Lawani Badirou, a public Benin prosecutor on Tuesday revealed that the security forces confiscated about 54 kilograms of cocaine from a container that had arrived at the main port of Cotonou from Brazil.
Speaking at the news conference, he said the container arrived on Monday carrying a sack containing 48 pellets of suspected product, which was confirmed to be cocaine.
‘There was a sack containing 48 pellets of a suspect product, which was seized on Monday. Tests revealed that this was cocaine.’
However, it is yet to be confirmed if any arrest has been made but several reports indicated that it was the second drug bust in Benin in under a month.
