Coldplay and Beyoncé's new video is accused of culture appropriation

Coldplay (with Beyoncé cameo!)'s new song "Hymn for the Weekend" is getting lots of attention, and not all of it is good. The video, which was shot in India, features fire breathers, holy men, and Queen Bey as a very fancy Bollywood actress. It has started to receive criticisms of cultural appropriation. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the video. Its just a video with a definite theme, which had to be followed. But then, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and its actually good publicity for the song, after all, it just made me watch the video now.

Coldplay is finished as a band.
Teaming up with pop stars like Beyonce. Why won't their art reduce.

I miss the days of 'a rush of blood to the head' when coldplay could actually sing.

World people can never be pleased. I thought that video was very beautiful, one of the best videos I've seen from coldplay and a very nice song too. It just showcased the beauty of India and our cultural diversity. Those criticising it only helps to show that we are all loosing our culture, we only thing something is beautiful if it meets up to the western standard. What a shame

These are disingenuous attempts to go tit for tat against black people for discussing cultural appropriation in the first place. They're using Beyonce to silence black people about our valid point on how we're constantly substituted in what we create without being given proper credit as originators and innovators.

Unknown said...

Like their opinion will stop the sell of the video though.

Thank u o thank u u they r just looking for attention
