I am half igbo, but even I have to say igbo girls are not the only women in Nigeria. When did the format change anyways? They can even concede that if either of your parents are from a state or you were born there, then you can represent the state. But whatever criteria currently existing sucks.
If the organizers are gonna pick any random girl off the street, since fine girls like me can't be bothered with this joke of a competition, then at least hook them up before taking head shots. You have girls pulling their hair back to reveal visible tracks and sew-in lines.

MBGN pageant is not strictly come and represent ur state of origin. if u are interested,u buy d form go for audition and if u suceed u'l be given a state to represent. i doubt if it has ever been purely about ur state of origin. moreover when d desirable is unavailable,d available becomes desirable. miss Abuja and MIss Imo deserve to win dis crown jare.

Guys...easy on the girls. A lot of people commented without looking through the pics twice, they are all pretty really. It's just the crazy weaves/wigs that isn't helping their profiles, and the photographer didn't do some justice either. Miss Benue is a pretty girl in my opinion, but the photograph is just bad. I like that the fact people can represent states where their tribes are not originally from. I just wished it would be more like a yoruba girl representing abia,an igbo girl representing ondo,etc., and not overrly one tribe. I am not tribalistic but this idea of letting indigenes rep a state is good, but Nigerians should make sure the person knows the culture,language etc of the native people. And also that they have lived there for atleast three years or go to uni in that state. I think that is one of the ideas they need to revisit. But Linda all these your igbo sistahs, most of them no fine at all for this pictures. I used to wish i was an Igbo girl growing up, because all the ones my uncles married were drop dead gorgeous, like true vixens. But most of these people up here dey are worwor sha. Oh well it just seems that most of the past mbgn winners have all been of igbo heritage, so i no dey surprise.It is a given that money dey involved plus other luxuries, especially when you have a chance to marry a super star foot baller or artist. The most beautiful are Kwara and plateau. One reli needs to check out the specific features on their face and not get carried away by the make-up enhancements.
The selections should have been done with d girls NOT wearing make up, let's see how many such "pretty" girls here will be able to stand confidently for pictures.

I'm Igbo but even i think that most of these girls being Igbo is so wrong!! We should protest MBGn. As diverse as Nigeria is, its a shame that only one ethnic group dominates. I mean, for the LIVE OF GOD. Is there a way we can bring Miss Nigeria back and throw out MBGN?? So lazy that they can't even do regional auditions. Like auditions in the east, south south, north, Benin city, southwest, Lagos, middle belt/Abuja, and then pick hotels from those regions to represent their respective states of origin. MBGN is a fucking joke!!
But as for the girls who have potential. Abuja, IMO, Edo, Anambra, Kaduna, Gombe, Plateau, and Taraba. But of course I'm going good IMO cause that's my state!!

Miss Plateau is definitely the most beautiful. She posseses that 'something' to make her a queen. Miss Abuja is cute too, and perhaps they all are cute. But nothing o make ou take a second look. Miss Plateau has that something.. Black is beautiful, that nose, facial structure etc is to die for. I hope she's got the body and charisma to make her complete.. @Anon 3:50 am. There is nothing to be confused about. An hausa man, born and bred in Lagos is still an Hausa man. Your father is from rivers state, hence , you are from rivers state. This isn't the US. You can spend your entire life in Lagos, but that doesn't make you Yoruba. Hope this clears your confusion.

ℓ̊'m yoruba and ℓ̊ don't understand the outrage about the pageant being dominated by Igbos. Not all naija babes are interested in pageantry, ℓ̊ know for ǻ̀́ fact that there are prettier girls than these on our streets...
However, too early to dismiss them i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ my opinion. Until ℓ̊ see the full packages (height, shape, endowments :D) before ℓ̊ pass judgement. ℓ̊ like miss abia, abuja and kogi.

It is funny how people are concerned about the ethnicity of these girls. First of all, it is not silverbird's fault that 16 out of the 32 contestants are ibos.
Secondly, the forms were open to everybody and because all the states are not represented, they have obviously given the girls states to represent at random.
Thirdly, I met the girls and the youngest person I spoke to was 18 and the oldest 23 or 24 I don't remember. They are most currently in university, while some are recent graduates. The pictures are not all that . FACT. However they were the best of the pack.
Finally, it is easy to stay outside and judge. But bear in mind that these girls are not judged alone by the questions they answer on the final day or how pretty they look. The judging starts from the camp. The winner has to tick all the boxes: beauty, articulation, personality etc.
Only contestants Ms. Gombe and Ms. Imo have a stake in this for the sake of international acclaim representing Nigeria. Cos if not his year's version should be scrapped. GOD!!!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE ALL THESE? Is this a scarecrow contest or who gets to star in the animated fairy tale movie: "the ugly duckling" or is this a shortlisting for mtv's makeover, really what the he'll is this, the house helps contest? Or what? Are they wearing masks? From the look of this, BABY DOLLS stand a chance, toy Story characters stand a chance, sesame street puppets, Pinnochio, even Mrs. Fiona Shrek can contest. What the f***? *really-pissed-at-the-Bruce-Brothers-for-this* even toddlers should contest.
