Photos: Kano State Governor, Ganduje destroys illegal drugs and expired food items
On Monday, March 28, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led Kano Government officials to destroy illegal drugs and expired food items at the NDLEA office. See photos below:
when i see things like, i wonder what sense it makes for government to destroy goods (except the goods or drugs are expired) bought with hard earned currencies and turn round to cry for lack of funds; wouldn't it make sense if government can auction the illegally imported foods or drugs and put the funds into good use?
My heart breaks and I gnash my teeth when I read stories such as this. While there are some legit points in the reasons behind this act, the aim, intent of the Gov and the pictures speak a thousand dirty words.
1)Why is it that we rejoice more in destruction than in restoration?
2)Why is the Gov proudly and arrogantly taking on this sad duty by himself? Last time I checked, NAFDAC was in charge of this sickening display of unchecked and vindictive power which they wielded on both the innocent and the guilty with vicious glee which Machiavelli would have envied ( I am speaking here from the perspective and knowledge of one such victim.
3)Why must our law enforcement continue to judge accused persons guilty and proceed to do all their power to publicly humiliate, debase and disgrace them even before they are tried? ergo - Why are those two individuals tied up and made to sit on the floor all so the almighty Gov. can walk by chest puffed out at having caught such dastardly criminals?
4)And what is with the dramatic bonfire? In other countries, USA, Mexico, Columbia, e.t.c. where tons of hard drugs like cocaine, heroin and marijuana - the seizure might by publicized, but rarely do we see such drama surrounding the destruction. Perhaps such stage plays might be warranted here if I did not sense the whole production as a cheap political stunt.
5) How do we tie in NDLEA to doing the job of destroying expired food items? I guess its weightier and more dramatic for the Governor to use the NDLEA rather than NAFDAC or just a simple destruction of the expired food items!
Mr man grab English name or better still go anonymous and stop shaming us. Is it difficult to understand the meaning of *illegal drugs and expired foods*??? Mtcheew
