A lot of men complain and make fun of women's weaves/wigs...but to be sincere which would you rather your babe wears - long luscious wavy hair (left) or carry their natural hair (right). Or it makes no difference to you? Would majority of Nigerian men prefer women to leave Asian, Brazilian, Pakistani, Chinese and Indian hair alone and rock their natural hair? If yes, why? Why are y'all always complaining about weaves?

I used to love the human hair,i never let anyone see my natural hair except my family members. when I take off my weave today,the next day i relax and immediately or after a day I put the weave back on. It only took me changing city and church that made me stop putting another man's hair on my head. Since i did the difference is clear. my natural hair has grown, its healthy and I get more compliments from both sexes. Now if am not on braids am on my natural hair. I have gained my confidence back. As for me natural is better than putting other people's hair on your head,people you dont even know if they are possessed with bad spirits. It's something we guys don't understand ourselves. Imagine a guy wearing some artificial wear that enhances his masculinity (just like Weaves enhance femininity). OH WOW…THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE AND MOST FRUSTRATING TOPICS. Here is a list but not even exhaustive as to why wearing weaves makes hardly and sense...
1. Weaves are unhealthy because they destroy the hairline and put unnecessary stress on the hair roots. Check with Naomi Cambell.
2. Weaves are un-hygienic because the wearer must desist from washing their hair frequently and wear the same weave for weeks on end. This allows for bacterial action hence resulting in that famous "weave door" that you can expect to pervade any venue full of women of colour.
3. Weaves are a vivid expression of our slave and colonial mentality. The perceived aesthetic benefit of the "flowing hair look" is the result of hundreds of years of Africans being told African Hair is inferior to the whites. Also a very robust system of subjugation and programming through the media which has stood the test of time and kept black women un-comfortable in their own skin and hair. You will NEVER see a white woman in an Afro wig. NEVER.
4. Weaves are expensive and a completely unnecessary waste of resources and Man hours. The weave industry in Nigeria alone is worth Billions of Naira mostly spent in importing the weaves plus another few billions spent on imports to maintain the weaves. Added to this is the amount of man-hours combined nationwide wasted in Salons fixing these mostly unnecessary weaves. It is a colossal waste. Importing the hair off the Brazilians, Indians and Chinese(yuck)??? Come on Sisters, who is buying our Hair…we can do better.
5. Weaves themselves, the procurement of the Human hair is Mafia business in the countries of origin. It is the main stay of dangerous human trafficking/prostitution/ and violent crime gangs. We really shouldn't support such an industry with our money or time.
6. Weaves create unnecessary competition amongst women in Nigeria or black women in General. Push people into desperation and sometimes prostitution to be able to "feel among".
7. If you are religious or superstitious then you shouldn't even be wearing them because they are collected from Hindu temple sacrifices in India. Please do your research.
…to answer Linda's question, as a man with an adjusted mind frame who has travelled the world. I find EVERY BLACK WOMAN NO MATTER HOW BEAUTIFUL IS TAINTED ONCE THEY WEAR THE WEAVE and factually weaves are unnecessary. We must find a way to enjoy our Natural look just like the whites have done for centuries. It's not easy but it is a must.

You can but you have to be ready to maintain it properly. African natural hair when taken care of with natural products like shea butter, egg, olive oil and honey; can make your hair softer and as beautiful as any brazilian weave. We just need a change of mindset
