Scene of a robbery in Abuja

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning around Wuse market, in Abuja. Three armed robbers had tried to snatch the car you see above but the owner of the car struggled with them, in the process lost control of the car. He was shot at but survived. The robbers then tried to escape but the attempted robbery and accident had attracted a mob, who chased the robbers, despite being fired at, until they were caught. Fortunately for the robbers, the police arrived on the scene before the mob could unleash jungle justice. Witnesses say the robbers would have been burnt alive if the police hadn't intervened.

Police and EFCC ID cards were recovered from the robbers.

Linda,

Thank you for brining us this.
Thank goodness that the car owner survived the attack and the armed robbers were caught.

This again brings to the fore the nagging issue of insecurity in our country in recent times. It is sad and disgusting that all the incumbent government can offer as panacea are empty promises with words that are so shallow to one's hearing as they are spoken. Think of the spate of bombings at political rallies these day? It is worrisome to say the
least.

This is hoping that fellow citizens will redirect our values as the April elections approaches that come April we will massively vote out incompetencies, empty promises, deceit, ineptitude and charlatans in our leadership at all levels that don't mean well for the citizenry.

Kind regards,

Oladele Olunike.

I swear, I didn't think there would be armed robbers in Abuja. Not safe in the village, not safe in Lagos and no safety in Abuja. So no where is safe in Nigeria.

Well I am happy the mob wasn't trying to "mind their business" or feign ignorance when the person was being robbed.

Nigerians like to act like Nigeria is the only place where crime exists. Somebody gets robbed and it's Nigeria's fault. Go to any country in the world that has humans living in it and there is the possibility of you getting robbed, killed, raped and so on.
you didn't think there would be armed robbers inn Abuja? Is the place inhabited by angels? Please.

Thank God the man survived. I would have preferred for the robbers to have been burned, but knowing Nigerian prisons, I can say they would have been better off barbequed. Unlike the prisons in the UK where they have televisions, video games and all.
