Wesley Snipes lost his appeal for a new trial on the grounds that some of his jurors were biased and that the star witness for the prosecution had a criminal record.
Now, two years after his conviction on tax evasion, Wesley Snipes must report to prison and immediately begin his 3 year sentence.
Where he will be serving his time has not been announced.
Yep it's sad. He still looks good though. The face, bone structure and those glasses. Damn, what a waste. Lol.
He could have done a Toni Braxton and declared himself bankrupt (ie pay the damn taxes even if he ends up penniless). But I guess that ain't how it's done in the hood!
Biased?? I personally think the discrimination works the other way around - he is going to jail BECAUSE he is a celebrity. The only people who actually go to jail for tax evasion are "high-profile" or "rich" people (unless of course they want you in jail for other reasons but tax evasion is the only thing they can pin on you, a la Al Capone). There are a lot of other people who work "everyday" jobs (illegal immigrants included), who don't file their taxes and are never prosecuted, talkless of going to jail.
@ Skanks... I'm just wondering what took so long, I mean did he appeal or what? I don't know too much about it I just remember reading about it aaaages ago!
After the trial his lawyer filed an appeal..that's what took so long..it's not unusual for appeals to take this long depending on the grounds for appeal..his celebrity status had nothing to do with it, this one na federal matter..they don't play! Especially when it comes to tax evation.
So, why didn't he pay when he was found out?...i don't understand?..i really liked the guy movies o...so how many years would he be jailed? what a pity.
me to @Nollywood @omo jeje its because they have the money and the government don't want to be termed bad by it poor citizens you know the robin hood ideology. stealing form the rich and giving it to the poor but through and through you are right.
