True that...we read novels, James hardley chase, mill n boon, hints magazine etc....girls of nowadays! It I akwu iti akwu.

Anonymous said...

The only reason you dnt find anything wrong is because you are part of the "niche" she's talking about.
You want them coming to your blog and nothing reading books instead.
Your win, their loss... Inevitably, OUR LOSS

Unknown said...

Oh!

Really so sad dat dis generation has become sth else and d level of reading has drastically reduced. I pray they wil b total turn around wit dis present generation IJN.

How will you see anything wrong in it Linda, you obviously fall into that category yourself.

Abeg go and sit down. What did the novel u read then add to your life now? Mtcheeew.

Linda you dont see anything wrong with what she said or anything wrong in this generations obsession with the internet. Please be specific. As for me she has said the truth 100percent. I remember those days we will be fighting to finish a novel so we can collect another from our frnds. Anyway using the internet is not bad in its entirety but they should learn to use it wisely and be well informed educationally

Unknown said...

Is true...Lindo knows even all the colors of Kim kardashan pants

Unknown said...

I agree with her...Our generation is an apology. I hope it gets better

BONARIO NNAGS said...

Its quite unfortunate, we're becoming more west than the westerners, even E! channel doesn't report on the Kadarshains like I read here.
We should be reeling our own stories, coz in them are the unique messages meant for our consumption alone.

Of course you wont see anything wrong in it Linda. So long as they are always on the net reading your blog.

Sad but true. During my secondary school days, we rent novels. We read for exams, we read for fun, etc. We read anything readable. But the younger generation have completely lost the reading culture. Can you compare WAEC results back then and now? Or is it the JAMB scores? Now JAMB had to cut down on scores so students can gain admission to study. Very sad, but true what she said.

For all the novels she claims to have read, I still see typos/ grammatical blunders in her write up, and guess where she's sharing???? Social Media. I love Bose, and believe in what she's doing, I don't just dig the being sacrilegious and name dropping Ref: Emeka's divorce. You can make your point without mentioning names. Have you wondered why some intelligent people don't bother reading political/Economy news on Linda. The reason is because the comment section is appalling. It makes you think if these people actually went to school. All they know is tribal war instead of critical analysing the issue at hand. Linda my hubby thinks you're just like them.

So many things are wrong @ Linda. Kudos to u @ Lepacious. Give them one assignment, they will ask Google. That's why majority of them fail their exams these days 'cos they won't hv access to ask the Google again. Most of them in here are below 16-18, but instead of them to read their books, they prefer to read Linda's blog or other blogs. May God help our next generation.

That's for our Nigerian youths, in UK, I see teenagers reading all the time, on trains, in the bus. Newspapers are kept in train stations for pipo to pick n read. I think it's something that has to do with us, after all u can download novels on Internet if d interest is there first. Remember there's a saying that goes, if u want to hide something from a Nigerian, hide in a book. But we need to do something asap if not it will affect d future of this country

It's true...I read novels like crazy...from nursery school till now. It's a habit I got from my mum and I didn't know how much it helped me till I discovered that I had developed a stellar vocabulary and an overactive imagination. I watch movies a lot too, but mainly foreign and some educative documentaries too....dat has brushed me up on diff cultures so I make friends easily with people from diff countries. I like social media buh I abhor sharing anything related to my private life. It's interesting reading about other people's own though.

Like it or not she's absolutely correct. We talk about fake babes in Naija, where are they getting those ideologies from. I can't for the life of me understand the obsession with Kim k and I live in US of A. I read English written by some youths today and I want to cry and am not talking about Minnie grammatical errors. Every word is broken down to unrecognizable levels just becos most can't read or spell to save their lives. Its sad but as a parent these are our responsibilities and these children will blame us for their failures if things don't change.
My kids have iPads granted but there use are highly regulated and most content are books and educational. WiFi is monitored and timed by me so yes you can say I micro manage, but until they can pay for the WiFi, its my prerogative and responsibility to be their shadow.
No excuses.
Human are creatures of habit, if you never get used to reading, reading will always be a chore and am not having that!
You don't have to agree with me but truth is truth.
Internet is great but just like everything else too much of it is destructive! #just saying

Unknown said...

Sad but True. I remember my days and it's safe to say that they were much better days for kids to grow up in than now. Linda you don't have to be biased Becos you make money on this blog. Soon enough you'll get married and have kids God-willing, then you will understand better cos for now, all you see is $$ signs.

It's not even about reading novels, but reading virtually everything that add to your growth and development as a human being.
It has gotten so bad that most of the news on this blog that is not related to entertainment get little or no attention at all because the youth have lost the vibe for knowledge....
Knowledge is power

Anonymous said...

Linda and her ilk are part of the problem. Nothing wrong with blogging but when all you do is talk about this persons eggplant, that persons nipple piercing, daily kim and kylie obsessions just to drive traffic what do you expect? Have you ever put out daily blogs about o this book by this author is nice check it out just like Oprah and stuff perhaps you can be said to be a positive role model. I like your blog but you are part of the problem

It's really really sad, hardly can u sit up with girls this days and chat up to an hour, without them talking about other people's life of sex or the nonsense Linda keeps posting here, I read and watch educative movies n documentaries a lot and it helps me when ever I'm in the mist of matured and older people to contribute to there discussion and they are always amazed to go vast I sound and know

Anonymous said...

See that anonymous 12:44 calling somebody a fool and swearing to God at the same time. Good generation in deed. Back to the post, I thought bose was going to tell us how they were hustling to finish their BIBLE. But if she just talked about novels, she needs to know how many novels we have downloaded. Things are not the same like before; she was going about exchanging novels and am here downloading mine.

Anonymous said...

Mr Bonario for once I applaud your reaction and positive concern, the way she post about kardashian is becoming extremely boring and annoying, I really don't blame her tho, she has arrived and have forgotten he root, keep on acting western when we know you r a full ibotic girl

SMURF said...

Even people who invent the novel don't read the novel again!! Every generation has what would be in vogue for them.... then they didn't have internet, or social media, it was what they had she read, now social media and blogs rule so people use it. If there was no social media then maybe we would all be reading novel and the likes. Each GENERATION with the own INNOVATION, don't be STATIC.

Yes I am a ghost addict to LIB but will not compare surfing with reading a book!!!It is appaling to see some of the yeye comments made by people of shallow minds on this blog! Bose just reiterated what many of us tell whoever cares to listen!!! Even novel writers are tired of writing! HEEEEE people lets tell ourselves the truth and stop blaming it on technological inventions; IT IS THE HOME!!!! The failure of parents to instill fundamental values in their wards! ITS FROM THE SCHOOLS!!! unqualified teachers employed to teach what they dont know cos their uncle is this or that in the government! IT IS FROM US! Yes ever looking for the easiest way out and wanting no stress at all! FINALLY IT IS YOU LINDA!!!!! Feeding them with gossip unending, how will you see anything wrong in it as long as money flows. somethings cant be bought you know, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

There really isn't much basis for comparison, in our time we did not have Internet but we had other forms of distraction, some of us bastardised watching of television, others were deeply embedded in Ikebe super and the likes. While there were others who were always on the landline phone gossiping with friends etc. The only difference is that this generation has a different demon but we had our own demons.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure the only way to have read the way you feel would have been through the newspaper if not for the internet. most of the novels are now o the net. I think a blend would be nice anyway.

Anonymous said...

But isn't novels the same thing, a make believe world? Maybe they are not reading novels because they are reading their textbooks instead, maybe they are reading on their tablet or Kindle when you think they are just on the internet. I cannot stand ppl who always talk about teens of today this and that. If your big fat ass was concerned bout this lack of reading epidemic you would have put down the bucket of fried chicken and opened up a reading club of some sort long time.

i totally agree. the average 15-25 year Nigerian Youth today is generrally myopic and cannot make good conversation. i know a young man of about 29 who doesnt know his Governor and he is from Abia State. Linda Ikeji u may not agree but do a poll and find out howw many Nigerian youths can sing the National Anthem or tell u states and their capitals. its really a sad story and it gets worse by the year. for those of us born in the 80's and who ddidint know the 2nd national anthem, it was an embarassment, but ud be surprised to know that age bracket 15-25 dont even know we have a follow up anthem.
