be foolproof and amongst other things to arrest criminal situations. if not why do we do it in the first place. Am sure its not just for the heck of it. Mba!I don't have money and strength to repeat anode car reg I beg.

Anonymous said...

Ewu 10k. I totally concur with @anon7:18pm.

N.Campbell said...

He's talking about having something like a DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) that some countries have where if any kind of incident happens you can easily trace back to who registered the car and locate that person. Good idea, better late than never. At least he is doing something about it as opposed to nothing.

LucidLilith said...

Meaning he is trying to set up Naija DMV style of tagging all vehicles to one owner. If yours is used in a crime, then you are questioned. Problem is that these yeye police that can use that database for criminal activities. I fear.

InitiatiVes like dis are not jst for public consumption, plans and processes are first laid out and then the info can be made public. All we know in Nigeria is to jump ito d press at every opportunity to tell everyone wat we cannot do.those who said Jonathan and PDP are difft now can reason beta. I pray God helps him o

Ade_Cool said...

This ode president the first thing he wants to do is conduct a national census..gather that info in some sort of electronic format..that would be a start..not all this nonsensical sound bites!!

Anonymous said...

I think he's talking about having an electronic database that would be able to link car registrations to owners because I believe what they system they have in Nigeria now is not advanced. My opinion? he should just start a system like what they have in the U.S, a D.M.V or something. As far as being able to track your car if it's stolen in minutes ***coughs***, not gonna happen!

Sir Talk said...

Goodfuck Johnathan All he's saying is am just beginning to fuck Nigerians over. That's all.

Anonymous said...

This lame duck president is CLUELESS. I only feel sorry for those you took the pain in voting at the election. I thought he was a breath of fresh air, I have no business with Nigeria anymore, am at peace here. A man without hope is never disappointed.

Anonymous said...

This man ... he has misplaced finish!!!!! Chai, I have never felt this kind of despair for nigeria. It is finished. I am counting down the days to Nigeria breaking up. This is past critical condition.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a smoke screen to me. As usual, we are trying chew b4 we can even bite.
We first need a central database system to match the licence data b4 it has any meaningful impact.
The premature launch of this car reg system is calculated to create an impression of effort, but its a misguided one at that.

Anonymous said...

This man is just a waste of time, and the tenure just started. No Liver mehhn

Anonymous said...

there is nothing hard in what he wrote. With the exception that they keep skipping over the important step of National identification. First be able to identify folks, then you can start identifying cars. Shikena.

Good people of Nigeria,
our aggression is quite understood,GEJ is slow in decision making especially about dealing with the Boko Harram lunatics.
Such blogs like this are ok for us all to express our feelings about this administration and come up with ideas and reasonable critics.Insulting the president of the FRN will not bring a way forward.
I personally think he should authorize an attck on this mad sect before the country becomes unhabitable for us all, he seems confused on what to do.He must understand that leading a nation might sometimes mean being ready to live for the nation, he should be afraid of giving that order to the military forces to wipe out the Boko Haram sect.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria !!!

As for GEJ's statement,,i dont know what to make from it,,,but sincerely ,,i dont think Nigeria has reached that stage for now,,,there are many grassroot problems that needs his urgent attention........whichever wayz,,GOD BLESS NIGERIA

@anon 7.17pm lol. i have lost fate in GEJ still wish him the best tho.

BTW haters leave Linda alone o. she keeps us entertained, informed and i know must of us are addicts yet u show appreciation by taking flacks at her. not cool i must say. welldone Linda.

GEJ just played to gallery stating the ideal but the problem is that he cant be trusted. Proper implementation still remains a big issue in Nigeria. He shouldnt attempt to secure political points via a mere presidential order that might not even see the light of the day. He is weak no doubt, lets hope this new directive will serve the purpose of a fresh start for a strong and decisive leader! Amen

Well tis a good idea that can actually be accomplished... it all just boils down to having a central database that would be useful for tracking people! and i see job opportunities for jobless graduates into database things! look at the bright side... (:

Anonymous said...

All the people insulting GEJ should be quiet. What he proposed is not far fetched and actually will go a long way in helping to identify people who use vehicles for criminal and terrorist activities. How do you think they track such in America? For those saying it cannot be done in a country like Nigeria, is Nigeria as big the U.S? Or do they have three heads in America? The same dedication and brains they applied, if we do the same in our country we can get there. Rome wasn't built in a day. People need to be sending in their resumes and proposals on how they canhelp out not bashing innovative ideas. If you have to solution to offer then shut up!

Lolz..i think our president iz lost..bt letz hope he find hiz way back on track.coz ol diz cant help us in tackling the security issues in our great nation nigeria

I'm not surprised at peoples comment. It is expected, but Nigerians refused to understand that it was the Military that plunged Nigeria into this mess we are. Nobody talked then, everybody was afraid for been attacked by the Military government. Goodluck is on the right path to transform Nigeria. Nigeria cannot be fix in 100 days please Nigerians.
