RMD's New Post + Residents attacked by police

Popular actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, is the new Legal Adviser to the Delta State Government. I'm sure y'all know he's a lawyer...he got a second degree in law some years back from the University of Lagos. His first degree was Theatre arts from University of Benin.

Send your congratulations to him. It's a well deserved appointment.

Also, 19 people died yesterday on the Lekki/Epe Express way, when a bus carrying passengers and a car collided. Every single person in both cars lost their lives...may their souls rest in perfect peace and may God grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss...

Meanwhile, the police are still harassing and arresting people for indecent dressing in Lagos. I thought by now this madness would have stopped, instead it's getting worse with each passing day. Now it's an offence to walk around the streets of Lagos without an ID card. Your ass will be arrested and taken to a mobile court...in fact, there are mobile lawyers loitering the streets, waiting for any arrest so they can negotiate release and get paid...the situation is sad!

Residents attacked by police

A sadder situation happened a few days ago when the residents of Abeokuta and Freeman streets in Ebutte Metta Lagos, were attacked by Police men from the Denton Police Station. Homes were broken into, shops were destroyed, guns were fired, matchets were used on some residents and many were arrested and taking to the police station where their families had to bail them with N2 to N5 grand each. The Denton police PRO claim that the policemen had gone to the area to arrest miscreants but were attacked by the residents, smashing their windscreen and attacking them with matchets. The police men attacked had to call for back up...when the others got to the scene, they unleashed mayhem on the residents. Some of them were shown on TV, badly beaten and in need of medical attention.

The police is supposed to protect not attack it's citizens. Since Fashola's administration began...the police have been acting like animals. We can't live in fear of them...that's not the way it's supposed to be. I hope something is done about this situation soon...

Going to work....more gists coming your way later...cheers!

RMD has a very tall political ambition and that was why he went to study Law.
He wants to be a senator and later contest for the governorship of Delta State. He wants to be the "Donald Duke" of Delta State and I wish him all the best.

Congratulations to RMD.

On Naija Police:

Policing The Nigerian Way
Just look at the way they dehumanize their fellow citizens in their own country for no crime.Do we really have a government in place or just some bunch of educated thugs?.The real problem with Nigeria is sheer wickedness.
The Nigerian police is a different story...It is the height of human shame.

Nigeria has failed, her leaders are all thieves. The nation should be disbanded by the UN. She has become an eyesore to the world and to blacks in general. Her leaders I mean everyone in leadership should be tried by the Hague.

If she cannot put her act together there is no reason to allow her to keep rendering masses of humanity poor and leaving them dejected and many dead all in the name of Nigeria.

i think the new commissioner of police in Lagos State is a core muslim, he's only trying to enforce sharia law in Lagos, how very sad indeed!!

RMD legal adviser to the Governor -then we wonder why we dont progress. He's got a lot of mess to straighten out and the first person to advice him on legal matter is an actor who studied law. Son! i studied law but i dont practice or go to court, having the degree is not thesame as practising. What is he going to say, - let me go and check the constitutiona and i will get back to you. I dont care what anyone says, you cannot compare the competence of a practising lawyer with reputation is his/her field to an actor who badge a degree in law, just so that he could add it to his CV. And you wonder why police and misbehaving and nothing hasnt been done since he took over power. He is even worse than the last governor. whatelse are they going to be doing, partying, charity fund dinners, PR/Image development, name dropping, travelling overseas - while lagosians die on bad roads, not light, no security and not social services. Studying Law and practising it day after day aint thesame. All these morons calling themselves leaders are all a disappointment. Is this this promise he made before he got there... i am fuming... forget it, its just another waste of 4 years if not 8 years.

on RMD, not hating o, but why exactly has he being chosen? If I'm right, he is probably less tan 10 years @ the bar plus never heard of him practising law, so how much value can he possibly add

Shdn't he have been made....i dunno, arts/culture/tourism advisor if at all appointed!

more on naija cops....

There are so many mad people who can best be described as chimpazees/ animals in the Nigerian police. The earlier they are flushed out the better. Many of them are drunkards who get drunk as early as 8am. Many of them are useless set of people. If u see a Nigerian policeman pls dont open u door to him cos he can plant igbo (hemp) in u house and later ask his colleagues to search u house. they are criminals.

naija cops are very tough & active on innocent civilians and mild or weak on armed robbers, they will harrass and probably lead an innocent man to jail but will not chase their robber partners. may be we dont need this type of police at all coz they are horrible nightmares. they need comprehensive tutoring and training.. the are baddd news.

On RMD..kudos to ya bro but it ain't eureka yet not until u go back to law school and after finishing go do ya IT for Gani fawehinmin's chamber to learn the rudiments..Jah bless u RMD

Naija police, scrap them, and hire Israeli militants to help us create a new police force.

aaah RMD in politics, na wa o, thats great, I hope for all the best with that. Delta is an important state given its oil quota and with all the wahala between the Ijaw and Urhobo and itshekiri, he has a lot on his plate.

Ruling a nation is no fucking joke, an actor that studied law to advise on legal matters. For those of you cheering just pray he never get to deliberate on matters concerning you or your family member, maybe then you will realise the impact this is having. You have people like Gani and other big guys that can put this novice of a governor straight but he chose his 'padi'. Having an ambition and being socially conscious is of no use to anyone without doing something or with a record to show you know something about it. An adviser on legal matters - and all of you saying RMD is to be congratulated are all short sighted and dont have a progressive mind, or else you will know we a doomed with such panel of advisers.

i don't understand what is happening. Why are the police disturbing people claiming indecent dressing? Its been a long time since i went to naija but i want to be prepared before i go there (as i would be going soon) to avoid embarrasment. What is categorized as indecent dressing???

Linda abeg clarify matta. I no dey for naija so I rely on you for gist.

By legal adviser to state government, I believe you mean RMD is the Commisioner for Justice in Delta State abi? LOL!! Or does Delta State have both 'legal adviser' and Commisioner for Justice?
